Cost of freebag (Tell me this is a joke!!!)
mjosparky replied to goose491's topic in Gear and Rigging
I read the original post. Before contacting Sunrise you posted on the internet that the bill was $863.71. That is what people will remember. A retraction 5 days latter in my opinion should start out with an apology for "jumping their shit" before you had the facts. jmo My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -

Flying a flag , while under canopy....??????
mjosparky replied to flr169's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I jump flags on a regular basis, 6' x10' up to 20' x 30' and I would say Mr. Quade has the right idea. You will be able to get you point across, you won't have to make a banner and your friends will think you are cool. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
USPA BOD has voted to award the "Lifetime Achievement" award to Al Krueger, aka Capt. Hook. It would be hard to find a more deserving recipient. Congratulations Al. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

The rule reads: § 105.43 Use of single-harness, dual-parachute systems. No person may conduct a parachute operation using a single-harness, dual-parachute system, and no pilot in command of an aircraft may allow any person to conduct a parachute operation from that aircraft using a single-harness, dual-parachute system, unless that system has at least one main parachute, one approved reserve parachute, and one approved single person harness and container that are packed as follows: § 105.45 Use of tandem parachute systems. (a) No person may conduct a parachute operation using a tandem parachute system, and no pilot in command of an aircraft may allow any person to conduct a parachute operation from that aircraft using a tandem parachute system, unless—(1) One of the parachutists using the tandem parachute system is the parachutist in command, and meets the following requirements:(i) Has a minimum of 3 years of experience in parachuting, and must provide documentation that the parachutist—(ii) Has completed a minimum of 500 freefall parachute jumps using a ram-air parachute, and§ 105.45 Use of tandem parachute systems. (a) No person may conduct a parachute operation using a tandem parachute system, and no pilot in command of an aircraft may allow any person to conduct a parachute operation from that aircraft using a tandem parachute system, unless—(1) One of the parachutists using the tandem parachute system is the parachutist in command, and meets the following requirements:(i) Has a minimum of 3 years of experience in parachuting, and must provide documentation that the parachutist—(ii) Has completed a minimum of 500 freefall parachute jumps using a ram-air parachute, and...... No where does it say anything about one person, single harness........ or two people, dual harness..... In any case, when they left the aircraft they were both wearing a legal rig. And no where does it say a jumper wearing a single harness, dual parachute system or a dual harness, dual parachute system must deploy either one. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Tandems are now covered under Part 105. If both jumpers left the plane with a legal single harness dual parachute system on they should be legal. Now where in the FAR's can I remember it saying you had to open either one of the canopies. jmo Sparky PS: a real dumb thing to do. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

A PA-32 is a Piper Lance or Cherokee Six. I have made some jumps out of them but I have never heard of a DZ using one on a regular basis. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Bill, I always keep a roll of Type IIA around for pull cords. Much easier to get through an "O" grommet. Also makes good lanyard for smoke. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Steve, I am glad to hear it went well for you. Demos are some of the highest adrenaline jumps going. My comment on "what does it pay" was to remind you not to make a habit of doing demos for free. Your time and skill are worth compensation. Some day sit down and figure what you sent on gear and jumps to be able to pull that off safely. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Calculating Altitude AGL From Pressure
mjosparky replied to fred's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You need to know the altitude first and then get the pressure. When you are flying and reset your altimeter the ground station you call knows their altitude, msl and then they give you a pressure reading and you set your altimeter to that. Pressure is always changing, a know altitude is not. And Pro-track does give temp. in the Jump-track software. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -

Are you a "goal oriented" skydiver?
mjosparky replied to skybytch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My goals in skydiving are to find the right plane, get out of the right door, at the right time and remember to pull. But the big one is to enjoy the friendships I have made and will make in skydiving. Skydiving is recreation and I wish to keep it that way. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
