  1. GRRRR Of course you WOULD have to wait til I'm totally unable to come up and participate. I would sooo love to be there. I'm sending Jen in my place though, so make sure she does enough jumps for the both of us Come to Texas and visit soon!! "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  2. Hey everybody!!! I just got back from a kickass weekend at Skydive San Marcos and I gotta say that you guys rule!!! Despite the short, yet frequent weather holds I managed to get in 14 jumps over the weekend. I'm afraid to go back though since the last jump I did before I left was #400. Now you're gonna want to pie me, eh? I never thought one could have so much fun in a pool at a DZ after midnight, but Jamie sure knows how to write some sweet love tunes. Thanks again to everyone there and we'll be seein you soon. "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  3. Looks pretty cool! I just have one question for Alana...from which DZ did you steal those "1-800-SKYDIVE.com" goggles????hmmmmmmm??? "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  4. Be sure you stop by My Brother's "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  5. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! I can't say it enough times. This is EXACTLY what I was thinking of and it's a long time coming. The only thing I might change is that if you click on a state, the nearby dropzones in other states should be visible as well. For example, I live in Florida. Although it is in Alabama, Emerald Coast is the nearest DZ to me. Currently, when I click on Florida, Emerald Coast is not visible. Oh, I would add DZs like the one in NV that you mentioned that only does tandems. We probably have a good number of people who surf looking for a DZ who only want to do a tandem. Just my 2 cents, but again it looks awesome and I really like it! Blue Ones "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  6. Anyone know of the nearest DZ and/or just any DZ that is not too far from Corpus Christi, TX? "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  7. For those who aren't from the Big 10, Ohio State's colors are Scarlet and Gray. I got the legstraps in gray, not white. Just a technicality I suppose hindsight being 20/20 I could have gotten black or red or an whatever, but that's what I picked. "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  8. Well my new rig finally came it! It looks awesome and I love it. It's a Mirage G3 in the colors of my Alma Mater(Ohio State). The only thing about it is that there is this little black dot a little bigger than the size of a dime on the legstrap. I don't think it's that big a deal. The way I see it is that I'll just have it dirty within the first few jumps anyway. However, a few of my friends are saying that seeing how I spent over $1500 on it, I should contact the manufacturer and ask for some type of remuneration. Opinions please! What do you think? 10. And this can be waived as well. The only thing you NEED a coach rating for is to get the other instructional ratings. Hey. I'm curious as to how one gets that requirement waived. I thought I read the SIM and IRM pretty in-depth, but I must have missed where it says jumpers still on student status can jump with someone who is not even coach rated. Could you please explain how one does that? Thanks! "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  11. Just another example to cite when the smartass whuffos ask, "Why do you wear a helmet? It won't make much of a difference if you hit the ground." "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  12. OH! OH! That is SOOOO unfair. If I see a cute little blond girl making a jump I'm going to naturally assume she is at least 18. Then I come to find out she's 16?!? What kind of sh*t is that?? **All in jest, of course** "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  13. Yeah, what was up with the dual FXCs? I know my tax dollars are not going to a $400 toilet seat so why can't the chair force afford a couple of Cypri (or whatever the plural of Cypres is)? BTW, I think it's pretty cool that these guys have the ONLY program in the US (and I'm pretty sure in the world) that has students doing solo jumps from jump #1. "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  14. And of course it's loaded with errors. I like this one: "Both solo methods (AFF and SL) cost at least $100 more than tandem." Excuse me? SL costs $100 more than tandem? Uh huh. "Poynter’s book estimates that there are 300,000 jumps in the U.S. each year, but over the course of a decade there were only 2,500 injuries—mostly sprained ankles or wrists—and 33 deaths. That’s one fatality for every 97,000 jumps." Something about these numbers doesn't seem right. For one thing, we are averaging more than 33 deaths per century. "Plus, if the main chute malfunctions, an emergency unit opens automatically." Is this that cool neat-o new wristwatch I saw in Skydiving a few months ago? I wish the general public would cross check their info before they post it. When you see them jack up stuff like this you know they are doing it to other info as well. It just goes to show you that you really have to stop and think about everything you see/hear in the media. "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  15. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the people. "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  16. I couldn't agree more. Do you gamble? If so, have you ever gone up to the blackjack table, or lottery or whatever and bought a ticket or hand, etc because you "had a feeling." It's just like that. Unless you are truly psychic or something, those feelings don't mean much. This is all given that you don't have any real cause for concern--that it's all just a FEELING with no basis for alarm. Now, if you are about to get on the airplane and the propeller falls off-that's a totally different story. Forget about it, go jump, and have fun. Practice your relaxation techniques and SMILE!!!! "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  17. I think that might be a bit much for DZ.com. All dropzones should have an overhead of the DZ on the DZ. Your brief upon checking in should include a run-down of what's good for landing out and what's not. You might want to check out this link for more suggestions on what to do when you go to a new DZ. Something I would suggest is as soon as you confirm you have a good canopy and traffic is not an issue, immediately assess whether you are going to make it back. If it is at all in doubt, begin to evaluate your outs while you are up high. Actually, I think I learned that in the 1st jump course. But...any word on how this project is coming? "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  18. As I was driving to Ohio last weekend I heard something on Bob and Tom about a guy jumping from a helicopter at about 4000' over the Grand Canyon. They figured it was a suicide, but they haven't found the body yet. Has anybody heard anything about this or does anyone have any more info? I was thinking maybe it was someone who really really wanted to do a Grand Canyon jump and just hid their rig well. "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  19. Well tomorrow I'm going on my first Cross Country solo. Sorry folks, I'm afraid the case of beer does not apply to aviation, only skydiving. Therefore, I'm safe calling it my FIRST. If tomorrow you are going to be in the air in the vicinity of the airspace between Destin and Panama City, Florida between the hours of 9-11AM I would suggest a course diversion!! Finally, a question: do you think I should take my rig with me? I think it might scare my instructor too much. "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  20. Derrrr, I'm a song from the 60's http://www.homestarrunner.com/memorabilia.html "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  21. I know you all were holding your breath waiting to find out what the conclusion to this dilemma would be. Well, I had Skytools fix the CamEye. That cost me about $20 with shipping to Sweden and it took about 2 weeks. The camera was repaired by a store in Pensacola. The place is John McDowell Electronics. They were great! They charged $65 and had it done in under 1 day. The guy that did it said he took apart the camera to remove the part. If anyone ever has this problem in the future I would recommend them. If you need the contact info let me know. Blue Skies "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  22. Yeah give it a few days. I'm living on a Naval Air Base now. At first I thought having planes flying overhead would be cool, but after a few short days it started to get annoying. Waking up to jets every morning isn't so cool. "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  23. Sorry to see such a sight. I hope you get better soon! Drink plenty of fluids and stay out of direct sunlight...or, something. I dunno-I'm not a doctor. "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
  24. Congrats! I'm supposed to solo sometime in the next 2-3 days. Perhaps even tomorrow
  25. Why walk on the beach when you can JUMP on to it? "Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."
