I never said you were...However, I don't see how knowing that the age group is 26-35 and male helps with making a better training program. Everyone would benefit by more knowledge. And thats why I always had a test out for those who could prove it. I agree with Ron. If you have less then 250 jumps and screw your 1.6/1 canopy into the ground, you sex or age mean nothing. Your lack of knowledge and experience does. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

strange/different jump aircraft?
mjosparky replied to yarpos's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
No it was at Cable airport in Upland, CA. When I jumped the Blanik sailplane it was towed to altitude by the Wilga. When the Blanik cut loose the Wilga came back around and we did a formation load, 3 in the Wilga and me in the Blanik. The Air Show crowd loved it. I remember Larry Yohn telling me he'd put his Paradactyl on just two risers instead of 4 to save the weight of the other 2 risers. Why not just pee before jumping? Wendy W. Wendy, Larry's rig had a Paradactyl as both main and reserve. And both canopies were on just 2 risers. If you broke one line on a dactyl it was a bad canopy. Go figure. Katie, I thing your assessment is correct even if my original numbers were not. But there continues to be resistance to any form of W/L restriction. Go figure. Sparky Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Let me double check, shouldn't work with numbers when I am that tired. I will get back to you. Sparky I failed to notice that the search query defaults included "unknowns" in both jump number and age. Thank you for catching it. Corrected numbers. Out of 112 fatalities. Fewer than 500 jumps 17 yrs. – 25 yrs. = 11 or 12% 26 yrs. – 30 yrs. = 16 or 14% 31 yrs. – 35 yrs. = 5 or 4% 36 yrs. – 40 yrs. = 6 or 5% 41 yrs. – 45 yrs. = 9 or 8% 46 yrs. – 50 yrs. = 3 or 2% 50 yrs. – 99 yrs. = 6 or 5% Total – 56 or 50% Fewer than 250 jumps 17 yrs. – 25 yrs. = 9 or 8% 26 yrs. – 30 yrs. = 10 or 9% 31 yrs. – 35 yrs. = 2 or 1% 36 yrs. – 40 yrs. = 5 or 4% 41 yrs. – 45 yrs. = 6 or 5% 46 yrs. – 50 yrs. = 2 or 1% 50 yrs. – 99 yrs. = 5 or 4% Total – 39 or 35% Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

It is cleaner and when you do release the brakes there is less chance that the brake line will "foul" on itself. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

A Polish Wilga and a Blanik sailplane. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
What this shows is that since 12/14/1995, 112 people died under good canopies in the US. That statistic supports one thing, that is way to many people dead. Now pull a "metric" out of that and support any damn thing you want. 112 PEOPLE DEAD UNDER A GOOD CANOPY. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Breezy, I use Type IIA, even less wear on the loop. Printed Type III tape pull-up cords are for prima donnas. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Not dead by a long shot. If you are at work, get to work. If I make it up to Cal. City in the next couple of weeks, you jump with this old "dead" man. (check center fold of Dec. Parachutist) Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
Did you ever put a piece of plywood on your rig and park your car on it overnight? That would allow you to get one more between the door and the fusalage in 10 way lineup. Sparky HAHAHAHAHAHA!! Damn, I forgot about that one. I know folks that would cut the manufacturers tags out of underwear, t shirts, shoes, frap hats, etc. trying anything to make themselve lighter. Anything for an advantage. First rule of "10 way", If you ain't cheat'n, you ain't try'n. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

10 way out of a D-18 or even a DC-3 with "Rumble Seat" rules was never boring. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

At 25 jumps, you haven't done shit and never get to the point where you think you are perfect. No one in this sport is as good as they think they are and it is just a matter of time until they prove it. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

And how many DZ's have you been to? It that fact or just what you think? I seem to remember a call for hard data. Guessing doesn't count. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

The old rules were better. Single file exit, no show, no grips on exit, first 2 out were base pin. Time stopped when last jumper broke grips. One point for ever jumper in to break ties. And NO PROTESTS. And if you ain't cheat'n you ain't try'n! Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

We may not have been trained properly. Covering your cape-wells makes sense, but noone ever told us that at my drop zone. I only had two malfunctions back then. Both times I was pretty unstable. I had my feet and knees together in an inverted position, and then pulled the loops on my capewells. I had my elbows in tight to my side when I pulled my reserve (similiar to a military inverted paratrooper position). Both times, I went over on my side when my reserve strung out. Both times the reserve openned okay, but again my body position was far from ideal.....The new gear is sure a whole lot better!....Steve1 I was taught with a total to look, pull, punch. You kept you left arm out and this caused you to go to your back for deployment. And damn that hurts. A 24' flat is biased constructed with continuous lines. I have seen them take 450 pounds at 135 knots. They are tough. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Both Dacron and Microline can try fitting in #8 brass grommets OR #25 stainless steel grommets. BTW, #8 brass grommets are 2 mm wider when it comes to inside diameter (at least the ones PD is using), so maybe they are better for bulkier Dacron lines? Are they SS or plated brass? I am posting this for information only, not for debate. From 12/14/1995 to present: 300 fatalities (in the US) 112 or 37% from landing/low turn/hook turn 68 or 61% of those had fewer than 500 jumps 73 or 65% of those were under 40 yrs. 47 or 42% were under 40 yrs. & had fewer than 500 jumps. 32 or 29% were under 30 yrs. & had fewer than 500 jumps. 20 or 18% were under 25 yrs. 49 or 43% had fewer than 250 jumps. 22 or 19% were under 30 yrs. & had fewer than 250 jumps. The Microline is trying to fit in the same grommets that they have always used for sliders, #8. My Sharpchuter has 750 Dacron, no problems. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
