  1. There are only 2 kinds of sex, some and none. I like the first one better. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  2. You don't have to work for the UN to know enough to keep your hands off another jumpers rig. There is never justification pull reserve, never. In my opinion if it happened the one doing the pulling should be the one to go away. I kinda agree but there have been cases its been real tempting. So how do you feel about a DZ that has a sign up that says "No Hook Turns or XXX will own your silver handle". I've seen it at a DZ. I haven't been there in a few years so I don't know if it is still there and I never saw XXX pull anyone's handle. Judy Read my response above, never, never. Who ever XXX is, he is wrong. Thats like saying no U turns. If someone does a U turn you cut his tires. Sparky And I agree with you, there have been times when it was very tempting. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  3. Go back to the way you used to do it. If someone gives you the "you have less jumps than me and i know what im doing" look, blow them a kiss. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  5. I would say that is a "high school" way to handle the situation. Pulling someones reserve is not a smart thing to do. Do you think that would help the situation or just make a bigger problem? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  7. As JP said, the jumper fucked up by not checking his gear on the ground. He is the one jumping it, it is his ass. (does the packer make a habit of making packing errors?) Now as to who threw the first punch. If the jumper threw the first punch, he should be outa there for 30 days or so. If the packer threw the first punch, no packing for 30 days or so. There are better ways to settle things now that they are out of high school. The third party that broke it up should get a free jump. jmo. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  12. I do 20 to 25 demos a year. There is no demo that requires a pull below 2000 feet. You are the kind of skydiver they make body bags for. If you did not want an honest answer, don't ask the question. At 1600 feet you have less then 9 sec. to impact. That gives you maybe 6 or 7 sec. of working time. If you have a problem, you to the math. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  13. Hey Bro, Get rid of the neptune and get a pro-trac. You threw your PC around 3100/3200 and were in the saddle by 2600. It was not a snivel but a asymmetrical opening, the right side opened and then the left. Things seem to happen fast at the altitude at first but you will adjust as you get more time in the air. Nice 5 way. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  14. Hehe! I have also found a conventional rig with capewells and a competition PC in it and a front mount 24 foot "swinger" reserve. The main doesn't scare me...but the thought of using those capewells and that reserve sure as hell does! I was going to jump the full conventional setup but have decided that I would prefer to pack the pc into a d-bag in a student rig so that I have a 3-ring cutaway and a square reserve. I've realized my nostalgia only extends to old mains and not the rigs themselves. Spend some time in a hanging harness with the capewells. They work just fine. If you need to go to the 24' ask someone to show you how to take a hook knife and make a "4 line release" out of it and the swing will go away. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  16. Part 105 dose not mention anything about structural: "(2) Within 60 days before the date of its use, if it is composed of any amount of silk, pongee, or other natural fiber, or material not specified in paragraph (b)(1) of this section. " My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  17. As Bigway asked, what type of A/C was it. There are operating limits on A/C when operating with the door off, this means less performance. And you are right about an accidental deployment near the door. Did you approach the DZO or DZ Manager about the attitude of the the Staff member. You can't very well blame the DZ if they are unaware of the problem. jmo Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  20. Is it real leather or a good copy? Do you know how often every rig you have seen is repacked? The FAA says in 105.43..... 1) Within 120 days before the date of its use, if its canopy, shroud, and harness are composed exclusively of nylon, rayon, or similar synthetic fiber or material that is substantially resistant to damage from mold, mildew, and other fungi, and other rotting agents propagated in a moist environment; or (2) Within 60 days before the date of its use, if it is composed of any amount of silk, pongee, or other natural fiber, or material not specified in paragraph (b)(1) of this section. And no, I don't know what pongee is. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  21. The FAA could care less if you die skydiving. Their main concern is that you do not damage property or cause death/injury to people on the surface. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  22. I don't think it is just momentum. I think an all ZP reserve would have problems with these required tests. 4.3.3.1 Precondition for 16 h at not less than +200 °F (93.3 °C), stabilize to ambient and test drop. 4.3.3.2 Precondition for 16 h at not greater than -40 °F (-40 °C), stabilize to ambient and test drop. 4.3.3.3 Precondition for not less than 400 continuous hours with a 200 lbf (889.6 N) or greater load applied to compress the pack in a manner similar to that most likely to be encountered in actual use. Test drop within 1 h after removing the load. (source AS8015-B) Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  23. The re-pack cycle still is 60 days for a rig that has and portion of it made out of natural fiber/fabric. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  24. F-111 is a trademark name for material made by Bill Harris. It has not been made for many years. What is used today is a lopo material with a CFM of 0-3 cfm similar to F-111. ZP is stronger than lopo in a pull test but in a high speed deployment it will fail quicker. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
