  1. I have only seen the one a Yuma Proving Grounds. It is in the middle of a MOA, military operating area. A few years ago I was involved in some canopy testing there and we would take off and fly right by it on the way to the drop area. The damn thing is huge. 2. Has anyone taken the time to give you the "bowling ball" talk? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  3. I asked her to read the original "question". She did within a couple of days. She stated JS does not spend time reading DZ.com (it is too time consuming) so don't be surprised if there is no answer. rm She found time to read and respond twice to this thread. 4. You can’t compare a main D-bag with a reserve free bag. They are apples and oranges. On a main bag the pilot chute is attached to the canopy so it would be real hard to have “bag strip” without ripping a hole in the top of the canopy. I have been jumping the bag in the attached pictures for over 1000 jumps. It is used with a 245 sq. ft. Sharpchuter, 10.8 pounds. The 2 locking stows are tube stows with the remainder of the lines in a side pocket much like a reserve free bag. I have yet to experience an out of sequence deployment or a hard opening due to anything related to the bag. It reduces bag whip and the lines are staged with much less chance of catching on all the extra stows. This is not a theory; it is something that has been proven over 1000 times. 5. It is really amazing how many questions can be answered by this one statement. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  6. The company I worked for used it a couple of times for high speed drop tests. It had a beautiful paint job and the interior was done in glove soft gray leather. It was really puss. When we used it Skip Holm was flying. He has won the Gold Class at Reno in Dago Red. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. I resemble that remark. I am old, but it sure beats the alternative. Wait a minute, what was the question. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  9. Dah! Sparky as it says to do "Does anyone know what the cypress codes mean? " He didn't know it said to do that but he went ahead and jumped it 4 times anyway. It appears he did not RTFM. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  10. "However, test weight must be not less than 264 lb (119.7 kg) and the test speed must be not less than 180 KEAS (333.4 km/h) for reserve and emergency parachute assemblies; for dual harness parachute assemblies for test weight must not be less than 480 lb (217.7 kg) and the test speed must not be less than 210 KEAS (388.9 km/h)." 12. I think you will find this is not a "generalized" comment. It is a legitimate request for information about statements made by Jump Shack. Nancy seems to have chosen not to respond. If you have any of the facts maybe you would like to comment. How do these manufactures deal with the requirements of AS8015-B sections 2.1.2, 4.3.4, 4.3.4.2, and 5.1? Where would I find the facts on the incidents mentioned above? How were these conclusions determined? Why can I find anything about the investigations? If you don't have any of the answers I am looking for that is fine, but I don't need to be called and idiot or mentally unarmed. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  13. That’s a pretty high ratio. Maybe you should offer to pack their main also.
  14. But we had a lot of people paying attention, thinking and maybe learning something. My first jump instructor's opening words were, "This is a thinking mans sport, you quite thinking and you WILL die." He then asked if anyone wanted a refund. And you little maggot, you just hope and pray you can last as long as me. HaHaaaaa, not a chance.
  15. Having been involved in testing for over 20 years I have learned one thing. “If you can imagine it, it can happen.” What happens in the air can not always we repeated on the ground and what happens during a “table pull” in not always what will happen in the air. 17. Sparky: I'm a LOT of things, BUT i'm NO LIAR. You know that. This man is a DZO who employed a very dear friend of mine at one time, i wouldn't want to drag him into this, he means too much to me. Simple as that. Don't get me wrong, i have all of the e-mails in archive that prove my position, thus you not hearing from the seller. C'mon, put 2 & 2 together. PM received and I understand. Thanks. 18. Without all the information available its hard to judge. If you feel the man cheated you, put it all out there. If you are not sure maybe you should have held off on posting at all. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  19. I think the existing testing standards require it. But I could be wrong. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  22. It'd be better if you used the term "preponderance of evidence" . Opps, damn spell-check. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  23. And the reply you quote was not directed at someone with thousands of jumps and one of the top canopy pilots in the sport. It was directed at some with less than 500 jumps and very little time in the sport. See the difference? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  24. Being one of the "gray beards" of today, what I do when the winds come up or get gusty is what the old timers did when I was a newer jumpers. Just sitting back and watching the show.
  25. For a number of years I taught a class at Scaled Composites on the use and care of various pilots’ rigs they were using. I would emphasize the importance of putting the rig on and tightening everything before getting in the plane for that very reason. Besides having a variety of rigs they also flew a wide range of aircraft from standard GA to experimental. I was able to convince the Opps. Manager that each A/C should have a written emergency egress procedure in each pilot practice it until they could do it smoothly. I would start each class by asking them to think of all the pilots they knew or had heard of that had died flying aerobatic or an experimental aircraft. I would wait a minute or two and tell them that all the pilots they had just checked off in their minds had died wearing a parachute. The greatest problem for them to overcome is to decide when they will stop being a pilot and get the hell out. And this they must decide before the event happens.
