I am thinking of giving up jumping and going into business with a friend building "choppers" for the RUBS of the So. Ca. They seem to be just as fucking dumb as jumpers but willing to pay more. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Bill Edwards, Dirty Ed, Sled, ect. He is the man that put Al Kruger out on his first jump. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

One of the best posts this place has ever seen or will ever see. That’s just my humble opinion. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Terry, With your knowledge and experience you know dam well it is possible. Now will it ever be done? I doubt it. Too much bull shit to wade through. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

There is only one way to determine if a canopy is airworthy. That is to jump it and see what happens. Very few riggers are willing to do that, so they come up with a variety of other methods to tell you your reserve is garbage. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Because you are not nearly as dumb as you look.

No you wouldn't. You would party just as hardy. Like the rest of us.

This website is very interesting reading: www.irvinaerospace.com Apparently, they're still around. (You oldtimers know this, but newbies like me and you don't know this). In the business for 85 years, wow! They also make the shuttle landing parachute too. Still a fair bit of resemblance in the logo. 1927 Logo and 2006 Logo. At the nationals in Richmond in 1978 I filled Tommy Owens's canopy with grass just to see what he would do. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Of the 10 in the first 10 way, it has been my privilege to meet 9 and jump with 6. If you met them at any DZ in the country you would not know they were the fathers of RW. They are unassuming and there just to make a jump. They are the true “Sky gods” of skydiving. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

If you have access to a copy machine I know how you can pick up some extra jump money.

I put about 500 jumps on a "free pack" or trash pack. Walk up the lines pushing the slider ahead of you. Grab the nose and shake it, lay the canopy down and wrap it with the tail. "S" fold the lines in the pack tray and then fold the canopy on top of that. Close the container and stow the P/C. After about 300 jumps I had a line group half hitch one of the main flaps. At about 1000 feet I had run out of ideas and fired the reserve into it. A diapered round, and it worked. After that I went to a tail pocket to stow the lines in. A couple hundred more jumps like that and then I saw the light. Oh yea, the canopy was a Paraflite CruisAir. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

How much faster were you going and how much farther was your swoop?

well i thought it would be better to post my question into this existing threat than to post a new one that has (almost) the same subject... ok or bad habit? Good habit. If you post on the same subject the repost police will come and take you kids. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Once I get the source, I plan to download it at about 0300 from a T1 line at work. Once I get it on a thumb drive or CD, I can more easily share it. OK! First what the hell is "0300 from a T1 line", and what is a "thumb drive"? Is Booth or PD coming out with something new? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I resemble that remark... Somehow I think the difference is a LOT more than that... but I'm not even going to attempt to introduce any math into this thread. No matter what the difference is, there are only a handful of canopy pilots that can tell the difference and have the ability use it. The rest are going for "cool". I have heard of 8082-15a, Parachute Rigger Knowledge Test Guide, FAA-S-8081-25, Parachute Rigger Practical Test Standards and 8010.5J, Parachute Rigger Examiner Handbook but have not seen a “Parachute Rigger Handbook”. But I did hear from someone,??, that Sandy was writing one. If anyone comes up with a source I would like to get one. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
