My W-13 was custom sized for me. I told them I had a PD176r and a Sabre 190. I was going to be using these for a few jumps then swapping in a 170 main when I was ready for it and a PD160r when I could find one. They built the W-13 for me from those specs so I don't think they are worried about damaging the container at those sizes. My rigger bitched about the reserve pack job, and I waited till I could find a PD160r before I asked him to install my cypres. The 190 was an insainly tight pack job... but I was well aware that was going to be the case and my packing's good enough to do it. Now with the 160r, cypres and 170 its a nice tight fit. There's even "room" to downsize at some point in the future to a 150 (years off).

They are all custom made. If you tell them what camera you are putting in it, they will build it to match its exact specification.

Isn't cigaretet smoke bad for virtually everything?

I'd bet you're fine with that. I think the shake is due to the image stabilization and gets worse the more you zoom. At 5 - 10% zoom I'd be suprised if its noticable. (caviat - don't jump camera yet, this is only book and ground experiance talking) Wait and try it out is the best conclusion ever.

True polish joke (even worse than yours): I used to live in Poland in the early 80's. One of my parent's friends was a scott with a very strong accent. One day he got into a cab and asked to go to the shopping centre (only works in a thick scott accent). The cabby duly took him as ordered to the Chopan Centre (square with a statue of Chopan in the middle) at the other end of town. (crap I know, but at least its true)

Lots of posters mention noticing lots of shake in the image when zoomed in. I've also heard that you can only zoom about 50% (still a good range) before the image starts to look fuzzy.

Yeah it generally means nothing.... but there have been instances in the past where the parade "extra" was picked and then prosecuted! Happens very rarely and generally only where they probably were a very good suspect anyway. As I said, just spair a thaught about where you were at the time when the incident took place, but otherwise don't sweat it.

I've litterally just done that. But I've jumped the 176, I currently fly a 170 main and you'd be loading it much more than me. I'm not one to give advice, but I would ask... why downsize your reserve?
-
I'd love a go - sounds like a laugh and easy money. They'll tell you what to do - its just like TV. Just stand there, turn to one side, get paid £10. Most of the time there's not even a genuine dispute over ID, they just do it to be on the safe side and already have the guy they're after. (I'd want a alibi for the time they're worried about just in case I was fingered, but thats just me).

yep - 174 square foot Thing is... are we supposed to be calculating our wing loading from that figure... or from the manufacturers "name" ?

sorry - the first bit of red text down the right hand side reads "canopy sizing chart". Click it. I didnt notice the URL doesnt change for that page though so I posted the page I surfed from.

Best Sony Handycam for potential Helmet use?
mr2mk1g replied to Designer's topic in Photography and Video
Loads of info including virtually exactly the same question asked a couple of times already this year so far. Hit search. For answers here, people are gonna want to know where you'd like to mount it, and what kinda filming your gonna do with it. -
Its gotta go up to 1500 ft before it will arm and it needs a sping loaded pilot chute to work. Thats without considering if jumpers want it firing at 750ft AGL or if there are even sufficient decent rates to cause it to fire. Maybe a special BASE cypres thats specially suited to their needs, but I doubt a stock cypres would be much use.

SkydiveUWE will take care of you if you stay at Perris. We've booked out the IHOP but the bunkhouse is available and like they said, stumbling distance from the Bombshelter.

Did anyone else get to jump this weekend? I did and faced a frozen visor, ice neadles in my eyes when I opened it to see and a nice layer of ice buildup on my arms and body whilst under canopy!!
-
Tip: If you nick your nutsack it really hurts !
-
No problem, just that's 56% of the UK population in the "other" catagory. I figured it might work better as a catagory of its own.

I think the sleapinrain one is GWI as I've seen it before a few years back. Good photo none the less.

Could you amend the poll to include "Atheist"?
-
I jumped today... visor on my full face froze up solid so I opened it under canopy only to be greated by ice neadles in my eyes. Then as I flew over the DZ I notice my arms and body all had a thin coating of ice. Some damn freakin hobo stole my winter gloves too when my car was broken into.

im in the UK - what do i need to have to jump in the US?
mr2mk1g replied to Newbie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've come to the conclusion that what you'll be asked to do depends more on what the DZ "thinks" the rules are than what the rules actually say. Stricktly speaking though, if either your reserve or container is TSO'ed then you have to abide by ALL the US repack rules. If neither are then its whatever goes for your home system. -
c'mon children - play nice

Basic Safty Requirements state: G. Minimum opening altitudes Minimum container opening altitudes above the ground for skydivers are: 1. Tandem jumps--4,500 feet AGL 2. All students and A-license holders--3,000 feet AGL 3. B-license holders--2,500 feet AGL 4. C- and D-license holders--2,000 feet AGL Thats the rules on minimum... whats sensible is another issue.

As they're asking about pulling the rip chord I guessing they're either a student or only ever spoke to a student. 5,500 sounds about right for students. But your right, its waaaaay off the mark for exp jumpers.
