  1. I saw a video clip on this site acouple of days ago with what must have been a student spinning badly belly up and down and the jm pulling low + having two canopys out and landing into trees, can't seem to find it again, does anyone know where it's gone. Thanks.
  2. I've just found out that the USA doe'nt charge Duty and Tax on safety head gear being sent from abroad. What a bonus that is, unlike here in NZ where you can add 30% onto the value of the item, what a drag. Tax TAX and more Tax.
  3. Does Fiji have a drop zone?. Has it ever had a drop Zone?.
  4. I have a friend who weighs 210lb/ 101kg, without rig, he is buying a new wings container with a 210 silhouette main, he has about 50 jumps and is jumping a student telesis with a 270 main. He has been advised to get a 210 by people far more experienced than me, that a 210 will be fine for him, but he is far from ringing the neck out of the 270, is this bad advice. thanks
  5. You've flitesuit and tonysuit on your doorstep why shop the other side of the world???.
  6. Is it easy to put in and take out the video camera on this helmet, as the camera has to be fixed in place from inside the helmet. Is this alot of hassle when filming tandems and scenery as this is best done holding the camera by hand and getting the shots, much better than having to point the helmet everywhere. would the bone head with a flat side and top and a D box be a better bet. Thanks Eddie.
  7. Anyone who can pack a zp canopy and is coming to New Zealand and wants a place to stay and three meals aday get in touch, time is running out. thanks eddy.
  8. I have a problem. I own a Duc 748, but since I have taken up skydiving when the lads ring me for a ride out I am turning them down in favour of jumping, to start with I would try and fit both in. I would only ride on nice sunny day's, so yes I'm not a true die hard all weather rider, I've done all that. I have told the lad's that I thinking of sell the bike and they all say I'd be crazy. But none of them have jumped and when I tell them about how it feels, well you know, there not on my wave band. So to have a bike just sitting there in the garage when the weathers nice, when someone could be out having fun on it. To own a Duc was once a dream, then I took up skydiving, the rest you know. Eddy.
  9. Will I ever crack this landing where I want to thing. The drop zone that I jump at is a very big area and I mean big, but the area I'm told I should land in is close to some tarmac runway. I tend to land way off. And not always on my feet. I have 65 jumps and have been told I've done enough jumps to be landing in the right area. I have asked to go back on radio, but one of the instructors says no, he does'nt like radios as people start to depend on them. I have down sized and will be getting a 190 soon, I borrowing a 200 at present. But learning to fly a canopy is proving a tuff nut to crack. Is this a common problem, and I really want to master it, ie fly the canopy and not let it fly me. I'll not do any low turns so I tend to fly on much further than where I want to land. Advise please.
  10. Hi Hook, it's not me that keeps thinking smaller, it's the advice that I get. I did express my interest and concern in the 210, but kept getting told a 190 silhouette would be fine. It's down to me at the end of the day I know. Everything it very tandem based here, so sitting down and talking things over is not easy. If the 210 is the way to go then thats where I'll go.
  11. yes the same person. Are you saying that because I weigh 177lbs I should have at least a 177 reserve. I take it that different make's of canopys that are the same size fly differently. They said the 190 silhouette would be very user friendly the way it flys.
  12. I'am thinking of upsizing to a wings container, with a 190 silhouette main, and a 176 pd reserve, I have been told this would be a good first rig after the student 270 telesis, I did ask about a 210 taking my exit weight into account, but was told the silhouette 190 would be ok. Please tell me your views. Also could you tell me which deployment method to go for. Thanks again for all your advise
  13. That's it I'm going to buy a bigger canopy say a 210 , I don't care how big I go as long as I get down safely. Thanks for all your help .
  14. I will give it another try, the 169 does'nt scare me, I will in not be doing any low turns , and will jump only in conditions that are well within my limit, I will ask for radio to also help me, It just came down to flaring at the right time " Timing" . Some were just abit to soon and some to late, looking down instead of ahead. Thanks for all your advice. Keep it coming.
  15. On reading up on down sizing, my exit weight is 205lbs, so from a 270 student rig, what would be a nice size first rig, I'm in no rush to fly a hankerchief. Thanks
  16. I have'nt had my A licence long, I used one of the student rigs, a telesis 270. Anyway after 50 jumps I brought a senergy 169 with a 220 reserve and cypress. My first two landings went well Flared at the right time, but after that it all started to go wrong, and over the next seven landings both ankles and knees took pain, we had wanted to jump all week but my confidence was fast disapearing. I weigh 177pounds, I have'nt jumped since about 4 weeks. Have I taken on more than I can chew or do I need to give it more time, there was alot of turbulence on the landing area. Any advice , Thanks .
  17. What are the best and safest tandem rigs and how much do they cost??.
