This was mentioned in a General Skydiving thread, and I had to look it up myself. CNN has a special version of its news for airports which does not display news about airplane crashes, likely to prevent panic among the travelers. http://www.hollywood.com/news/detail/article/1097712 http://www.cnn.com/Airport/ True, I could only find one site listing a specific case where they blocked a crash from being shown, but I've heard other people talk about it also. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Does USPA insurance pay off if the incident breaks BSR's? If it does, would not paying for claims violating BSR's be a feasible part of a solution? Sorry if my posts sound unintelligent or desparate, this issue just really gets me paranoid and I'm just throwing out ideas. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Totally wild idea, and I have no idea if its economically feasible, but...... How about the USPA insuring itself? Take all that dues money and put it in an account. Take out of it for claims, maybe contract someone for investigating the claims. For the first couple years the insurance might be pretty crappy with huge deductibles but after a couple years of saving, USPA could save up enough to have substantial coverage. And to anyone who says it can't work, I can virtually guarantee you that whoever USPA was using for insurance was making a profit. What do they have that we don't? Lawyers I guess...... __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.

i remember trying to study calculus for an exam and my mind would wander off to thoughts of freefall. I wound up with a C. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait. -
How about a deductible increase (I don't know if there even is a deductible as it is now) Such as a $250 deductible? An increased deductible, drop demo insurance, and maybe raise the membership costs a little? The combination of these three might be able to do it? __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.

Thanks! Thats what I was wondering. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.

I have been reading that "the only thing you will need your D for are PRO ratings and tandems" with the new liscense. Is this true, and if not, what about demos? __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.

Well I dont think i've ever driven far for just one jump, but last Spring Break my girlfriend and I drove from New Jersey to Zephyrhills and she did one tandem. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.

Why isn't this bigger news? I can't find it anywhere on the USPA website (I'm at work so I cant read parachutist until i get home) but this sounds like it has the capacity to really screw up skydiving in general. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. When purchasing a reserve, does it REALLY matter what brand it is? I know the PD advertisements say otherwise, but as long as its TSOed is there a meaningful difference between name brand and generic? Also, does anyone have comments on buying used reserves? __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.

A device recently introduced by the Relative Workshop that basically, in a cutaway, uses your main as the pilot chute for your reserve. It does nothing if you pull your reserve without a main being out. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.

Maybe we should make this a sticky? Also, I was reading through your links trying to find one with the answers to the 290 questions possible for the written exam, but they all seem to be links to purchase books. Is this information available online anywhere? (Maaan i'm cheap!!!) __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.

I think that reality is liberally biased. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.

You realize we could all be arrested for talking about this, under the PATRIOT act? This is kind of like how they tell you to turn off your cell phones and laptops while a plane takes off, because it could interfere with the navigation or something. How insecure is their stuff if consumer electronics can mess with it? __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.

Hung out at the DZ on Saturday, but Sunday it was too cloudy so everyone left. It cleared up in about two hours (naturally) and I went with a friend of mine to a dam nere here where everyone hangs out.... I did the scariest thing i have ever done.. There is a rope swing there that if you let go at the peak, you are at least 45 feet off the water. Scared the shit out of me!! __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.

I would never imagine the phrase "Accomplished Skydiver" to be used for a real skydiver, which makes me think its just Hollywood image. And way to go Ivan, coming through with the pics __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.

How is restricting jokes about a person's hair color any different than restricting jokes about a person's skin color or gender? I think that both should be covered by the 1st amendment (I know they dont have the Bill of Rights in Bosnia but its a moral thing too) but the latter two have already been done to an extent in the US with racial or sexual harassment lawsuits. __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. The barometric pressure in comparison with the ground barometric pressure is how the Cypres (and all altimeters I've heard of besides GPS) tells whether it is below or above 750 feet __________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
