  1. Me to! I did not see you at Cal. City on 6 May.
  2. You guys have got to be kidding, or you live in a fantasy world. When the right one comes along you will put the seat lid down and buy her all the shoes she wants. And your final word on any subject will be "Yes Dear". My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  3. I have jumped from as high as 30,000 feet several times. Temperature at exit is always -40 degrees or colder. The secret is keeping you hands as warm as possible while climbing to altitude. What I would do is wear silk glove liners under my normal skydiving gloves, Nike batting gloves. While climbing I wear a pair of heavy motorcycle gauntlets over the Nike gloves and glove liners. Just before, and I mean just before, I exit I take the motorcycle gauntlets off and stow them in the A/C. From 30K to 4K is about 2 minutes + in freefall and my hands would be cold but still have tactile feel. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  4. And your own research is what you should do then. Then you will have your hand held by so many different people on the net instead of the people who make the item you are researching because they will probably lie to you. Is that about right? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  5. Did they have flash-bang (stun) granades in 1972? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  6. Does that mean any rigger that installed a vigil lacks even a "bit of mechanical reasoning skills"? If it was so obvious maybe the riggers should have refused to do the work. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. Spent a lot of time learning about our gear did we? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  8. Do you have any idea how wide spread the problem is or what it would takes to require a SB? Skydivers are great at bitching about the cost of their toys and that is just what any skydiving gear is, a toy. They shop the lost price item they can find andt then bitch because it does not work the way they think it should. Do we know this is what Vigil charges or is this just the posters best guess? 9. I suggest you go anywhere you wish to buy gear. But this is not "any other business" as I am sure you will find out. It would be interesting to have you post again in maybe a year or 200 jumps and tell us how well you did on picking out “exactly what I want.” If you re-read what I posted: “What is gained for a face to face on any matter can’t be bought or sold.” I said nothing about writing to a dealer. 10. Hummmm....Where have I heard that before? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. I can understand why you are upset at the added cost. But why should Vigil pay for damage caused by someone else? I have not packed many rigs with a Vigil but I have also not damaged any. Ask your rigger if he is willing to pay. He is the one that caused the damage. I have found that when instructions and manual are followed things work out better. 12. Did you know any of this before you bought the canopy? If you did why are you "peasing off". If you didn't shame on you. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  13. You best source is always going to be the manufacture. Call them or email them. Why is that so hard for people to understand. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  14. This is just a guess but I would say that most newer jumpers in the market for gear have access to an experienced gear dealer. What is gained for a face to face on any matter can’t be bought or sold. For the dealer it is being able to see the jumper and make educated recommendations on size, type and even options that would best suit the jumper. For the jumper it is being able to gage if the dealer is just selling shoes or trying to provide the best gear combination possible for that jumper. Price is always a consideration when buying anything. But when buying something that will save your life EVERY time you use it, price should not be a major consideration. Without the help and experience of an established dealer very few if any new jumpers are is a position to make sound choices on their own. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  15. On a demo......nothing, not a thing! Be safe and put on a good show. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  16. This would probably be a good idea, but make sure you demo a 7 cell. It will perform and land different than a 9 cell. A Canopy control class also comes to mind. Stay safe and enjoy.
  17. "Snarky", thats it, you are getting "Snarky". Sparky shakes his head and calls the home, "please send someone over he got out again." My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  18. You gotta love the issuing authority. And yes, you are old. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  19. Some riggers use a "molar" strap when packing reserves. Molar Strap Scrool down to Item S7668 My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  20. I was just a Newbe at the time, I would not think of trying to talk to someone like Jeannie. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  21. Thats why they print manuals, if you can read, and you have to to get a riggers lic., you can pack any canopy/container combination that is approved. Lap rigs were only made for a short time during the 30's I believe. And it has been way over 20 years since a Lap rating was issued. If given the choice of chest or seat, I think it would be better to go for seat. Not many uses for a seat outside of military applications. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  22. Do you think it is advisable to jump any 7 cell reserve made of F-111 type material loaded to 1.3:1 with 150 jumps? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  23. Who is he and is he a "manufacture or engineer"? Just asking. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  24. Her death is recorded in Skydiving magazine for 5/31/81, which (unless Skydiving was *very* late on this) puts the date in the spring of '81. (I don't have the issue immediately at hand.) HW And you guys thought I was just another pretty face.
