  2. Wow! Your Saturday just got busy! That's just too many fires and too many people to jump between! Stay safe and let me know if there's anything I can do to help you out. btw, does your wife work as a vet or at an animal shelter or something? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. News Alerts all over tv, radio and the web. A friend just called as he tried to navigate the 91 freeway, which has just shut down. The smoke is HUGE and houses going up in flames left and right. This is about 40 miles from my house, so no danger at this time. However, I can see the smoke from my house. http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Brush-Fire-Shuts-Down-Freeway-in-Corona.html http://cbs2.com/firewatch/Corona.fire.91.2.865378.html Any skydiver evacuated from the area can contact me if they need a place to stay. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. I agree with your statement. Static stretches have their place, as do dynamic ones. Depends on what you're aiming at achieving. Static stretches are not meant to increase 'muscle strength and power'. However, a lengthened tendon will help prevent injury for those who lack full ROM (range of motion) already. One just has to listen to the horrid pop that Gold Medalist Beach Volleyball Star Misty Mae-Treanor experienced! (shudder still when I think about it). I would love to hear her comment on what type of warm-up she did before taking the floor for that rehearsal. Listen to just the first minute of this review to hear the snap! Yes, that sound is the rupture of the tendon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Em9kwsCeTNo&feature=related For an athlete a conservative static stretching program is needed, and a dynamic one (which includes a warm-up before hand) is required before performance. Then there's the geriatric population.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  6. Only have Subway and Quiznos here in SoCal (that I'm aware of). No Firehouse or Jersey Mike Subs. However, I think a home-made sammich is the best of all. Anything and everything on it that you want! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  7. Congratulations Marc and Anne! Just goes to show that postwhoring on this site -can- bring about something wonderful!
  8. That brought tears to my eyes as I watched. Thank you for sharing. Today is also Veteran's Day here in the U.S. and I think about all they do to keep this country safe. A dear friend lost her son in Iraq last year. They emigrated from Russia and as her son grew he knew he wanted to follow in his father's foot steps and join the military to serve (his father served in his native country). He joined the U.S. Army as soon as he could and began his service to his new country. He was called to Iraq. http://www.patriotguard.org/Forums/tabid/61/postid/537586/view/topic/Default.aspx Gods Speed to everyone who is serving and who have served. We love you! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  10. I never had the pleasure of meeting David, however I've now spent the past hour absorbing his work on-line and am mesmerized by his intellect. I wish I could have met him. He was a very insightful and inspiring man. This creation speaks volumes on how he viewed life, I'm thinking. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  12. Yeah, Jim is one heck of a good pilot. We miss him at Perris....Glad he's still hanging with the skydiving crowd at Elsinore! Oh, and Spot...."Sugar Plums" are Fairies. "Sugar Plum Fairies. Well....they at least have wings! Good luck with the wingsuit record attempts! Thanks for writing the blog. I'll be checking back for more... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  13. http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/politics/2008/11/07/obama.briefing.entire.cnn Once again, very presidential. The mix between serious and a bit of humor was nice, too. 15. I'll just add what my instructor said to me when I got down from a jump and claimed that I'd hit alot of bugs in freefall (goggles were smeared). He just smiled and said "Bugs don't fly that high"! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  16. (trying not to sound condescending here): Let me point you back to my previous post. That is why we use "Married or Domestic Partner" in the 20 or so bills you referenced. I believe we understand each other. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  17. Sounds great eh? Except . . . the laws say "married" not spouses. If it had said, perhaps "persons in civil unions" it might have avoided a few things, but it doesn't it specifically says "spouses." While that is a minor distinction to you or me, let me assure you that is going to be parsed very finely by a lawyer for an insurance company that no longer wants to pay for somebody's medical bills. The reason I say up to 20 separate bills is because each and every use of the word "married" or "marriage" or any other variation is going to have to be gone over with a fine tooth comb to figure out the ramifications and how that effects another usage somewhere down the line. It's a hell of a lot of work. A lot more technical work than simply saying "here's $750 million dollars." Yes, to you and me the word 'spouse' equals the word 'marriage'. Sad that anyone else believes it doesn't equate, because it does. I'd bet the authors of the law meant it as such. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  18. How quickly did the 'bail-out bill' get through congress and signed by the president? Pretty dang fast. Government can move as quickly as it wants to, and with this outcry it has a chance to again. btw, why does it have to be '20 bills' when it can be just one to reference all of them with the inclusion of the new phrase? I'd check on that a bit more thoroughly. Not sure this is correct. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  19. That's an interesting comment, because one of the main points of the pro on 8 people was that as far as California was concerned, no ones rights were taken away last night. According to them, gay couples have all the same rights as straight couples because California has laws recognizing domestic partners. I don't know if that's true, and I would have liked to seen a debate centered around that claim. You are correct. In California Domestic Partners already have the same rights as those who are Married. Just not the "M-Word". See CA laws: FAMILY.CODE SECTION 297-297.5 and AB 205. ltdiver Unfortunately, the word "married" is used a number of times in some laws rather than "Domestic Partners." By changing the California Constitution, the laws applicable to "married" people will apply while those applying to "Domestic Partners" will not. That's pretty bad and what makes this a kind of ultimate "dick move" in my opinion because the vast majority of people have no idea how this works. See; http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/calawquery?codesection=all&codebody=married&hits=20 So why not include the words "Married or Domestic Partners" in each of those sections (yes, I read the lengthy articles you referenced). If the afore mentioned laws I referenced seem to be inadequate in their eyes, just make this inclusion in yours. Problem solved. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  20. Perhaps this is the one time that you and Kathleen Parker agree on something. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  21. That's about what they did with -this- DVD as well. Demi's on the cover and her character is portrayed as if she's the main subject...when all she has is a minor (and very badly played) role. I second your reviewer's rant. Don't buy this movie! If indeed it -is- a legitimate copy it's a very poor technology they used to do it. It'd be interesting to hear from those in the business how this all started. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  24. A very silly movie (one of Demi Moore's first?) called "Choices". Just finished watching it. A pretty corny movie. edit to add attachment pic of the DVD. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  25. Not a cameraflyer question, but a consumer one. My sister lent me an unopened DVD to watch while i'm recuperating here at home. The DVD has the proper signatures on the face of it, but the player surface of it is silver, not purple. But that's not the telling feature. The sound is horrible! It sounds like an LP record playing on a turn table! Crackles and all. The back of the DVD's case says: 1) "This DVD Disc is Formatted for Worldwide Use". 2) "MMI Gemstone Entertainment" 3) "Guaranteed Superior Quality" 4) "This DVD is a high quality MPEG2 compression. There may be some slight visual variances due to the state of the original master." My question is this. Is this a pirated copy, or just an old DVD from when the technology was new? Or....a very sad attempt at some low budget media house? As I said, the sound really sucks, and the picture quality isn't that sharp either. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
