Better yet, sell car and replace it with a bicycle (preferably a free or really cheap older one off craigslist or equivalent "free ad" sites/publications) and/or walk and/or use public transportation. Not only will you save the car payment, you'll also save the insurance, repairs, gas and registration fees. Forced exercise isn't a bad thing either. I'm positive you can find someone to give you rides to and from the dz. - Stop buying clothes/shoes. If you absolutely have to replace something, shop only at off-price stores (Ross, Marshalls, etc). - Stop buying bottled water. Get a Brita or other purifier instead. Take Nalgene bottles full of "home purified" tap water when you go out. - Sell any furniture you might have that is worth any money and replace it with free stuff off craigslist. - Sell any expensive jewelry/electronics/toys/etc that you have but never or very rarely use. - Find a cheaper place to live. - Quit the health club. You're biking/walking everyplace now so you don't need to go there. - Cut up credit cards and focus on paying them off ASAP. - Find a sugar daddy.

Please leave enough time for a post-coital shower. Your and her co-workers will thank you.

Amateur. WFFC '04. 10 days, 6 jumps. LP '05. 10 days, 2 jumps. LP '06. 10 days, 1 jump. But since I can't jump right now, I know I'll do better at LP this year.

Talon - approx $1000 Cypres 2 - approx $1000 PD143R w/2 jumps - approx $800 So no, I wouldn't say it's worth US$4000 unless there is a main of equivalent age that comes with it.

...it's time to fuck with one. I already entered bogus info a couple times... and I forwarded the email to the appropriate enforcement type places... Anybody out there have any other good (ie ) ideas?

What makes you think the same thing couldn't happen to you at anytime at your home dz? The only 100% foolproof way to avoid dying while skydiving is to not skydive.

Hmmm.... Life is good. Beer is good. Beer is life. So f(life)=beer, right? I had a math class today if ya couldn't tell.

His description sounds pretty much like how I felt after every boogie I've ever been to. You must be one of those people who go to boogies just to skydive.

I suppose I should point out that her rant was aimed at men who post on Craigslist seeking random sex partners. Does that give you a better idea of what kind of "relationships" she's talking about?

The fact that you have an SO could mean you don't need to read what's in the link..

Read this! Probably NSFW. Definitely funny. And possibly very educational...

I don't know her at all and, to be honest, having never had money people who can afford to do things in this sport that I can't kinda bug me. But it takes way more than money to go from no jumps to medaling at the world level in the space of a few years. Doing that also takes brains, desire, dedication, being coachable and the ability to set and attain goals. Which, judging solely from what I read about her in Skydiving last year, Natasha has in abundance - she earned her money, at a pretty young age. edit to add - Even if we had the money, I seriously doubt that 99% of us could achieve what Natasha has achieved in this sport. I say good for her.

I agree with Andrea. Call it a dream and that's all it will ever be. Make solid plans and you'll find a way to make it happen. I'd suggest fewer places on the intinerary so you can spend more time in each one. The Grand Canyon is close enough that you can do it for a few days (midweek) anytime. You can make Grand Teton/Yellowstone in two days if you shoot up the interstates - and the scenery is stunning even from the interstate, you might want to take three days to drive it. Once you're in the National Park areas camping is easy and safe. Load up on whatever food supplies you're gonna need at a supermarket before you enter the park(s). I prefer motels for interstate travel - there are KOA (Kampground of America) RV parks/campgrounds that have tent areas, but the highway noise tends to be nearby and pretty loud and many of them charge up to $20 a night. Motel 6 is everywhere and outside California runs $30-40 a night. When you're coming down the coast through the Redwoods there will be lots of state park and USFS campgrounds along the way. Make it happen. Solo road trips are a lot of fun.

Well, I would, but he gets all pissy when I aim the strap on in his direction...

Why is it that every time anybody posts a thread even remotely related to anal sex I immediately think of Shannon? Should I feel bad about that? And/or should I stop drinking and go pass out fucking already?

Need canopy selection advice - leaving accuracy jumping
skybytch replied to mircan's topic in Gear and Rigging
ZP. Definitely. This is far from a complete list, but here are a few canopies that are suitable for someone wanting an "all around" canopy. Any of these at a wingloading of 1.0-1.2 should keep someone who doesn't want to swoop happy for quite some time. 7 cells - PD Spectre, Aerodyne Triathlon (you can find good deals on older used ones) 9 cells - PD Silhouette (this is a "hybrid" - zp top skin, rest of canopy F111; easier to pack than an all zp canopy), PD Sabre (probably not the best choice for camera flying but they are everywhere and you can find them cheap used), PD Sabre2, Icarus Safire (be aware that sizing is different on these; a "149" is about equivalent to a 135 from other manufacturers), Icarus Safire2 (updated Safire, sizing is the same as other manufacturers), Aerodyne Pilot. -
Agreed. I was stunned. No way in hell Sundance should have gone home.
-
If UC Davis vet school gets onto on your list, I know of a dropzone close by where you could live pretty cheap.

Lust. Why? Cuz it's gotten me into sooo much trouble soooo many times.... It could have been the tequila, though.

amy and Lindsey are MD's.

Awww, what a bummer. Have that drink (or three) but don't give up! When's the next time you can apply? Can you apply to more/other schools?

Even better, once you know how snug you like the strap have your friendly neighborhood rigger run a few stitches through the webbing. No more slippage. Ever. Period.
