  1. If pets could, how could you tell that your pets can tell that you're depressed? FallRate
  2. Just to clarify, Kallend, I made no mention of oil. You joined my post with Gravitymaster's. FallRate

  4. Projected to be the largest in History? That would make sense...IF we go to war. During WWII the cost of military spending approached half of the US GNP. This was easily accomodated at the time considering that prior to the war the US Federal Government operated with very little reliance on the Federal Income Tax, which prior to the war applied to only 5% of the population. So by expanding this tax, the gap in spending was easily bridged. As our government has become accustomed to having this revenue during times of peace, it would make sense that another large scale war would cause serious difficulties in balancing the budget. And which party has controlled Congress for the vast majority of time since this broad expansion of the Federal Income Tax? Anyone? "Hmm?".... indeed! FallRate
  5. I just flew Southwest to Florida and back. Carried on my rig in a gear bag both ways and security didn't even ask me to open it. I've never thought of myself as lucky before. I also went up to the skydeck of the Sears tower during my switch in Chicago and you have to go through security there. A sign read "all bags will be searched", but they didn't search it. Unfortunately I couldn't find access to the roof. FallRate
  6. Really? Interestingly, while the budget deficit increased dramatically in the 80's the "power of the purse" was controlled by...anyone?...anyone?...yes, the democrats, as they had majority control of congress. FallRate
  7. Mountainman...Have you tried Mad River Mountain? Not really a mountain, more of largish hill. But it should help. FallRate
  8. That seems fair. In much the same way that everyone blames Bush for our current economic slowdown. I have wondered how it is that Bush could have been responsible for a the overvaluation of the stock markets in the mid-90s. Guess he's a super evil jeen-yus. FallRate
  9. Kind of makes you miss the relative tranquility of the Cold War. FallRate
  10. It does appear that someone wrote this piece with the hope of seeing the theme appear in a Tom Daschel speech. (The Onion Rules!!!) Utter nonsense, like most of what is found on the Internet. By the way, all of those truly "in-the-know" are aware that this war will prevent the rebuilding of "The Temple" which would serve to fulfill Biblical prophecy and usher in the end times. Duh! Y2K didn't bother me. 2005 on the other hand... *shiver*. FallRate
  12. Incorrect. There was a case just like this within the past ten years. Can't remember where it took place, but it was another noisy flag keeping people awake. I wonder if it would be acceptable for me to sing the Star Spangled Banner at the top of my lungs on my back porch at two in the morning? Why is it that lunacy is acceptable (often revered) if it is grounded in religion or patriotism? FallRate

  18. Hey Kelly, how many jumps do you have now? (For those who are unaware, Kelly is another one of those DZ kids who got to start jumping at age 12. Little bastard!!!) By the way...will you be on the Z-Hills trip? FallRate
  19. This is a quick and effective way of evaluating a potential mate on the first date. FallRate
  20. That doesn't sound much like a defense, Bill. It sounds a bit more like a piss-poor attempt at being clever and witty while pointing out that the Prez is "no rocket scientist". Though I appreciate your willingness to share such tidbits of information with us all, I already read about it in last month's issue of "Duh" magazine. FallRate

  22. CD Collection? I figured out yesterday I have about 1.5 rigs worth of CD's. It's kind of bumming me out. Too bad I can't sell 'em for the same price I paid. FallRate
