From the consumers point of view, no. After I've stowed the brakes, uncollapsed the slider, cocked the pilot chute, run the lines, and replaced broken rubber bands I might as well just pack the fucking thing. Tell you what, I'll do all that and only pay you $2.50 per pack job, sound fair? Dude, it's a job, not a charity. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

In this case the driver could have driven away and not shot anyone. It appears from this article that there was no immediate threat of physical harm. Bad gun owner, bad. One could also say that the shooter should have paid attention to Uncle Sam's rule: Don't shoot unless you are in imminent peril. I don't think that he was. I support the pro-gun lobby John, I really do. This just isn't the case to support your cause. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Why do gear manufactures promise a date that they can't deliver on
Jimbo replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Gear and Rigging
I've been thinking more and more about this lately, like you, I'm eagerly expecting new gear. Gear manufacturers and dealers, listen up! There's nothing worse than finding out at the last minute that the gear you've waited so patiently for isn't going to be on time. I think it would go a long way to keeping the customer happy if the customer was made aware of delays in a timely fashion. That means call the customer as soon as you know that the product won't be there on time, not at the last minute. Nobody likes bad news, bad news at the last minute is even worse. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed. -
I didn't ask if your opinion would change if you knew someone who died. I asked if it would change if you had watched someone die. Big difference. Why would your opinion change if your husband was killed in skydiving? After all, he's just another statistic, right? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

What other methods do you suggest? What other methods would you have used, had it been your decision? It's a well understood concept that a war cannot be won simply by aerial assault. Ground troops are necessary, every time. - jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

That's sad, Benny. Really. With that single post you have sunk to the level of the common troll. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

And your post reads as though racially insensitive is a bad thing! I'd prefer to have every judge, every congressman, every politician, and all of my neighbors be labeled as "racially insensitive". Every single one of them. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Benny, the "special status" that got George into Yale wasn't in the form of government mandate. George got his special treatment in a private institution without government interference. Get it? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

What is your cutoff? At what point might you decide that skydiving is no longer "safe". You're new to the sport, I wonder if you'll have the same opinion after you've watched someone die. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

D'oh! I meant 717s, my bad. They had an old 707 at the museum yesterday, apparently it made an impression. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Not quite the SS, if you ask me. AirTran has gone out and purchased almost all brand new Boeing 707 aircraft. I've flown them several times, with rig in tow, and never had a problem. Question to the original poster: Was it ATA that refused the rig, or was it the TSA agent at the terminal? There's a pretty significant difference between the two. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Dude, I think that's your USPA number, not your license number. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Warning: Thread creep. Have you experienced this? Did they give you their reasons for this? I'm just curious. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

I believe that the USPA recognizes foreign repack cycles if the jumper is (a) foreign, and (b) using foreign gear. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Hey Jak, that looks pretty cool. Maybe you know, maybe you don't... I'm looking at the groupware pricing, if I purchase the groupware product do I have to also purchase the base product? Know what I mean? Thanks - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Again, we agree. When do you think it can be accomplished? Honestly, I don't think we (the coalition forces) can do this in the next year, or even two years. It's going to take a while to stabilize that mess, it really is. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Agreed. However, before we allow that to happen we need to stabilize the region. If we leave now things will be just as fucked up, if not more fucked up, than they were when we got there. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Except that tomorrow is a national holiday and I'd like to be sure they're open before I make the drive into the hell that is DC metro. I'll call in the morning. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
