Yeah, we had clear, wonderful blue skies yesterday at Perris. Those that jumped, though, had to deal with 18-20 mph winds with gusts up to 25. I guess the one jumper from the 'windy city' brought her blessing.....while the jumper from Anchorage brought the freezing cold! Yeah, CA was the place to be -this- weekend! Expecting the jumper from Hawaii to chip in today with their say! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

African American SkyDiver! What?
ltdiver replied to TXBLKBEAR's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What I find refreshing is that at every DZ I've been to all skydivers are color blind. I never even gave it a second thought until someone raised this discussion earlier on dz.com. Not all places you visit in life are like this. Nice to be part of a community that doesn't discriminate. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -
Where I learned to skydive, Palm Springs, Calfornia, we would occasionally get winded out and had to amuze ourselves doing other things in 'town'. It was interesting how our DZO/Pilot/Instructor/S&TA (all wrapped up in one very competent individual) could monitor if the winds were too high for students. If the Queen Palm tree's fronds were bent straight up on one side of the tree then the wind was too high for students to jump. That was almost exactly 14 knot winds! I remember many mornings waking up and looking out the window to just check to see if the palm trees were swaying or not! If so, I could enjoy another favorite of mine...sleeping in! Patience, dear Tonedog1980. It's very annoying I know to sit there and watch the day go by without a jump. But it will all happen in good time. Take the 'spare' time you have a sit and talk with other skydivers....your instructors....or perhaps those with 'big-fish stories'. You'll learn more than you'll ever know. And you will have a very productive day anyway...despite the sorry weather. Blues, ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Buckeye: Small, Cessna, family atmosphere. Eloy: Large, Otter, world champions train there. Take your pick. They're as different as night and day, but both will guarantee your fun. I know someone who'd NEVER jumped from a Cessna until he went to Buckeye. He's admittedly an Otter-snob. It was funny as hell to see him 'fear' falling off the step/strut! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

It was REALLY cool driving by the DZ last tuesday night. The wind tunnel was all lit up like a christmas tree with it's stairway and tunnel lights all aglow. Wish I had brought my camera along!! It made me stop and drink it all in before heading to my destination... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Yep. Had a friend in Russia who had a similar thing happen to him. Two video cameras on his head and ended up in severe line twists. He prayed that cutting away would -not- snag on his helmet. It didn't.

This sounds like my brother-in-law who's a truck driver! He has a -constant- 32 oz mug of coffee in his hand at ALL times! As for me...I can take it or leave it. Depends on how much sleep the night before... My work is great, though....free vats of coffee on tap 24/7.

What did your evaluator have to say about your accepetance of the obviously bad spot? You blame it on reserve-side, since they are responsible for spotting. Oh, that's pretty freakin' funny there, Shark! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Sherman -- set the Wayback Machine. Not always perfect, but sometimes useful. Uh, like I said.... This was a fun worldwide skydiving club...even more fun than Dan's Fault... It's spawning was in Snohomish, WA with the Seattle Skydiver Club. They detested the negatvie persona that "Sky Gods" gave to the name of skydiving. They didn't like the attitude these Sky Gods gave to both newbie jumpers and the average 'there to have good fun' regular skydiver. And so they broke away and started their own club. The name deliberately spelled backwards of SkyGod. SkyDog! They invited anybody and everybody to join and have great skydives together. Nobody was excluded and the club grew worldwide! When the web site was up and running you could click on any portion of the world and find members there. You could meet friends in each and every DZ you visited...and were welcomed on the load and mentored into safe, yet still outrageously fun jumps. Unfortunately, "Zero", the HH of the SkyDog club decided to hang it up and moved somewhere down south. He offered to have somebody take up the torch and run with it, but (as far as I know) nobody has. If I have a chance, I'll look through my own archives and see if I can post a few of the 'skydog rules'. The jump you HAD to do to become a member et al. I remember my own SkyDog skydiving initiation jump! What a hoot!! I'm grinning now just remembering it.

And who says you can't drill holes in the bottom of the listed TRV22 dbox and mount it on top? I don't jump at TRV22 (yet) but correct me if I'm wrong those of you with this set-up. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Have you ever been so stressed that you felt physically ill?
ltdiver replied to Jib's topic in The Bonfire
Been there, done that. Not fun. However, you can influence your wellbeing through positive thoughts as well. For instance...one week I was getting sick with some flu-like-thing that was going around....but I was planning a HUGE WONDERFUL weekend with my boyfriend that I couldn't miss! I went around work literally saying "I am well, I am well! I feel great...I feel fantastic!!" and in two days the threatening illness completely bypassed me! (the weekend WAS incredible too! ) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

John Fleming jumps at Perris regularly. He has over 1900 skydives (over 900 of them after his sight left due to Retinitis Pigmentosa taking it away). He's one awesome guy. This past April we did a fund raiser for his chosen charity, "American Counsel for the Blind", in which I was asked to shoot video for. An article was written by Mike Muscat and was published in Skydiving Magazine. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
