How many different type aircraft have you jumped from?

aironscott First off, I am not a fan of the Catapult. But what you have described is pure BS. If it would happen, as you describe it, with a Catapult it would happen with any rig. Have you ever seen this happen or even heard of it happening? I don’t think so. Have you done any testing to validate your “theory”? Again I don’t think so. Riggermick Its amazing how much that is considered "fact" about parachuting gear started out like that. Joe Blow said it so it must be fact. Trouble is Joe Blow often does not know his ass from a hot rock My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

you can't count multiple otters as different planes!! or I'm going to count all the different C182s that had wing extentions, 3 bladed prop, engine upgrades, etc. Its my list, I'll count anything I want. -

The pins in use today were developed about 50 years ago. Both types of pins, terminal and intermediate, were designed for use on containers that used “cones” where most of the pressure was applied to the cone a grommet. With the through loop of today all the closing pressure is applied to the pin. In the early 80’s ParaInnovtors developed a SS pin that was soldered to the cable and was strong as shit. It had some problems, in my opinion, but it was a step in the right direction. We need someone with the resources to step up and invent a pin that is compatible with the modern sport rig. Do I hear any takers? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Nope, thats why I put "if you were in, all is good". Because I feel the same way. You signed on the dotted line...deal with it. However, it boils my blood when people who have never served try and sit back and spout words of wisdom like that. I'd just had that happen too, overheard a contractor telling a soldier that. And I know for a fact this guy has never served a day in his life and gets paid $150,000 a year to sit in an office and take care of soldiers. However, had his Platoon Sgt just told him to suck it up....I'd have . Just depends on who the comment is coming from. I'll STFU now . I can see your point of view. Its all good.

No disrespcet intended here. But please, please tell me you were or are in the military before you spouted that off.......if you are/were....all is good . If not....STFU 1964/1968 U.S. Navy. Twelve month tour in Viet Nam as a Corpsman with 2/3 Golf Co. USMC. Now that you have spouted off how about you pull your foot out of your mouth and STFU. No disrespect intended, just a small slap to the side of your head to remind you that most of my generation did time in the military.

Spent years just listening to jumpers, young and old, talk about parachutes and jumping. Learned to filter out the bad and file away the good. The more years I spent listening the more I seemed to learn. Knowledge is a great foundation for building more knowledge. I found that I could learn something from just about every jumper I met even if it was something not to do.

This important to remember when packing any ram-air canopy. In my opinion failure to do this one thing causes the largest percentage of hard openings. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

How thoroughly do you inspect reserves/containers?
mjosparky replied to jheadley's topic in Gear and Rigging
I hope you mean a rig you have never seen before? Would you do this for your customer if you packed it the last time and know that they always take care of there gear and had no bad landings and no reserve rides? I mean every rig. During the 120-day repack cycle I have no way of knowing what the rig has been exposed to or how it was treated. The day I start taking things for granted is the day I will quit rigging. -
It seems to me that the advise to be quiet came a little late. Next time you want to rat out someone/someplace be up front about it. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I would say that just about covers it. A good rigger will say "I don't know" or "I can't do that" but will know where to look for the answer or know where to go to get it done.

Hike, I thought the plane was just flying low. -
If you meant this for me, I quit 6 years ago using just tooth picks.

Hey T, I agree, good swooping has more to do with good technique then with gadgets.

These are fatalities from low turns, not "panic turns" or "have to face the wind" turns. But from the results I would have to say they they were "stupid turns".
