  1. Yeah, I agree, but music tastes vary so widely... I'm sure many people would think that any list that I put together contained about 25% rubbish. Quite a bit of it too. I was surprised to see NWA's Straight Outta Compton on the list. I think they blew it on the Beastie Boys though; I thought Pauls Boutique was a much better album than Licensed to Ill. Word.
  2. It is. "96 CLASH LONDON CALLING 1979" I own or have owned in the past over 70 of these... mostly on vinyl. Not a bad list, imho.

    How bad am I?

I took a little Captain to class with me this evening.
  4. When I did my first jump, I chose where to jump based on location - it was the closest dz to where I lived.

Regardless of the fact that something skydiving related is happening in your town sometime in the near future, you should be doing your homework instead of posting on dropzone.com. But then again, so should I.
  6. Be smarter than they were. Learn how to operate the buckle on the ground before jumping it. Problem solved. I have a Gunner with the seat belt style buckle and I love it. It's the quietest and most comfortable open face helmet on the market. Bonehead takes very, very good care of their customers, and they are located in the same country as you are so if you ever have a problem you won't have to deal with customs to get the problem fixed. But like others have said, best bang for your buck right now would be to buy a Protec.
  7. Why do you keep doing this to yourself? Geez, it only took one PAC to cure me forever of my desire to be a boogie organizer...
  8. Oh you are such an old fuddy duddy. What could possibly happen? I mean, damn, he's stood up all but two of his 33 landings and he's really accurate.
  9. I agree. Teaching skill or lack thereof varies by person, not number of jumps. For flying skills, the jumps done in the certification course adequately represent what's going to happen with a "student" with 8+ jumps. If someone with 100 jumps is capable of being "there" on those jumps, why shouldn't they have the rating?
  10. Nothing at the moment; got discs in my neck going out, I'm not jumping for awhile. Last canopy was a Spectre 170 at about 0.9. Next will be a Spectre 150 w/dacron at about 1.1.
  11. Add another. My next canopy will be a Spectre with Dacron lines.
  12. Girl, I went back after almost 25 years. Piece of cake. You'll do fine. Good on ya for going back!
  13. But outside your tent is okay, right?
  14. We'll take two of those. Thanks.
  15. I have back and neck injuries. I can highly recommend a Spectre at about 1.0. But remember that ANY canopy can whack you. If a hard opening is going to really mess you up...think really, really hard about that risk before you jump again.
  16. In addition to not having a light on, do not make noise, no matter how good the sex is. Remember that your neighbors have video cameras, video cameras also record audio and anything on digital tape could very well end up on the internet. And always have the random sex partner leave before the people around you wake up. You really don't want to hear them saying "you slept with HER/HIM?"
  17. As long as you don't claim to be all-seeing and all-good in addition, you have my permission to be a know-it-all.
  18. In my intro philosophy class I learned that you can't determine the reality of something when you can't see it. You can't determine the reality of something if you can only see part of it. You can't determine the reality of something if you can see all of it. You can't even determine the reality of something if you can see, smell and feel it. After all, there remains the possibility that we live in a Matrix-like world where nothing is real. Philosophers are very sick people.
  19. In the dead of winter. Where it snows alot. That's hardcore.
  20. Some week in the future those of us who live in the waaaaay east bay (ie Sacramento area) would love to host this... that is if any of you would be willing to drive out this far...
  21. If you haven't jumped a 190 in the past, do yourself a favor and do your first jump or two back on whatever canopy it was that you did your last jump on. Yes, even if that means you'll have to rent a rig. There are many people out there who can explain from personal experience why the above is a good idea.
  22. I agree. Both of them are simply awesome singers and neither seems to have an attitude about themselves. I'd be very happy to see either one of them win the whole thing. On another note, I can't believe I got sucked into the whole American Idol thing this season.
  23. Hey Yoleska! I'm Sky Blumenthal. Nice to meetcha. Only thing I don't like about Second Life is that there doesn't seem to be much interaction between people, way less than in other sims I've been involved in (Cybertown and The Sims Online). I do like that there is an option for those of us who can't/won't pay for it, although it sucks that we don't get the weekly L$'s, and the only ways to make L$'s are either spam generators ("Hippie Cash") or time intensive ("camping"). I stopped by the dz a couple of times; buncha skygods imho. Nobody would talk to me.
  24. What he said. Most tents have a rainfly that covers a small area outside the actual tent; that's where you put your pack (and muddy boots). I have a Mountain Hardwear single person tent that I think is awesome. We've also got a North Face 2 person tent that is super sturdy, if a bit heavy for a long/fast trip. One nice thing about sharing a tent is that you can split up the pieces for carrying - one person gets the tent and footprint, other person gets the poles and fly. Where do you live? Are you training for a big trip?
