many of the national associations have maps (UK & Germany definitely do) and I found that lots of DZ homepages have links to their national association. A bit of a long way round to get to a map, it has worked for me in the past though. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

At a push it might - but I'd check with Sunpath. I used to pack a Spectre 135 into an NJ. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

can't agree more, vt1977 (she'd recovered) and I did 4-way with Gary & Mark - coaching was great and in terms of airflow, I didn't notice I had my foot out of the door until someone pushed me back in (and yes, we did get ourselves better positioned as things went on) tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. It can also have something to do with forward movement. Can an instructor and TI please help me out on this, however this is what I remember being told: canopies have a certain forward speed and if the winds go over this speed, there is a good chance that the student will be travelling either backwards or at least not forwards as they approach to land. Chances of injury are higher in that event. tandem canopies *may* be designed with a different 'natural' forward speed and can therefore avoid the going backwards stuff up to higher wind speeds. I may be completely wrong on this - so please correct me if I have mis-understood this stuff. I'm no TI or other instructor, nor a canopy designer. I just wanted to give the DZ's the benefit of doubt that it isn't all about money tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

I found the 'green' parking area yesterday, which is free . It's by the garden centre and the Premier Inn opposite the main Xscape entrance the other end of the mall from the tunnel. You do have to cross a main road, to get to Xscape/airkix but if you are like me and want to spend your money on tunnel time and water to hydrate, it's another option! tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. you'd better be well again now, i'll keep Gary and Mark to myself at airkix tomorrow if you are likely to infect any of us with some virus. And I'm sure parsnips are good at curing all diseases, eat more parsnips tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

I disagree - it's my birthday and seeing as I don't care how old my body is (my mind swings between 6, 13 and 19) it's the day I celebrate that once again I've survived another year without doing something stupid enough to not survive! Definitely NOT a bad day, and refuse to celebrate the Have A Bad Day Day! tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

I dont have many many tracking dives, but I have yet to do one where I wasnt arching to stay down with the rabbit. And I`m not the worlds best tracker either (gravity loves me ). In a similar position as Remster, I actually don't enjoy tracking dives that much as even in my FF suit I usually outtrack the rabbit in height definitely usually forward speed too. There are a few people around who I love doing tracking dives with 'cos they really challenge me (although I still wasn't allowed to wear my FS suit ). That's what comes from learning tracking from flyangel2, kallend and GaryMcG - bodies designed for tracking and I challenge any free-flyer to beat any of them on horizontal separation. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. It is not part of the official rules (and we have many!), there is likely to be an investigation of the individual case and a decision is made for that individual based on the investigation. This could be indefinite grounding, may be a requirement to attend another ground school. In the first instance it is at the descretion of the CCI (Chief Instructor, with similar duties to a US S&TA). tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. I remember an event where I spent most of my time covered in dust and there were others on crutches 'cos I decided the dust can be washed out but the sprained ankle couldn't. You cannot expect to always stand up your landings, and as said above, PLFs can save you from ambulances. Be ready to PLF every jump and be pleasantly surprised when you stand it up! tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

when I saw a new post on the thread I hoped it was Maggie saying things had been recovered. Unfortunately not. I know you are involved in all sorts of other stuff at the moment so really don't need this, I do know though that you will get through everything with that big smile on your face in the end that you greeted me with in Perris last month! The people who did this deserve to look like this once we're done with them! tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe

hope to meet you soon-ish saf40, when I saw the was a new post to the thread at 6:30 am, I wondered whether anyone had done any drunk-posting! Didn't manage to go either, any gossip? indeed you do, especially on a free-flown exit (ie where no grips are taken in the door). In that situation a front floater should aim to jump out aiming for the wingtip and the rear floater can just drop off, in both cases slightly before the 'go' to make room for the divers to get out of the door. Some people need to practice the leaving a bit early thing, hence imply it's a bit complicated. tash Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Avril Sloe
