  1. Since I am my packer, it wouldn't do much good to blame him. He'll just tell me "tough shit, next case".
  2. There was a whole fleet of them. Perris, the little DZ at the time, even had one for a time. And yes, they did have wood & fabric wings and tails. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  3. Tonto, This is History & Trivia, I doubt he wants to do an investigation. Maybe looking for confirmation of something that may just be a skydiving myth. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  4. They are easy to find, you just have to go to the Denist! Maybe thats why I only have the one.
  5. Wow. Reading this thread now, written some 19 months prior to the release of the Mirage SB certainly puts several things into perspective. I've been skydiving 20 years this week. It's so good to hear that someone who was building rigs long before I'd ever heard of a Javelin, Wings, Infinity, Icon, Vortex etc, is still well ahead of the curve. Well. At least 19 months, anyway! Thanks so much for the information. t Would that be a "I told you so" or what? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  6. Do you mean 4 lower controll lines? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. I have been using a dental pick for several years and they work great. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  8. Hey Frank, Small world, I jumped with another of the jumpers the were the load from Shafter to Taft. He told the same story about the engines. Remember Norm Van Pelt. Well he just got married to Phil Christman's daughter, Patti and some of Air Trash went up to make a jump with him and celebrate. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  9. Yes, the same Bill Parsons. I saw him at Old Farts this year and he has changed, but I guess most of us have. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  10. Damn Good Airplane No more calls, we have a winner. From what I have heard it is the only Airplane that has never had an AD issued on it. Sparky Don't know about the AD thing but our pilot used to bitch about the engine torque on the Howard requiring a bunch of rudder input on TO roll to keep it going straight. The pilot did like to fly the airplane

  12. By "which stows" do I use, I take it you are asking what kind of bands. I use Tube Stows. and they are 3 inches in from the edge of the bag. That is on a bag that is 13 inches wide. Like I posted earlier, this is the same way your reserve is packed and reserves do not have a problem with line dump so there is no reason a main would. 13. I only use 2 stows on my main bag and put the rest of the lines in a pocket on the side of the bag. I make the stows about 1.5 inches to 2 inches. I have jumped it this way for over a thousand jumps. This is the way your reserve is packed and it works great. There is no such thing as line dump from loose or short stows or you would have it on every reserve deployment. Line stows are for staging the deployment not for metering or reefing it. There is bag strip and that is caused by excessive snatch force. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  14. The PD-113R is 286 cu. in. and the Tempo 120 is 267 cu. in. But like Terry said, this can vary by about 10% on any given day. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  15. This is a quote from AS-8015B: ***4.2.2 Primary Actuation Device/Ripcord: The following information shall be marked on the primary actuation device/ripcord: a. Part number, including dash number b. Manufacturer’s identification c. TSO-C23( ) d. Batch, serial number, or date of manufacture (month and year) Manufactures have been a little more than lax in doing this but it is required. It would have made CWo3-01 easier to deal with. They are a TSO's item. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  17. Yeah, the hookers tell that to girlfriends all the time... Could that be because the hookers are better at it then the girlfriends are? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  18. The price for a demo depends on several things. What is the venue, how many jumpers are needed, day time or night time, what type if any special equipment,(smoke, flags, banners, costumes) and what the customer requires of you. Some jobs are an all day event where you work the crowd before and after the jump, some may require 2 or more jumps in a day, and some may be a hit and run affair. Remember that if you do a demo for nothing, that is what you are telling the customer your services are worth. Every time you exit the plane on a demo you have around $4,000.00 + - on your back. If you lose any part of it, tough shit. Cost of doing business. And thats how the jump should be approached, as a business. It is not a skydive, it is a performance, a show for the crowd, not for the jumpers. When you figure in Insurance, A/C, paperwork, preparation time, other jumpers and little incidentals, if you charge $1000.00 it had better be for a one person demo with a short plane ride. If not you will loose money. As Airtwardo says, "Make a jump, get a check". Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  19. I can't remember who said this but it has a ring of truth, "There are no experts in skydiving, all the experts are dead". The best you can hope for is if you watch everyone, listen to what is being said and you might learn enough from your last jump to get you through your next one. 20. JD, I don't live where there are hurricanes. Just earthquakes. TSR, orange jumpsuit, floater on your plane. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  22. Oh, I know about Maglite, I live about 20 miles from the factory and carried one for almost 30 years. Just never saw the point is a "C" Maglite. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  23. If you have had all that happen in just 130 jumps, maybe you should look into a packing class. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  24. Haven't seen one of those in a long while. I bet most do not even know what you are referring to. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  25. You are wrong, not every DZ in California is a GM. What you need to do is buy a pet, get out more or start taking medication. The fantasy world you live in is starting to show and most people aren't interested in seeing it. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
