  1. And you have not backed up your claim that it is not dangerous. The FAA has determined that what he "thinks" counts and what you think doesn't. At least in this case. So now, what is your point. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  2. Source: Sport Flight, Inc. They appear to go up because you are singing at a faster rate, particularly when doing CReW. All disturbance activity in the air move down wind. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  3. You can go back and forth with "he said this and he said that". Nothing is going to change. To say that a rigger that does not agree with your appraisal of the gear in question is "not qualified" is pretty harsh. Since none of us has had the opportunity to see the gear it could very well be in great shape or a piece of shit. All we have to go on is your opinion. And the fact is that when it comes to "evaluating the airworthiness of a piece of equipment" the FAA says your opinion does not count. So when all the bickering is done, the airworthiness of the gear in question is a decision that will be made by a rigger. You don't have to like it or agree with it. Thats just the way it is. Sparky PS: The gear was manufactured 5 years before you made your first jump. Do you know how it was cared for during that 5 year period? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  4. When it is time to go to your reserve you are no longer sport parachuting. You are trying to save your life. There are no points awarded for style, only for survival. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  5. The turbulence for another canopy will be below that canopy and down wind of it. Unless you were lower and down wind, I doubt if the other canopy caused the problem. jmo Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  6. Where in the FAR's did you find this? I can't find anything in Part 105, Part 65 or any other part that addresses jumping a reserve makes it anything other then a jumped reserve. I believe it the rigger that makes the decision on what is airworthy or not. I thing Precision says something like that in their manual. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. I think you can say they act like a Troll but you can't say they are a Troll. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  10. Next time you are in the area, let me know. I will look it over. If it is still airworthy, in my opinion, I will put a couple of test jumps on it to see if I was right. It's been awhile since I have seen a "frap strap". PM me with the .commer you had in mind. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. What was your altitude compared to the other canopy? Higher, lower on level? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  12. It might be for the same reason you don't jump gear that was made when you were in diapers. Design and materials improve, the world moves on, you either move with it or get left behind. If you feel the gear is airworthy, take the time and get your riggers ticket and sign it off yourself. Problem solved. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  13. I would say if you weigh more than 220 lb. out the door, you are overloading your reserve. You are right, many jumpers are loading their reserve over the manufactures max recommendation but that does not make it the smart thing to do. Moving up to a larger reserve would be good. 14. Ron may be a "smart ass" but he knows his shit and is willing to pass on what he has learned to those who are willing to listen. Don't let his hard ass front get to you. He is just a marshmallow looking for a stick. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  15. Thats where the helmet was purchased. It was a gift and it has all the whistles and bells. When the boss likes you you get neat toys. I wear glasses and the slide visor on the HGU-33 works well with them and fits tight against the O2 mask when needed. Their place is just down the road from our shop. Well just 80 or 90 miles. 16. rangersergant - Sparky means it would be helpful for both yourself and us if you completed your profile. It gives us an idea of who we are talking to, helps us believe that you are a legitimate forum participants (there are some phonies here), and helps lend you some credibility here in the forums no matter what your experience level is. 18. Almost all reserves are F-111 type material. (lo-po) I believe one company had a hybrid, ZP top skin, out at one time. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  25. I believe it is a carry over from the days of D-18's and DC-3's. There were no floater handles back in the Jurassic Period of skydiving and when "cut" was called the pilot would reduce the power and pitch to the left engine. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
