  7. I can not only say it, I'll go you one better, I know what it means. I have tested PC many times in the last 20 years, usually from the bed of a truck using a strain gauge. Not once have I broke my arm. But then again, I am just dumb rigger. Like I said "Who would be dumb enough to hang on to the PC until their arm broke? Think about it. 8. Karen, you must just be a weeeeeny! It was 103 F (39.444C) at Cal. City today while I was jumping. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  9. One of the problems as I see Mike, is that fewer and fewer jumper know enough about their gear to inspect it. Sure, they can look it over but do they know what to look for? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  10. M-18's only come in colors, Red, Violet, green, yellow and white. White is white phosphorus, stay away from it. Green blows out of both ends and is real messy. If you locate any, be prepared to pay $35 to $45 per can. As Rob said, the Para Gear "Skydiver" smoke is a better bet. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. You got any more of that shit you want to seel? It must be killer stuff. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  12. Yeah DON'T do this people have had their arms broken trying this from a moving vehicle Who would be dumb enough to hang on to the PC until their arm broke? Think about it. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  13. Do you have a source for this statement or is it work of mouth? (rumor) I can say there are reports of the sky falling, that does not make it true. Most riggers I know do not rig under these conditions, myself included. I have a sports rig check sheet and I use it every time all the time. I am not folding someones laundry, I am packing a reserve parachute. With all their human frailties, I feel safe in saying that most of them do their job far better then you do yours. jmo Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  14. For everyone who has ever had an evaluation - just remember, it could have been worse. These are actual quotes taken from Federal Government employee performance evaluations: 1. "Since my last report, this employee has reached rock-bottom and has started to dig." 2. "I would not allow this employee to breed." 3. "This employee is really not so much of a has-been, but more of a definite won't be." 4. "Works well when under constant supervision and cornered like a rat in a trap." 5. "When she opens her mouth, it seems that it is only to change feet." 6. "This young lady has delusions of adequacy." 7. "He sets low personal standards and then consistently fails to achieve them." 8. "This employee is depriving a village somewhere of an idiot." 9. "This employee should go far, and the sooner he starts, the better." 10. "Got a full 6-pack, but lacks the plastic thingy to hold it all together." 11. "A gross ignoramus -- 144 times worse than an ordinary ignoramus." 12. "He doesn't have ulcers, but he's a carrier." 14. "I would like to go hunting with him sometime." 15. "He's been working with glue too much." 16. "He would argue with a signpost." 17. "He brings a lot of joy whenever he leaves the room." 18. "When his IQ reaches 50, he should sell." 19. "If you see two people talking and one looks bored, he's the other one." 20. "A photographic memory but with the lens cover glued on." 21. "A prime candidate for natural de-selection." 22. "Donated his brain to science before he was done using it." 23. "Gates are down, the lights are flashing, but the train isn't coming." 24. "He's got two brains cells, one is lost and the other is out looking for it." 25. "If he were any more stupid, he'd have to be watered twice a week." 26. "If you give him a penny for his thoughts, you'd get change." 27. "If you stand close enough to him, you can hear the ocean." 28. "It's hard to believe he beat out 1,000,000 other sperm." 29. "One neuron short of a synapse." 30. "Some drink from the fountain of knowledge; he only gargled." 31. "Takes him 2 hours to watch '60-minutes'." 32. "The wheel is turning, but the hamster is dead" My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  16. As big as that kid is, he needs to get into heavies as soon a possible. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  17. I don't think I am superstitious, I believe good luck come from being prepared. In reference to wearing any jewerly when jumping, Al Frisby once told me, "If you can imagine it, it can happen." Wearing any type of jewelry is not being prepared. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  18. Robin, There are not that many riggers in the US that make their living from rigging. Most riggers rig part time and got their ticket because they wanted to learn what was going on with the gear on their back. Extending the repack cycle should not be determined by cost or if a rigger will be able to buy shoes for the baby. It should be done on its merits only. The question, is a reserve repacked every six months going to maintain the same safety margin as one packed every four months, needs to be answered. Anything else is beside the point. PS: I am a rigger. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  19. Why not go to an instructor and ask them to run you through EP for the different problems. With 200 or less jumps do you think you should be posting advise on how to handle a PC in tow? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  20. yeahthat's why molar straps have been found in place on next repack SOP doesn't mean it acutally happens You know this for a fact, or are you just repeating what you have heard? Sounds to me like its time for you to get off you ass and pack your own reserve. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  21. The way I did it was to take $2500 out of the credit union,(it was a long time ago) and give it to to the FBO I was training with. That way they had my money and it gave me the incentive to fly every day. Had my license in 6 weeks. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  22. Errors do occur, but not in parachute packing. It is not the same as tuning up a car or painting a house. You may not "expect something as good as a reserve" but the FAA does and says so in writing. If a person is going to seek the position of "packer", they must understand the importance of what they are doing and be willing to accept the responsibility of doing it right. Packers can make $30 an hour or more, with very little training and only a pull cord for equipment. Thats not bad money. But with it comes the awesome burden of near perfection. Their screw up could be the first link in a chain of events that leads to a fatality. Its the attention to detail that will make them or break them.(or someone else) Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  23. Forget about wimpy rechargable D cells. They don't last nearly long enough. What you need is a Die Hard and a set of jumper cables! Get one with an 88 engine and a kick starter. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  24. Its called what comes around, goes around. A bit of class by all involved. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  25. reply]Oh and Plueeese! You sell them, you have a vested interest in keeping the name in good condition. I actually had one of those peices of crap on my back for a few hundred jumps before I could afford something better for my life. You need to get you facts straight before you put your foot in your mouth. The Tempo reserve in no longer made, so how could JP be selling them? What kind of 1st hand knowledge do you have about Tempo's or are you just running you mouth. I have 5 rides on 2 different Tempo reserves and no problems.
