I'm glad he remarked that it's not the right time for Jeb to run for the Whitehouse, but geeze...doesn't he know we've had enough of his clan to last more than one lifetime? http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/01/04/bush-jeb-bush-president/ ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

What progression method did you use to become a skydiver

At some DZ's, it's "Green light, open the door, glance down to make sure you're not over an active volcano, GO!" Anyone attempting to spot or delay in the door will hear nothing but "GO GO GO!" in response to a request for 20 right. Then that's the time you sit down with the DZO and pilot and work things out. If the safety of their clients (read: skydivers) are in jeopardy then there's something wrong there. Where I learned (again, Palm Springs) the wind direction and velocity would vary from hour to hour through the day. Even layer to layer on the way down! Occasionally we'd have to exit a few miles upwind to to over our LZ by pull-time. Of course, this was on a 182 DZ where the pilot communicated directly with us in the plane. :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -
I'll add to this. I recently had sinus surgery. An ENT did the honors. At my follow-up he handed me a NeilMed Sinus Rinse kit and advised me to use it. (this method is better than the 'teapot' way, IMO). After reading the testimonials on Amazon.com, I was convinced to give it a try! WOW! It's fantastic! Although a bit weird the first time around, you get over it and the benefits are amazing. I HIGHLY recommend you give this a try. People with allergies, especially, are singing its praise up and down the block. Much better than suffering. Much better than having to take drugs to medically help the sinuses stay clear. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I've heard stories of those sunset loads! The up jumpers would pull up a chair, pop open a beer, and watch the carnage exit and land. Must have been a hoot! Have any pictures? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

While this is true, I had to flash back to our method of putting students (tandems, too) out the door. It's amazing how quickly the 'he-man' types go wimpy in the plane. The harder they beat their chest on the ground the more they seem to cower in the plane once the door slides open! We combat this change of posture by putting the girls out the door first! The guy just can't back out after seeing his woman exit before him! Hopefully they've taught you that it's not the pilot's job to spot. A good pilot may get you over your target but it's the skydiver's job to look out the door, know the winds aloft (velocity -and- direction--all the way down to the ground) and make adjustments. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

That's interesting...I have always taught my AFF students that their AFFI's are their 'training wheels' in the sky. We help to keep them steady while they learn to fly. Once they've proved they can hold their own the training wheels come off. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

The DZ where I started (Palm Springs) went a different way than any of your posted choices. Started tandem progression, then static line. They didn't have AFF at their DZ. I haven't met any other DZ's who do this progression, but it worked just fine. Gotta say, though, that after getting full altitude on the tandems, the S/L seemed pretty close to the ground! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -
My nephew's motorcycle kept being messed with (and stolen) from his apartment complex. He fixed the deal by just rolling the bike inside at night. Not sure the manager appreciated it, but it was the only way to secure it. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I think it's called an odometer. Nah, they'll just have a sensor that reads the miles driven each time you hook up to charge your electric car. Just wait... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Man, I should have taken a picture of the all-black mofo I just trapped and got rid of. He was a ferral cat that adopted the neighborhood and would piss on my front door. Your cat and him would have been a pair! And for those who may cry 'foul' on me trapping 'blackie', I took him and let him go in the acreage around my sister's house (with her permission). LOTS of gophers and ground squirrels for him to catch and eat. Hmmmm....wonder if he skins his rodents like your kitty does. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Oh, okay. Trucker Dave works for himself, I believe. And yeah, it would suck big-time if you got hurt away from home. Understood. No out-of-town boogies for you, then. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

Nothing at all! I don't have a tunnel anywhere near me so it never crossed my mind. You're a truck driver. You can go anywhere and jump -while- earning a living. Very cool! Just pick up a load that's heading toward any wind tunnel and you're set! Then there's "Trucker Dave" who plans all his trips to hit DZ's around the country.... -

So, what's wrong with inviting the OP to do wind tunnel training and packing until age 18? -
Glad to read I'm not alone. I'd -planned- on getting to 3,000 this year. Sadly I logged less than 50 jumps. Quite a bad year for jump numbers... Here's to a better, injury free, 2009. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Remembered to drink an equal amount of h20 between glasses last night. Woke up just fine! Oh, and my english muffin didn't toast -enough- this morning. Had to put it through the toaster one more time.... < I lead such a boring life... > ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Maybe something for a big-way camp organizer to add to the instruction. I'd vote for a ground camera person to catch the break-off sequence. The in-air cameraflyers are, at break-off time, normally getting -themselves- out of harms way before someone opens under them. Speaking for myself, I wouldn't want to stick around while canopies are possibly popping up around me. Cameraflyers are either pulling in place at the -start- of break-off....or tracking with the group, clearing their own air space, and pulling with them, albeit a bit higher. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

LOL . Sky's -way- too short to be DB Cooper. ltdiver Guys in their 60's are FNG's in the Cooper saga. Cooper would be early '80s? now. Gotta get used to the concept that the people considered "old timers" at DZ.com were probably young sprouts next to Cooper (in terms of age)...if Cooper had any jump experience in the 60's. Sky is 72 years old. Compared to the rest of us "-we- are the FNG's". ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

We had a university run restaurant where I went to school that got it's name from this story. It was properly names "The Soup Stone". Some of the best homemade soup I've ever had. Man, I miss that place! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Test it also laying on your belly, in an arch, with your knees flexed like you're skydiving. This also takes up some of the suit's slack. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
