  4. It is getting closer to completion that is for sure. From what I have heard they had some issues with the design of the whole thing. I could be wrong but my impression was that the parts weren't fitting together right. It has been taken care of but I think it put them behind a week or to. Look like it should be ready middle or end of next month. They have just in the last week started putting up the outer walls, and it seems like a bunch of activity is going on inside of it. Check Perriscam they have been putting up pics still. Dom
  5. Careful JP doesn't like the term "lackey". We prefer to call him our "goofy bitch". Only behind his back though! SHHHHHHH! Dom

  14. Quote This whole thread started when I complained about not being able to jump at a smaller drop zone. _________________________________________________ This whole thing got started when you flamed small DZ's as backwards. Scott, I have met you in person and your not as bad as you seem on this site. Just think about what you say before you type it. You may not offend so many people. You are coming off as a bit of a whiner. Just enjoy the sport and experience something beofre you comment on it. I started at a 182 dz. I will say what others have already said. They are great. I did just under 100 jumps my first year in the sport, because I was at a small DZ. The best thing about the small DZ atmosphere is the family feeling. WE would sit around weekend after weekend in bad weather just hoping to get in a jump. Most of the time we didn't, but it was the need to be around other skydivers and at least watching a video or talking about it that kept us coming back every weekend rain or shine, sleet or snow. There we where just as happy as can be. During the winter the DZO put us to work trying to make the DZ better for us all. One of the best days I ever had at a DZ was spent freezing my ass off fixing the roof to our bulding in the snow! Not a single load went up that weekend, but we all had a good time. Help me out here Jack Gramley. Tell this youngster how it is! How many days did we sit around Blue Skies and just B.S. around. The best people I have ever met in skydiving where at that DZ. No offense to the people that I know and love at Perris. To this day when I see one of them I get all kinds of memories that swell up in my mind. Good times and bad. I wouldn't change a thing about my first few years in the sport. When you grow in the sport like that it gives you more of an apprectiation for what you have when you do get to a big place like Perris. I feel sorry for you that you didn't get that oppprtunity! Now stop making yourself seem like an ass and think of how others will take what you say before you say it. Dom Dom
  15. Couldn't post at work today. Glad to hear you came out of that ok! I guess this proves it probably doesn't work. I am glad it was just to damn hot this weekend to put a suit on, or I may have had the same experience. I hope people with low wingsuit jumps don't try this. I didn't think it was possible, but didn't think it would cause that sort of trouble. Hopefully the BMI in question has read this thread and stops telling folks that they do this. Newbies are very easy to impress with tall tales and I shutter to think of any that may try it and find themselves in that position. To the BMI in question. Stop the madness! Be responsible. How bad would you feel if this happened to a newbie and maybe they went in? You were telling this tale to some very experienced jumpers and none of them had the heart to tell you to your face it really isn't possible. If I had known that what happened to Scott was a possiblity I would have stepped up and said something when you where telling your story! If you can do this, I will be right behind Scott in saying that I am wrong! Just had to bring it to the attention of someone and didn't want to embarass you in public. Hope you have learned a lesson. You make yourself look bad when you go to a big DZ like Perris and say things like that in front of some of the most experinced skydivers in the world. People with more wing suit jumps then you have skydives! It also hurts the credibilty of BMI's (just for the record I haven't seen met anyothers that believe your tale). Imagine if AFF instructors where out there telling students things that weren't true, how long do you think they would be working with students after they where found to be full of tall tales? LEt me apologoze in advance if you are able to do this! I doubt it very much! Dom
  16. Call Ralph!? You must not like that guy. Call somebody, anybody but Ralph. I have just started jumping the Vision 132 loaded at about 1.7 or 1.8. I have had fun with it so far. I think it is a very nice canopy for somebody as their first elliptical. The openings have been ok so far. A few that where not hard at all just "brisk". Played around with a few different pack jobs and it seems that splitting the nose is the trick. Nice and on heading. Very responsive with the toggles and very forgiveing on the risers for final. It has a very fast recovery arch to it. Which is helpful if you find yourself coming out of a turn a little too low. I put 7 jumps on it this weekend in fairly high winds on Saturday (the students had been grounded). Then on Sunday jumped it in almost no winds and swopped it about half the distance of the landing area at Perris with only a 90 degree front riser turn started at about 500 ft or so. It shut down real nice (only a few steps to run it out). It handled well in the bumps at higher altitudes and got me back from a long spot in half brakes. If you can get your hands one one give it a try if you are looking into going elliptical for the first time. Dom
  17. i learned my lesson with (no offense) trusting pilots and GPS years ago. Where are you Jack Gramley? We got out of a Porter at 15 or 16k looked down and saw that we where going in the trees whether we like it or not. I guess if we had had more then 1000 jumps between the 10 of us we might not have gone. Bottom line 2 guys ended up in trees and I missed a huge drop off by no more than 15 ft. Dom
  18. QuoteUmmm.....ever hear of jumpers NOT climbing out on the lights properly? Yah, it's always the pilot's fault. Never the jumpers. __________________________________________________ Touche! I was just saying the same thing to someone the other day! IT was ment more as a joke. [walks away grumbling about pilots and stuff] Dom
  19. Ben and I think even more so Pat have always wanted a DC-9 and they will have one. Don't expect this thing to fly all the time that is for sure. I imagine it will give more then a few rides when it is first up and running. Then more then likely do the boggie circut. Last word I got was it was a done deal, just gotta get it and the new engines here. They even put pictures of it up and announced the purchase on the DZ loud speaker last weekend! So unless something happened between now and then, it seems to be a done deal! YAhoo! Dom
  20. Can you say, WTF! Shoot the pilots! Shoot the pilots! Dom
  21. Keep it up Paul! It was a lot of fun watching Omniskore in the store yesterday! We where cheering when we saw the Mudhens and the School Boys, even if it was really slow and didn't get to see all of the jump. Tell them all Perris is watching and wishing them all the best! Damn weather! Even got a shot or two of Katalyst! Dom
  22. Mike, has a definate hunch in the back and some not so good feet and ankles. He just hit a wall two weeks or so ago at the Royal Goge bridge. Yes, I said wall strike on a bridge. That is the Mike we love! Always finding new ways to hurt himself. He is still LO'ing and doing a lot of crew. Forget the whole 9 lives thing when it comes to Mike, that guys must be on his 9th cat by now!!!!!! He was out jumping this weekend and even stood up one of his landings! Dom
  23. Come to the camp and I'll let you borrow one while your here. Dom
