The fettering of discression through the implication of a "zero tolerance" policy is an anathema to legal doctorine the world over.

hmm... let's see... I have a straight choice between owning a cypres and having a 30 day ban... and death... now which do I choose.... If anyone choses death there I make no applogies when saing they do not belong in this sport. When chosing "death" you are assuming you are going to have a cypres fire... and no one actually assumes that. So no one is going to be put off from buying a cypres simply because of this rule.

And my home DZ doesn't have trampolines everywhere - get over it. You signed up for a dangerous job and you knew it at the time. You can't now bitch that your job includes dangers. That was the point! Of course it's fucking not you moron - that's why it's called "hostile territory". Christ - if ever there was a reason why someone remains a private. No they're not - you're in the fucking army - you signed a CONTRACT that said they're allowed to do that. I don't fucking care what shit storm they told you to go into - you're a grunt and that's what you signed up to do. You go where they tell you, body armour or not. If there are policital questions to be put by all means, make the public aware of those doubts and the public will pursue a policial or at least logistical solution... Yes, we should pay for our troops to have body armour where possible, lives are worth more than metal... but you are not imbued with the authority to question your orders. You do NOT vote with your feet in the military! A soldier does what they are ordered to do. They do not question their orders, they do what they are told regardless of the risk to themselves. That is their job. That is the single thing they signed up to do. That is what they are paid (well) for. "Ours is not to reason why but to do or die."

If risers break they break on opening rather than during ordinary flight (generalisation accepted). In a way I'd prefer mine to break than transfer the load lower down my rig. See, I jump with a spare set of risers with me all the time which I can swap out simply by pulling a handle or two... I only ever carry one set of MLW's and leg straps - if on of those broke I'd be propper screwed.

is this a "theory" question re top vs. side mount or a more specific question on the actual helmets mentioned? p.s. - 2k also do a top mount called the Azimuth which is pretty much the equivelant of the Bonehead flat top series but I don't know enough about either to comment on comparisons between the two.

Pack volume Question (sabre2, safire2, spectre)
mr2mk1g replied to RyanofOZ's topic in Gear and Rigging
In all honesty, you really will be able to fit it in there. If you were shown a couple of tricks on how to pack small you would probably even be able to fit something as big as a 240 in there. Containers will generally (I mean generally) take one size bigger and one size smaller than they were built for. If it's built for a 210 you could even put something slightly larger in there... with a struggle... and it probably wouldn't be a great idea for the kit long term... but it would go. As for something the same "size" but with more cells... yes it will pack bigger... but the difference is far less than that between two different sizes. Bottom line is - if the manual says your container will take a pilot 210 - don't sweat it, it will take pretty much any 9 cell 210 canopy. *some designs may not fit - specifically student, CRW or accuracy mains which sometimes hve much greater pack volumes than their size would suggest* -
Perhaps I did get it then. At least I don't feel like I missed out on anything. The backpad I really was impressed with (on one level at least) was the new Odyssey backpad. That had really thick gel like padding covered in that mesh which is supposed to promote aeration and prevent sweaty backs etc. Y'know the sort of padding you get on really expensive rucksacks. Only misgiving I had with that though was the fact that I really couldn't see it lasting more than a couple of hundred jumps unless you took especially good care of it (literally - no hyperbole). By comparison to cordura it is frightfully fragile... especially considering it's in contact with the ground each and every time you pack. He he - on the bright side, at least you'll have your replacement container in time for when your first one wears out... so long as you order it as soon as you receive the first one that is. Just kidding - no one has to "big up" Javelin's - they're the market leader and will be for a long time.

Sometimes I seriously wonder if I actually got a quilted back pad or not. I ordered and paid for it, but have no idea if what I got is what they describe. I can't tell the difference betwen my back pad and those of any other rig out there without such an option. The only difference is I have diamond stiching as you'd expect with a quilt, but there's no padding. I just went and felt the rig - I can feel the reserve risers, cypres, main canopy; all sorts of lumps and bumps - it really feels just like any other rig. Could anyone post a pic? I seriously have no idea if I actually ended up with the option or not. Still comfy on my back mind.

Pack volume Question (sabre2, safire2, spectre)
mr2mk1g replied to RyanofOZ's topic in Gear and Rigging
If it will take a 210 pilot it will take most 210 9 cells. If it takes a 210 spectre it'll take most 9 cell 190's. There's not that big a difference that a between these canopies that a good packing technique can't account for. -
Or use a Light .50... oh wait...

Yeah, but it's less fun if you can't bayonette them to finish off the job... and you know you're gonna have to finish em off some way if you're limited to that poxy shorter mag.

...tapped telephone conversations about "trips" to Manhattan...

Model planes actually. I hear tell he’s developing a “working” model of the Enola Gay"... anyone else and I wouldn’t worry... but when a physics professor starts developing a “working” model of the Enola Gay there just might be something to worry about.

I'm not hungry right now...

That's one of the reasons I don't buy it. All I can think of is some bird banging the neighbour when her husband walks in and the conversation goes: "oh my god, what the hell are you doing?" "oh... er... WHAT - I was asleep... where in the hell am I?" "oh that's ok darling, I belive you..."
-
I guess the other party might not be asleep and thus be a consenting partner. If a hot chick walks into your room in the middle of the night and proceeds to shag you I doubt there are many who would not "consent".

That is a real case. He was dreaming of being attacked by zombies as he had just been watching zombie B-movie. Girlfriend defended him and didn’t want charges brought. Hospital called police fearing domestic violence. At trial due to legal quirks he had to run an insanity plea and ended up in a mental institute at Her Majesties pleasure where the shrinks sent him home within the week because he wasn’t the slightest bit insane. Not at all sure what it has to do with randy cheating partners wandering down the road in the middle of the night to shagg a neighbour then passing it off as sleep walking.

Sounds a bit over the top. Calling the FBI and all... bomb dogs? Can't a man have a rant anymore?

None of the above. I'd moon him as he floated by. Then I'd spend the rest of my days impressing the regulars at the Bar with my story of how I one day simultaneously mooned the most powerful man on earth as he drowned AND gave up on the opportunity to take a career making photograph that would set me up financially for life.

You only truly KNOW the wrath of a woman when you text her and call her "sweaty" when you mant to say "sweety".

A good friend was sold such a horror for his first rig. It had a square reserve in a rig built for a round reserve. The "rigger" had not seen fit to install longer reserve risers. My friend merrily turns up and the other DZ we frequented (only 5 minutes down the road) and had his kit checked out for the tag each DZ supplies. The riggers at this DZ at first broke down in fits of laughter before proceeding to explain to my friend why he should never to jump the rig and how he was most certainly never going to jump it at their DZ. A pantomime ensued of trying to fly a reserve whilst being suffocated by the reserve slider. He was advised to take the rig back and did so, exchanging it for something almost as heinous but at least airworthy - a "Jaguar" container with "Kelly Tyres" written across the back. Funny thing is that a few years later the rigger remembers that event and cites it along with other examples of negligence by the first "rigger". He maintains a good degree of anger towards that other "rigger" for their continual flouting of regulations and serious rigging errors he’s always having to fix.

Pope getting a ride in his popemobile - says to driver "I've never driven a car before, I'd like to have a go". Driver replies "Of course your grace, I shall pull over now and you can drive". He pulls over, they switch places and the Pope drives off at speed down the motorway. Two police officers are sat in thier car when the popemobile whizzes by at about 100mph. They set off in pursuit and proceed to pull the speeding vehicle over. One of the police officers gets out of the car and goes to speak to the driver. After a very brief moment, he comes back to the police car and the popemobile drives off. "Why did you let them go?" asks the second police officer, "we had him on camera doing 112 mph". "too important" replys the first officer, flustered. "who was it then?" Asks the second "dunno - but they must have been important - they had the bloody pope driving for them!"

No, no. I’m not saying they are the same religion at all, simply that there is the same central deity common to both. Other details differ to the point that they are vastly different religions as a whole. We agree that at some point in history both religions worshiped the same being. Now has that being changed at all? Is “God” still “God”? Has He been changed by the fact that some people paint him one colour, and others paint him another? Let’s just assume for a moment that God is still the same being as He was thousands of years ago. We then have one group of people who worship him correctly, and correctly revere the true profits and emanations of that one God; and another group of people who are incorrect in the path they have taken, following false profits and so forth. Do these erroneous beliefs of mere men alter who God is? Is He not above the influence of man? Surely the simple belief of some men cannot have any effect on God himself. They are just incorrect beliefs – God does not actually change in line with those miss held beliefs – He is God. Beyond influence. If both religions once worshiped the one deity, they must still do so as the deity has not changed. It is merely that one or the other religions is wrong in its perception. The fact that one group is wrong about relatively minor details about the ship as a whole whilst others are correct does not detract from the fact that it’s still the same bloke at the helm in both versions. As to your quotes - go back to the Old Testament and pull some quotes of God’s brutality at its greatest. He’s the same God in both books.

To be fair - that is actually how contract works. It is not how treaties work though. Treaties don't use the same set of rules as contracts, they're different legal concepts - a true case of compairing apples and oranges. Perhaps the easiest way of comparing the two would be to think of te treaty as a contract between country A and the treaty itself. The treaty can't break it's bargain - it's just a piece of paper. Even if another signatory to the treaty breaks their obligations that has no effect on you - you're still bound by your obligations to the treaty. IE you don't owe obligations to other nations, but to the treaty. Think of it as A sells B his car. C steals B's money. B till owes A for the car - the theft of B's money has no effect on his contract with A.

Anyone got some tips on a good way to host some files. Something like a free FTP server somewhere? I'm sick of having to get a mate to host the odd file for me. Nothing big, just a couple of little edits and some pics or something. Anyone know of a nice little service out there?
