  1. Nick, good point. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  2. Phree, One more thing to include in you summary. After each load, everyone on the load needs to check in with manifest as soon as you land. No more jumping until every jumper on the last load is accounted for. And the whitsle is a good idea along with a small light to check your canopy after opening. You will find me working ground crew with Mar. I did 2 night jumps in November, both demos and both paid well. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  3. What he said just might be worth listening to. Skratch has been at this awhile. There is a reason some of the more mature jumpers survived all these years jumping everything from C-9 7TU to todays pocket rockets. No matter how bad the landing is, a good PLF will improve your chances of walking away. Its just simple physics, you spread the energy over more surface area and over a longer period of time. 4. Alrighty, now I'm a little puzzled. Unless I'm misreading something, you all appear to be saying the same thing. Sparky listed rule (3) and Billvon and LiveLifeGoJump have suggested there can be circumstances where rule (3) actualy applies. Why the fuss over LiveLifeGoJump's comment ? - When you are talking about pulling the reserve after a low cutaway, you are already past the right altitude and taking the time to get stable in not such a hot choice. So that leaves "PULL". Don't count, don't look for the ground, don't think about missing your mother, 'PULL". Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  7. JP, What would a tunnel rat know about closing loops? I suspect you are using 500 or at most 750 spectra. It fits through the grommet better than 1000. It would probably never hang up, but I guess why my ex thinks I am anal. If I beg, can I get free tunnel time? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  8. You don't know either, do you. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  9. AOL bad... Oh great, don't tell me that. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  10. Try Type IIA, works great. 1000 spectra is a tight fit through an "O" grommet. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. 1. Why dont you Americans make your own?
  12. You must not have read the whole thread. Changing the length of the risers or the brake setting will not change the trim. The trim is determined by the length of the lines and unless you cut the lines shorter the trim will not change. Each riser, right and left, is made of one continuous piece of webbing folded at the middle. To make shorter risers you start with a short piece of webbing, they do not cut off longer risers. As I noted in another thread, maybe you should back off on giving advise until you have a better understanding of gear and freefall techniques, ie getting stable before pulling your reserve. jmo My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  13. If you are under a spinning mal and have the altitude then a slight delay after the chop to get stable before the pull would help. If you don't have the altitude then the next stage after pulling silver is (as I was taught) ARCH (or recover, same thing) as this will help stop the body spinning as the reserve deploys reducing the risk of twists etc. One bit of advise I would give everyone is to relax & enjoy it, the more you worry the more you tense up & the more tense you are the more likely you are to cause a problem. 1. Pull 2. Pull at the right altitude 3. Pull at the right altitude while stable Maybe you should leave giving advise to the instructors. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  14. Don't forget the falling dollar is adding to the bottom line! Since they are both made in Europe, the falling dollar is a moot point. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  15. GW a skydiver? Maybe a student skydiver but imo not a skydiver. No politic's involved just the facts. imo a couple of AFF jumps doesn't make someone a skydiver. But that's just me. The goldens knights that jumped with him are the skydivers. If GW the press and anyone else wants to call him a skydiver thats OK GW Most famouse person to make a jump? In this country yes. skydiver you decide R.i.P. He has made more jumps then you have or is your profile phoney? How many jumps does it take to be a "Skydiver" 2, 5, 20 or 100? 16. Like I have said before, I am not an artist. What I mean by "short" comes off the bottom, is everything on the canopy end of the riser stays the same except the placement of the toggle on the brake. See attachment. Riser length is up to the individual. If they are too long, they might not be able to reach the slider, you can still fly and land the canopy. If they are so long you can't reach the toggles then that is another story. Of course you could fly and land using just riser inputs. Then there is container size. If they are too long they might not lay flat in the pack tray. This could cause a problem during deployment. Maybe. There are many variables to consider when ordering risers. As long as possible is not one of them. jmo Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  20. How long do you think it will be before canopies are manufactured under C23e? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  21. Did you get written permission form the manufacture before you made this change to a TSO'd part? Your quote from an earlier post. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  22. If nothing else, at least you must be current.
  23. Jumping a reserve bigger than your main was not the point I was making. What I was getting at is a reserve loaded at 1.8+ can come back and bit you in the butt. In your case, you are about 60 pounds over what the manufacture recommends for an expert canopy pilot on your reserve and 25 pounds on your main. With you experience, that is probably not a bad thing on the main, but I think 1.84 is a little high for a 7 cell reserve. Thats just my opinion and as I said, with your experience it shouldn't be a problem. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  24. Hey Tony, I remember it well. The pilot would not let float on the outside because he was worried if a pilot chute got loose it would go up into the main rotor. Da Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
