Diploma in Commercial Skydiving, NZ, skydivingnz
spencer replied to Bennef's topic in Safety and Training
The course when it began had more winners than loosers, this is going back some years. There company is designed to get you to part with your hard earned cash, either that or a big student loan. And really when it began it was a brain wave, hats off to them. My advise would be to anyone, find a busy, ie a DZ that has slots for fun jumpers, do your aff, buy a second hand rig, because your down size soon, and learn from the jumpers with experence, that will "save" you a fortune" To get a student to splash out about 8 grand on a new rig, really says it all, Like alot of people have said most leave there brains at the front gate when entering a DZ. -
Getting Big to get back from a long spot????
spencer replied to azureriders's topic in Safety and Training
there long spots, and there are longer spots, know your cut off point asap, and pick a landing area near you, set up early, and land how you were taught. and take the long walk back, take alook around up high, pull higher, you dont see many tandems landing off, because they pul higher. -
are these video cameras any good for jumping
-
I thought after 7 aff levels a hop and pop, 10 consoles, you have showed who ever it is, that you can take care of yourself on a skydive, Yes still a beginer but , you wouldnt be let loose to do concoles if the instructor thought you werent ready.
-
it sounds like different dzs have different student programs
-
So these 5 jumps you mention, are they on top of the 25 making a total of 30 jumps. does that sound about right.
-
I thought console jumps were solo jumps which the student did after finishing all the aff levels, I do not see anywhere on the proficiency card about having to do coach jumps,
-
If the uspa states whats needed on there proficiency, there nothing on the card about coach jumps. Theres the basic aff levels a hop and pop, pack and jump the rig. some canopy skills a exam at the end , some spotting, equipment knowledge, land within 20 meters of target at least 5 times, emergency review. But nothing about one on one coach jumps, Total 25 jumps. So let me get this right, if a student can do all the above "without" any repeat jumps or coach jumps he can send of for his USPA A Licence. Total 25 jumps.
-
do you have to do a one on one coach jumps for the A licence???
-
thanks for the info gato
-
please tell me how many jumps in total for A lience. with no repeat jumps. please
-
Would some one kindly tell me How to get a USPA A Licence. Please spell it out to me. From start to finish. No OF jumps required, ect ect. What do I need to do, AAF levels, consoles. ect ect. Please spell it out for me

Maybe the only solution is to glue a step ring to it, I have seen this done before, not the ideal solution but maybe the only solution.

my 1st and last day at the Irish parachute club
spencer replied to henryrsaff's topic in Safety and Training
What should have happened was thee instructor who checked henrys log book and spoke to him about his experence , remember henry had a 5 month lay off from his last jump, should have insisted henry do a check out jump with a instructor, I am not putting the blame on any one person, just a brake down of DZ procedures. -
my 1st and last day at the Irish parachute club
spencer replied to henryrsaff's topic in Safety and Training
Saw him from Arizona , at last someone with a sense of humor , as for bricking it, I find that remark some what affending, said by someone who has little understanding into what some people go through with low jump numbers,or maybe even gets off on seeing people , to use his words bricking it. we can all say what should have happened or what henry should have done. He cut away a canopy he thought at the time he could not land safely, and landed safely with his reserve, but was made to feel ""humilliated for his actions -
because he was not given one
-
the reason I am asking this is because someone at the dz did a hop and pop and could not release the brakes no matter how hard he tried to pull down to release them. And I think I remember seeing some handles with a pin and to release them had to be lifted up.
-
can anyone tell me if on some rigs, the brake handles have to be pulled up to release them before pulling down,
-
your the 2nd reply to advise me to get out of the sport if its no longer fun, thank you for your advise. I know there are people who will have read my post who know where Im coming from, some wont want to admit to it.
-
I have met alot of instructor who no longer jump for fun, yes there are still some who jump for fun. but not many. its become a job. some lucky people get free jumps if there are empty slots, others have to pay, maybe at a reduced price, I dont want to get into that argument. So many DZ´s I have visited have had in fighting between staff members, which can´t be fun working under these conditions. just out of interest how many fun jumps did you do last year???.
-
are there any instructors out there who work in the industry who can remember when skydiving was fun.
-
