I am not smart enough to lie. I can't remember what it was I said. I can always remember what the truth is, even if it hurts. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

They are pretty easy to figure out, but you might want someone, i.e. a rigger, to look over your shoulder. It is easy to get the lines mixed up. Good choice of canopies with the Silhouete. PD's best kept secret. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

*** Actually...it's an excuse! I'm hiding out in my office all week! YOU would too... 3 teenages off school for the next 3 weeks.... And Mom's in Scotland today...! Na na na na! Retired and no kids. When do I get my hat? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
Yea, right. I am thinking about making myself King. Can you feel it? Anytime there are 2 or more people in the air, flying together, it is relative work. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You just don't get it. You have averaged 30 jumps a year over 7 years and you are debating EP with people who do that a month. People who have been in the situation, sometimes more than once. People who are instructors and have trained jumpers for years. You seem to think you are the one who is going to be able to "handle it". There is a reason EP are set up like they are. People died trying other ways and the smart ones learned from it. The ones that rode in on the short bus didn't and they were the next ones to die. jmo "You can't learn if you won't listen and you can't listen if you are talking" Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I would agree with this. We have a whole generation or two who have never been held accountable for their actions since birth. Why should it change when they take up skydiving. They get caught with their hand in the cookie jar and the way they tell it they were attacked by the cookie jar and demand compensation for pain and suffering. Are they the same societies that have gone centuries with out benefit of indoor plumbing? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

*** When we do night demos we all have Protec helmets, taping a small flat flashlight to the top..much like a miners helmet allows you to have decent illumination wherever you're looking. It's easy to check the canopy, and lets you see the ground at landing time. Strobe lights; I put mine on the harness where it connects to the container, facing down...that seems to keep flash effects on eyesight to a minimum. Some guys attach them to the back of their helmet. I think one of the greatest hazards is collision at night. The easiest way to make yourself seen is to have a light shining up at the canopy. What I do is put 3-4 rubber bands on the left rear riser. When the canopy is open I slip a 2AA mini mag-lite into the bands pointing up... you can see the canopy for quite some distance. The 2nd greatest hazard (imo) is at landing. The landing area can become congested with people who's adrenalin is really pumping. Awareness needs to be the highest priority. There should also be a light of some kind on / in the windsock... and landing patters and direction briefed in detail. To light my altimeter I use a small 1 in. glow stick. I tape it to the face at the 10 o'clock position with black electrical tape. This keeps the face well illuminated and covers the part of the stick that may be a distraction. I set my audible for 2000' as an 'Oh Shit' last ditch reminder. In the case of a snivel that takes longer to clear than realized. Or if still in free fall...straight to #2. I have over 150 night demos and probably half again that in night 'fun' jumps. A night jump is NOT an ordinary skydive... You need to prepare both yourself and your equipment well before hand. They're always fun...just don't do nothin' stupid! Damn, he's long winded. But he has posted some very good information that he has used over the years on demos and can for sure be used on fun night jumps. And this bears repeating.......just don't do nothin' stupid! 1000 pound dacron is about 3/8 of an inch thick.
-
Man I hope it was spectra, I would hate to think there is someone out there using 1000 lb. dacron for a closing loop. You would need a #2 grommet. You know, it might be anal paranoia! I am looking forward to alzheimer's, I think it is going to be fun. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Wayne, Here is Brian Germain's recommended Wing loading chart. I know that is not what you asked for but give it a look see. You are a little over the recommended with you present canopy and the next size down is a 135 I believe. That would put you at 1.4 with under 200 jumps. It doesn't sound like much but it is one large step. Not a flame, just something to consider. Sparky Wingloading / Number of Jumps 1.0 / -

While impressive in it's own rite, it's not the same thing. Billy mentioned leaving one plane and climbing into another one. On a side note, I used to have footage of two guys leaving biplanes flying accross and switching. Anyone know who that was? -Josh The footage you used to have was kevin Donley and Jim Wallace. It was going to be Donley and Jerry Meyers, but Jerry twisted an ankle on the first attempt. It was first done by Kevin Donley for The Great Waldo Pepper movie. I think it was that movie, but it was Kevin who was the first. Dar Robinson also did shortly after that. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

How did we get from "I heard" to: "rigger at Perris is actually getting paid less" I have heard that the riggers at Adventure Loft get the full $75 and the drop zone kicks in another 10. I heard but I don't think so. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
