  1. Thanks Red Headed Lady. (old man blushes) All that I have done is what others have done for me and I expect you to do for others. I get a kick watching people learn, the light come on while they are in freefall and it starts coming together for them. You listen well and learn fast Lady. 12. But if they have not received a letter of TSO authorization from the FAA the rig is not TSO's in the US. See Attachment: Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  13. The FAA does not have any record of a company by the name of MarS holding a TSO. Or any company in the Czech Republic holding a TSO. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  15. A quote from their web site. "At the same time we are able to secure following operations: • development and manufacture of the prototypes of the circular parachutes and wing parachutes in the range of the specifications given by the customer (i.e. loading capacity, forward speed, descending, complete weight, system strength etc.) • making of the complete manufacture documentation incl. technological processes • further we are able to secure the flying tests in the range given by TSO C23d, prospective in the accordance with the requirements of the customer. We do the documentation and supporting of the tests in all the range. • common series production more demanding for the needlewomen qualification (parachute techniques etc. It sounds like they may have tested to the standards of TSO C23d but there is no record of them holding a TSO of any type. 18. I would think that you have your answer in this statement. The company that makes the canopy says it is too small for you. Hello. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  19. 300 feet or 3 seconds. I think you will find that most are tested to 3 seconds. Loss of altitude in 3 seconds will vary greatly depending on speed. At 120 mph it is around 520 feet. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  20. This is one thing you keep saying Ron, and for some reason it annoys the hell out of me. For me a skydive starts when you leave the airplane and ends when you are on the ground. This is where incidents start to happen, people think just because they have pulled something, they have stopped the skydive. Well they haven't, and they are still skydiving until they are on the ground. You cannot stop a skydive until you are on the ground. This is what makes skydiving such a risky sport. You are going to continue going downwards with no way to stop until you hit the ground. Just make sure you hit the ground softly or at least at a survivable speed. A canopy over your head will help you achieve this. Once you have a canopy over your head do not switch off, you are still skydiving. Keep flying until your are safely on the ground. Dave, I think most people understand the point he is trying to make. Back in the day it was "when in doubt, whip it out". A catch phrase is easier to remember at 120 mph. 23. Right and wrong. The apex vent does help reduce oscillation but very little. It main purpose is to vent high-pressure air during inflation. Without it under the right conditions, high speed-heavy load, the canopy would blow up. Venting at other places on a canopy can produce drive but steering is dependant on being able to manipulate the vents during descent. For a better explanation see PPM VOL I, page 468 or refer to Decelerator Systems Technology by Helmut G. Heinrich Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  24. Do have an FAR reference on this? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  25. One of the main reasons for the apex vent on round canopies is to vent high pressure air during canopy inflation. If the apex vent were large enough to stop oscillation, the descent rate would be to fast to survive the landing. A 24' flat has an apex vent and oscillate like a SOB. But if you put a couple of vents at the skirt level a couple of gores apart, most of the oscillation will stop. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
