At my age, technology sucks. I am doing good to turn the radio on. Thanks again, Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
Type 8 risers are made for Type VIII webbing. It is 1 23/32 in. wide, has a black tracer line down the middle and is rated at 4,000 pounds. Type 17 risers are made from Type 17 webbing. It is 1 inch wide and is rated at 2,500 pounds. The "type" comes from the old MIL-Spec classifications. http://www.ballyribbon.com/popmil.htm Hope this helps. If you want the best information about dive (scuba) computers, you would go to rec.scuba. There you would find that the tech units from Cochrane eat batteries for breakfast, and turn off during dives a lot, can talk to one of the witnesses in the class action against Uwatec for a known faulty algorithm, or find out Suunto is aggressively conservative in measuring oxygen toxicity concerns. Or that Pelgagic makes all of the units for a number of brand names, including Oceanic, Aeris, and Genesis. Decompression theory is still very young in development and manufacturers tend to err greatly on the side of caution since people can get bent even on profiles within the known limits. So they program in lots of fudge factors and write in the manual - "not to be used for decompression diving," even though all diving is and the unit will recommend mandatory deco stops if needed. As we have seen, Suunto's manual for the Vector clearly states it shouldn't be used for skydiving either. So yeah, public forums have more experts, and ones without a stake in the answer. One should always look for contradictory opinions to a single claim, be it from the manufacturer or your single local master rigger/diver/whatever. Public forums also have more wrong answers, but they rarely go unchallenged. I am not sure what your point is. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Firefighters don't ask stupid questions. Remember, "there are no experts in this sport. All the experts are dead." Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

John is right. When you have made the decision that you can not land your main, for what ever reason or altitude, you are no longer sports parachuting. You are trying to save your life. Remember if you hit 1000 feet at terminal, you have 5 seconds to live. But then 2 of those seconds don't count because then it is to late for anything to work. Think about it, 1000 feet, 120 mph, 3 sec. to live. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Wrong answer, I assure you riggers do not get their information on dz.com. and more then you got the information on how to fly from a public forum that chats about "how to". Do you feel qualified to determine when a rigger is wrong? I think you might be over estimating your knowledge in the field of aerodynamic decelerators. Not quite by a long shot. There is a large opinion factor in this sport, but there is a tremendous amount of proven knowledge. The simple fact that you are not aware of it does not mean it is not there. All you have to do is spend the time and effort to find it, thats what FAA certified riggers have done. Judging from recent history I would say can be a very important feature. Just a few months ago there were 3 saves by a ballistic recovery system on the Cirrus. One in Canada and 2 in Florida. All on the same weekend. And that is not opinion, it is fact. I got these facts from the manufacture. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Bob, Thank you for the information. You would not believe how long I have tried to find it. But leave it to Natick to re-invent the stow band. Where did you find it? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
People have thought about it. One this is the split slider. See attached picture. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

My guess would be "not many" If you want an even number of line(groups) you tend to end up with an od number of cells...

Do you really believe it is better to seek information about your gear on a public forum then it is to contact the manufacture or a trusted rigger in your area? Is that the same route you take when you have a question about an A/C you are flying? Forget the A/P or the manufacture, got to the net. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

So did your shoe, rught? Here is the one at the March ARB museum near Perris, CA. The outer pod is Aux. Fuel, the C-123 did not store fuel in the wings (just like a Twin Otter) to reduce the chance of fire from a forced landing, and AA fire. The next pod inboard on the wing is one of the Aux Jets with it's cover in the closed position. JP, There is not fuel in the wings because they were designed as a glider in the late 40's. Got to jump that last year on my B day in Kingman. We dropped 6000#'s with a 220sq'. Flew fast, then of course 2 G12's (I think 12's) landed it safely. Oh except the load that went in because the static line was hooked up wrong. What a mess. We put in a 5,000 CTV when the system we were testing failed. (thats why they call it testing Martha) The nose of the vehicle was 23' below grade at Red lake dry lake bed. Took almost 2 days with a back hoe to dig it out. Which supports exactly what I'm saying. How do I know that Manufacturer X doesn't feel the same way, when in reality the only reason they don't offer rigs with collins lanyards is that they can't. They aren't going to advertise (for the most part) that a collins lanyard is an essential part of a proper RSL system. I'd rather hear YOUR opinion on a matter like that. RWS, who happens to sell rigs with the collins lanyard, says (according to what you said) that it is essential. Infinity says that since risers almost never break it really doesn't make any difference. Both have a stake in their argument. I'm not saying either one is lying... I'm just saying that a manufacturer may not be the best place to ask for advice on this sort of thing. Dave >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Your argument makes as much sense the People's Front for the Liberation of Judea's manifesto that a man has the right to have a baby! Bawaaawhawaw!
