In the UK seals are not a requirement. Advanced Packers don't usually have seals, but can re-pack reserved. As no seal is required, I wouldn't think anyone cares about the positioning of the cotton. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

so far no indication that airports are affected. Immigration may take a little longer, but otherwise there shouldn't be a problem. According to Transport for London http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/ buses are starting to work again and trains are mostly running again. All those which service the airports are running. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

it was a really weird day. Lots of people got in touch to check I was ok, and fortunately I'm a workaholic, so I was in my office by the time it happened. That also sort of helped me just carry on with things. I left work at 4pm, got a company coach to Kings X, walked from there to Clerkenwell and Old Street, where I got a bus home. Just walking past Kings Cross and Old Street there were still ambulances sitting there with patients, police cars with sirens going off, everything cordened off to traffic etc - this is 8 hours after it happened. It just suddenly hit me and I really need a hug. The first person I see at Nethers tomorrow is likely to get me blubbering all over them. Fortunately I carried my laptop all the way and can 'work' from home tomorrow. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

Gary McGuiness was putting together a list of insurers, and I think he was trying to get it onto the bpa website. Not sure if it's there, but try him if you don't get any helpful responses here. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

I had missed your first post, hence a late reply. First off, I'm really curious on how you get on with that link cpoxon posted, as my actuaries tell me it's not worth working out how much to load the premiums for as the UK market is so small. My own experience was that the cover under my endowment policy is still valid, I took it out before I started and called them after I started and they were happy. So I'm holding on to my endowment as a life policy rather than as an investment! tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

In addition to the comments above, a couple of coached dives will help work out what your problem is. It could be partly you, partly the others you are jumping with each having the opposite problem. A couple of people I was jumping with this week-end (I do low-time load organising) felt that wearing lead was 'cheating' and that they should learn a better body position. I explained that lead/nylon/cotton jumpsuits/baggy shirt over the top are all perfectly acceptable actions to make sure you are flying comfortably in a neutral position at the same speed as the others. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. He did the same for me - but weirdly enough it was one of your zippers from the wingsuit you lent me for a week! tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

Unless the DZ in question happened to be the closest! Haven't done an AA routefinder, but isn't Headcorn closer to central London, and easily accessible by train from London? Not sure how far Redlands is from Swindon station mind you. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

I had the same problems when I was at your stage, found some friends to jump with and sort of learnt that way. Not very well in some respects, had fun in the tunnel unlearning some things! It's one of the reasons I became a coach, and I'm happy to coach anyone who wants FS coaching, irrespective of what stickers they may have in their licence, and find I learn things on those jumps myself sometimes. A number of dropzones in the UK also have load organisers who will do smaller groups with more individual coaching as a result for people not comfortable with 14 ways. I feel if I mention names here it may be advertising, but if you let me know where you are in the UK, I'll PM you some places you may want to get in touch with. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. If you go to Boots, they have sets for whitening which include trays you mould yourself from what I've seen. Don't know how much they cost, I was just after more whitening gel for the trays my dentist made for me. I found that initially the whitening stuff would make my teeth sensitive and the dentist suggested putting sensodyne in the trays for 10 mins before washing them out and doing the whitening stuff. So perhaps you could just wear it in the plane on the way up, put it in a ziplock bag in a pocket part way up then you wouldn't have to worry about it on opening! that gagging thing was meant for when you're on the ground, surely tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. I buy Tony Suits as I go to Z-hills regularly, that way I can get them to measure me and if it doesn't fit when I pick it up, they could change it there and then. In reality I've never had to have anything changed for not fitting properly, and I like the groovy alternative fabrics he's got like the bubbles etc. The concern I always have with suits is how long it takes to get them in the first place, then that if something isn't quite right you end up having to wait again. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Not the normal ones that you walk through. In India I got manually 'swiped' and the detector beeped when going over my belly. The girl looked a little confused until I showed her the belly button piercing, then she couldn't stop smiling! tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. I'll most likely be there, may be a little later if the contract I've been working on for the last 6 months finally gets signed and we have a bit of a drink at work. Also working from home Friday, so just need to make sure I'm up by 8:15 rather than 6 am for a change! tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. I'm no rigger or manufacturer, and don't know how much of the pack volume is actually due to number of seams (a reasonable amount I guess). One thing to bear in mind though is that 7 cell canopies are 'taller' than 9 cell canopies, so although there are fewer pieces of fabric to make a 7 cell, some of pieces are bigger than on the 9 cell of equivalent size. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Left end cell slow to open on 2 jumps in a row
skytash replied to Brian425's topic in Gear and Rigging
I would say 2 jumps in a row isn't that much. If it continues and is always on the left, consider how balanced you are in your harness when you put it on. Me legstraps feel uneven when they are, which is how I wear my harness with my Sabre 2. With my Spectre, it opens consistently with a right turn if I have my harness on that way and I make sure the leg straps feel even, although they aren't when jumping the Spectre (in the same container by the way). I only started playing with this when I had around 10 openings in a row with a turn/closed end cell in the same direction/side. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Who's going to Kate's camp/100 ways in May

as JP said - wingsuits. I did a lot of asking around experienced people at my DZ both who jump pull-out and those who jump BOC. I reached a similar conclusion to yours, but wanted to try a wingsuit when I got 500 jumps so went for the BOC. I would say it was only trying wingsuits that made me decide that way. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

Although I haven't done the search yet, I know that this kind of opening has been discussed here, I call them 'jello openings'. I had a few when the canopy had around 200 jumps, checked the trim etc and couldn't find anything wrong, then they stopped. A friend of mine had a similar experience also around 200 jumps on her Spectre. Neither of us were doing birdman at the time and both thought it was more related to the age of the canopies that they became more prone to bottom skin inflation around then. The slider stowing is new to me though, and is good to know! tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

Travel Insurance That Includes Skydiving
skytash replied to craigwalsh's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
try Axa, they cover skydiving as part of their high risk sports activities. I think someone was compiling a list of insurance providers and that it was to go onto the BPA website. Not sure if it's there yet or not, but you may want to check. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe
