If they are built right, they take about 40 KIAS to inflate. I only know one plane that flies jump run at that speed. Also if they are built right, when and if the bungee wears out, you have a standard PC. They should not be used on smaller, high performance canopies because they can inflate and distort the top skin. This will effect the way the canopy flies. On larger, F-111 canopies they are just fine. I have been making and jumping them for well over 15 years. If someone deployed at a speed that would tear his aorta do you really think his P/C hesitated. At speeds around 100 KIAS it will inflate as fast as any pilot chute. At speeds above 150 or so almost all PC's start to loosed their effectiveness. The fine mesh is not able to pass air at that speed and it starts to collapse. Don't blame equipment for causing a fatlity that was jumper error. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

World's First 8-Stack - photos
mjosparky replied to 1st8stkOrganizr's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
My first stack, I think it was 5 or 6, we used a Paradactyl on top, Strato Star, a couple of Units and I closed last with a Strato Cloud. Like you said, "Jump what you brung was the rule of the day". Oh, and we used cell docks. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -

You are right my friend, and when I make King, all this will change.

Tort law and tort reform has been around since before you were born and will be around long after you are gone. The FAA has nothing to do with tort law. It has to do with mid level bureauerats justifying their job. Take it to Speaker Corner. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Even if the rig was a gift, it would be better to find something that is closer to the right size. jmo Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Could you explain that in more detail? I can't see how D-rings will shorten the main lift web. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You are about 210 out the door. This should put you at a good fall rate for medium sized formations. Work on increasing your ff speed range through body position and let the other guy worry about what he/she needs. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

cargo chutes for tsunami relief?

If you don't endanger people or property on the ground, you can drop anything you want. If it endangers people or property on the ground you can't even drop a WDI. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
No, I would take the team member that got poached to task. He is the one that made the commitment to your team and then backed out. Attempting to poach is just trying to improve your position. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I remember when you turned in a 7711-2, Application for Certificate of Waiver or Authorization and a few days later you received a 7711-1, Certificate of Waiver or Authorization. A single form turned in and a single form returned. I just got one back for a jump into a small airport, not even a level 2 and it consisted of the 7711-1 and 10 pages, yes 10, of Special Provisions. 66 in all. What kind of monster have we created? If you stack pack just like the manual says, it opens sweet. I have deployed one at 26,000 to 27,000 msl with out a problem. Well just one, it was cold as a well diggers ass. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Aerodyne riser cable housing slipped out!
mjosparky replied to ernokaikkonen's topic in Gear and Rigging
Bill, Great advice. The problem I see is skydivers not taking the time learn enough to inspect their gear. SCUBA divers and skydiver have a lot in common. When they run out of air they are in big trouble. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
You only put you full name up in the last 12 hours. Are you ever sly. The same web page you went to to get the information on me only has one James Ohare listed. And he does not have a riggers ticked at all. But it does list a James O'hare, you spelled your name wrong. Oh, and by the way, I know when I got my ticket. I was there. http://162.58.35.241/aadatabase/login.asp You just keep thinking Butch, thats what you are good at. No one could possibly be as smart as you are. I am done. DOOR. Sound familiar? Hey Killer, how many TSO programs have you worked on. I have been involved in 7 and have been doing rigging for over 25 years. Yes I will tell a Master rigger, one how won't identify himself, how the regs. on a TSO work. While you have been doing repacks, I have been rigging. When was the last time you were involved in any kind of a test program. My last complete test program was about 5 months ago. We tested the new water release fitting for Koch & Son that will be used on all military ejection seats. The old SeaWars worked just fine but someone decided that something smaller and stronger was probably better. And on an A/C power plant, if the manufacture says you will to a TBO in 15 hours, you will do a TBO in 15 hours. And if they put an AD out saying all power plants must come back to the factory for inspection, they will all go back to the factory. And if the factory says they are all "not air worthy", none of them will ever fly again. When the manufacture says something, that makes it true, not when some unidentified noise on the net says so. By the way, over 50 posts ago you said you were done, DOOR. Loose your way Go on back to SC. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Here is a list of all TSO-23b held by GQ. A TSO is issured to an address. They are no longer at this address and have not changed the issue. The TSO's are considered abandoned. Even if the TSO is valid, packing it would be against "manufactures recommendations". You do what you want, I just told you what my opinion was. I hope you don't use the same cavalier attitude when dealing with someone else's gear.
