Wonderhog and stratostar - I dare ya!

I think he is the one selling it. Things have been slow at RWS I heard. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -

Can ZP canopies be used to jump large flags?
mjosparky replied to Snowjumper's topic in Gear and Rigging
*** No Sparky...he said "VERY LARGE FLAG!" I am sorry, how about this? 2200 sq. ft. is the largest I have. -
You have 15 jumps, maybe this would be a good time to start listening to knowledgeable when they offer advice. Bonnie is pretty damn good at what she does and gave you sound advice. But you can shop around and find someone to tell you what you what to hear. You quit jumping in 2003 because of a landing injury. What was the W/L on that canopy? Here is the one I have been using for about 4 or 5 years. I got it from Bob Celeya a DPRE from Cal City. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Cooper Hockey helmet. All the rage in the late 70's.

It was called "The Solution". I had one in 77 or 78. Had it come open after leaving 9 or 10 out of a D-18. Knocked the crap out of me and tore a Piglet from skirt to apex. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

What makes risks acceptable versus unacceptable?
mjosparky replied to lawrocket's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It is sort of like have surgery. When you have surgery it is minor surgery. When I have surgery it is major surgery. If you get killed jumping I might see that as acceptable. If I get killed jumping that is totally unacceptable. It comes down to you point of view. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
I agree, the loop does not know how the force is applied. Regardless of how it is applied you need enough force to get the loop through the bag, the P/C and all the flaps far enough to put the pin in. As in any rigging task care needs to be taken. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

The problem we face is there seems to be a fringe group that are better with food then they are at thinking. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

And one thing that she did to counter those mistakes was to keep thinking, and dealing with the situtation that she had, and not the situation that she wanted to have, or "should" have had. That's huge. Wendy W. Wendy, you have made an excellent point. We all make mistakes on every jump we make. Its how we deal with the small mistakes while not losing sight of the big picture that allows us to go up and make more mistakes. The first thing the instructor of my FJC said to the class was, “This is a thinking man’s sport, you stop thinking and you will die”. Early in my career as a Firefighter an old salty Chief told me “Effective firefighting is a series of corrected mistakes beginning with the fire.” My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

PPM is not used as the standard for TSO, and nether is the New Riggers Handbook. AS-8015B 1. SCOPE: This document defines the minimum performance standards for personnel parachute assemblies to be carried in aircraft or worn by passengers, crew, or parachutists for emergency use. This document covers three types of personnel carrying parachute assemblies and the operating limitations for each: The 22 pounds includes the seal thread under TSO-C23d. 4.3.2.1 Primary Actuation Device/Ripcord, Human Factors Tests: The primary actuation device/ripcord shall be ground tested by a representative user group of no less than 6 male and 6 female subjects. They shall be able to operate the actuation device without difficulty. The ripcord, or equivalent, shall be sealed in accordance with FAR 65.133 for these tests AS8015B is the standard to which all TSO-C23d testing is done. Attached is a copy of the Document. Since it makes reference to HAHO only and then only to 25,000 msl I would say it is not designed for HALO missions. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Can ZP canopies be used to jump large flags?
mjosparky replied to Snowjumper's topic in Gear and Rigging
What type of material is it made of and what canopy do people use to jump it. It sounds like a good candidate for a tandem rig. Usually bigger is better, it gives you more options. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
This site will give you some good information on HALO/HAHO rigs and canopies. http://www.paraflite.com/Personnel%20Ram%20Air%20Systems.htm My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Can ZP canopies be used to jump large flags?
mjosparky replied to Snowjumper's topic in Gear and Rigging
How big is "Very large flags"? This flag is 600 sq. ft. and the canopy is F-111. But it is 245 sq. ft. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
Because of Scott and his like we can play silly games on the net. Thank you for doing what you do "LouDiamond".

The C-9 is not a typical canopy used by the Army. It is used by the USAF and Navy in air crew systems and some ejection seats. An all up airborne jumper jumping a C-9 would have a decent rate closer to 35 + ft/s.

Jumping with a slightly injured leg?
mjosparky replied to masterblaster72's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
They don't follow it for the same reason skydivers don't take advice from other skydivers, they think they know more then the person offering the advice. But that’s OK because pain is an excellent teacher. The greater the pain the better the lesson is learned. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
I cant believe this needs to be said but.......

Rob Harris, Dave Wilds, Tom Piras, Roger Nelson……..They were Gods, World Champions, Icons. They had natural talent, incredible skills and were hugely current………And yet the ground offered them no concession for their level of skill or experience. There are few, now or in the future, that will ever reach their level in this game we play. Never for a moment become so arrogant as to believe you are the one that has what it takes to avoid their fate. (stolen in part from Tonto, thanks my friend) Remember, “You are not now, nor will you ever be good enough not to die in this sport.” As Dom said, get used to it or go away.
