  1. Have you ever found anything that made you happy? Your world must be a very lonely place Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  2. And how many jumpers carry a radar gun in their kit bag? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  3. Sparky, I can't remember the specifics, but I have some flat dacron in the shop. I think it was for a round Canopy. Now, that I think about it, didn't the five cell Swift have flat Dacron lines?? MEL You are right; Para-Flite uses it on the MT1-X canopies and the old Swift reserve. It is 600 pound Type I and is covered by Natick Specification T-C-2754. I wonder why Dacron is not covered by a MIL-Spec.? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  4. Maybe he and KBone car pool back and forth to ATCville every day? Are you trying to tell us something?
  5. Dom, Give me the word, we will track him down and wack him.
  6. Pssst...the MT1-X is 370 and the MT1-S is 270 sq. feet not cu. feet..
  7. As far as I know, Dacron only comes in braided, coated or uncoated. I have never seen it in a true "flat braid". Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  8. Dave, I am sure there is some reduction in drag due the reduction in the frontal area of the riser. But I doubt that there are many swoopers that have access to the equipment needed to measure the difference. Some mods function like a rabbits foot. 9. Yes, I am a rigger. And the way I became a rigger was by asking questions and trying to learn as much as I could about parachutes. Even a good rigger doesn't have all the answers, but he/she usually knows where to look for them. And is willing to make the effort to look. I have very little experience with a Spectre and thought it would be a good idea to tap into the experience and knowledge available on DZ.com. FYI: its not my canopy, it belongs to a customer. 10. And the business owner has every right to refuse service. If you don't like how a DZO runs his/her DZ you have 2 options. 1. Jump some where else 2. Open your own DZ and run it the way you want. If you chose option 2 and someone posts a bad review of you operation are you going to do it his way or yours? If he posted a bad review on the DZ why does he give a shit if he is banned? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. Hey my man. nice rig. Don't wear it to work, they won't understand.
  12. John, Getting there is more important then getting their fast. If you get in a wreck driving there or fall on your ass running around once there, you have just become part of the problem and given up being part of the solution. By running to and fro all you do is raze the anxiety level of everyone else on the scene. Moving “with purpose” and with efficiency will serve the patient better and allow the EMS personnel to make it through the shift. The State of CA did a study in the early 80's on Fire Dept. units driving Code 3 to an incident. The units that drove balls to the wall did not get there any quicker than the units that observed a 35 mph speed limit on surface streets. But they did wear out the brakes on the units at twice the rate. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  14. When you say Type II & Type V, are you reffering to MIL-C-5040 Cord, Nylon, MIL-C-7515 (MIL-C-7981) Cord, Nylon Braided or MIL-C-17183 Cord, Nylon Braided, Tubular? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  15. It's every 1000, not 100. 100 jump 'pieing' is just sad, it's like having a 'graduation' for 2nd grade. And after celebrating every 1000 jumps I bet you walk on water. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  16. Have you noticed the trend in injuries and fatalities under good canopies? And people keep saying, "I am different, I can handle it". Go figure. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  18. Deployment does not happen until after the canopy comes out of the bag. Snatch force is dependent on the differential in speed of the bagged canopy and the load at line stretch. Opening shock is dependent on fill time and slider size and design. As far a "line dump" goes, if there is such a thing it would happen every time a reserve was fired. They only use 2 locking stows. The locking stows keep the canopy in the bag and prevent the start of deployment until line stretch is reached. Other stows if used keep the lines playing out neat and orderly and to some degree contribute to bag whip. Jmo Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  19. And the plate came from skill? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  20. How can stows affect the speed of the deployment? The canopy is still in the bag until after the stows have released. Stows may change the time to line stretch but have no affect on deployment. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  21. PD said they do not have a smaller slider for the Spectre 170. So no exchange. I am going to try and buy the next smaller size they have which is 20" x 31". The one on it now is 30" x 23". What size were you jumping and what size slider did you go to? It seems I am fixing that pop top about every 20 minutes. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  22. That does not say it is the smart thing to do. Luck had a much to do with you getting away with it a skill. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
