  2. Sorry if this seems unfriendly, it genuinly isn't its simply the best advice we can give you. (besides your gonna get told it by everyone who posts here). Talk to your instructors, they're the only ones that can really help you.   3. Yeah, can't confirm its truth though, may just be a legend. The story was that they flew as low and as slow as pos and dump em into snow banks. Never heard about the white rocks bit though so cannot confirm either way. Did hear that instead of using bungees to stow their lines (whe para-troopers actually started to be issued with chutes), they just used to S-fold them ontop of the bag and poor on hot wax. Once the wax had cooled it would be brittle and just break appart to let the lines out on opening.
  4. I think some people on here are confusing the FF handle with a pull out. Its not. They look the same but the FF handle is just a pud handle on an ordinary through out. I guess you already know that though if your looking into a wings. You'll not be dissapointed whatever you order. I went with spandex and the FF handle. This was based soley on asthetics. I am happy with spandex as so long as you pack your PC right its builit proof. Same goes for cordura from what I hear. The only bad reviews I've heard are from people who dont pack their pc right, and they're asking for trouble whatever system they use. The FF handle is an extremely good design and much safer than an ordinary hacky or monkeys fist. Its very low profile, protects the mouth of the BOC and cannot oscilate in the wind.

  7. Presentation to the wind is also very important. Imagine the formation going out onto the hill. You must present a flat body position to the direction the relative wind is coming from (nose of the plane). It is also important that you present the correct “amount” of body, so try to picture where you are going to be in the formation as you fly it out of the plane. Depending on where you are in the exit, you may be lower or higher than everyone else while on the hill. If you are the lower man, present with more limb exposed. This will tend to flatten the formation out quicker. If you are the high man, pull those heels right up your arse as too much body here will catch the relative wind and flip the formation upside down.
  8. The Sabre 1 is known for slamming people (rightly or wrongly). The Sabre 2 is an entirely different canopy and is defiantly not know for hard openings. There has been a long thread on here about the Sabre 2 regularly giving off heading openings. Given the number of people experiencing this there may well be something more to it than packing or body pos but we don’t know, the jury’s still out on it. Normally though, bad body pos on opening or poor packing will cause an off heading opening. (you’re right, this is where your canopy faces one way and your body faces another). Do a search for hard openings or slammers. There’s plenty of threads on here. The primary cause is a packing error. Some canopies are known to have long snively openings and others known for very fast openings. Most canopies opening characteristics can be changed by simply altering your packing method.
  9. After extensive research and testing, the National Air Safety Executive concluded that 98% of air transport related fatalities occurred at the moment when the plain returns to the ground. Given this alarming statistic, I concluded that the removal of this event from my journey was the safest option. (in case anyone buys into that its complete BS)
  10. yeah, what he said. I use a hot glue gun, it works wonders (and is easy to repeat when it fails again... and it will). Go look at the gear review section of this site and check out what people have said about the Z1. This complaint is a VERY common one and virtually all the advice there is to use a hot glue gun.

  14. jump : 1: exit aircraft in stable arch at 3,500 - static line opens chute 2: same as 1 3: same as 2 but you also pull a pillow with toggle handle out of your boc to prove you can get your rip cord 4: same as 3 5: same as 3 6: 3 second freefall - clear and pull from 4,000ft 7: 5 second freefall - bit higher 8: 10 second freefall - bit higher again 9: 15 second freefall (counting) - big higher again 10: 15 second freefall (on alti pulling at 4k) - same 11: full alt, 90 deg turn, pull at 4k 12: ful alt, 360 or something then you just learn barrel roles, dive exits, tracking, track-turns, unstable exit, then you do a "half series" where you have to do a little of each. then you have your A licence. takes about 18 jumps minimum. you have to pass each level before you can do the next so may be more. think thats how i did it. varies a little between DZ'z. look at the bpa website, full break down of "official" jumps.
  15. good rule of thumb is that you lose 1 degree C per 1000ft you ascend. 10 degree C on the ground equals -4 at 14000ft. thats ambient air temp so you can take another 10-20 off that when you add wind chill. god knows about Fahrenheit
  16. how about they take the 18mil and plow it into chaning society so les/gay/bi/trans people can intergrate into it without being marginalised. why seperate them, sounds a lot like seperate schools for black kids to me. can you see a report on the holo-tv of the future where the governator of cal in 60years time defiantly blocks the door of an all hetero retirement home when the first gays are admitted only to be shifted by an MP? no? then why create an all gay retirement home/school, seems a lot like stepping back in time to me. like tonto says, live and let live

  21. Reminds me of one time we were in the Nomad at hinton... it was a bit choppy and a couple of thou feet up the stall indicator kept going off... (this little buzzing sound a lot like a door buzzer). Some wag at the back of the plane shouts forward to the pilot that he should stop the plane as we forgot someone and they wanted letting in.
  22. MR2Mk1G... it was my car. A toyota MR2 Mark 1 and it's G registered (letter denotes year in UK). I've had it as a e-mail / loggin / screen name for years and changing it would mean changing dozens of different on-line applications, forgetting which ones I've changed, getting locked out etc etc. Besides I loved that little sports car, some of the best handling to be had on the road and shifted well too.
  23. mlw = main lift webbing. its the bit of webbing that goes up your side and holds your cut away and reserve handle. its the part of the rig that changes most between different sizes yes there are different widths. eg Javenlin has a letter then number system. eg I have a C19. The C is the width and the 19 is the MLW length. virtually all Javs are Csomthing though. in practice manufacturors have found that this size fits most. small women are better off with a Bsomthing and big fuck blokes sometimes have a Dsomething. Good luck finding one second hand though... most are C's I expect (but dont KNOW) that this will be mirrrored accross the other manufacturors as they are all selling to the same people when you have a manufacturor in mind, it takes about 3 secs to go to their web site and look at their rig sizing charts. they all use different codes so get a little list together of what size rigs fit you from each of your fave manufacturors so you can see quickly if a second hand rig is going to fit.
