I jump a digi here in CO, and I'm 90% sure the last time it i jumped it was colder than anytime I jumped in TX. I've had no problems with it at all. What could have happened was it was cracked due to a riser strike, then broke off after you landed or during your flare when the toggles moved over it. Fly it like you stole it!

lisa hunny you can drink bourbon from between my breasts anytime. You know I think I got more new years kisses from you than from anyone else including Derek. Fly it like you stole it!

hmmm....I'd rather be on a plane with some one who checks their handles and pins, rather than with some one who only checks them once. Moving around in the plane causes handles to get dislodged, flaps to be opened, pins to get worked loose. Straps can also come loose, or require adjustment. I've seen someone walk to the door of the plane with her reserve handle tucked under her main lift webbing, which happened when she leaned over to do a practice count. I've seen d-bags come out of containers on the plane when pins were dislodged from brushing against the side of the plane. I can't count the number of pilot chutes I've seen half way out the BOC and fixed for the jumper. So you know what I'll continue to check my gear multiple times on the way to altitude, and I'll continue to tell students the same thing. If that scares you to jump with me, then don't get on the plane. Fly it like you stole it!

Diva - it's my right hand, so life is sucking big time. Lou - It's basically a spiral fracture of the distal radius that didn't break all the way threw, so technically....yes I could break it worse. I'm going to do whatever my Dr. decides tomorrow, since everything is where it should be, it should heal fast, with no surgery needed. Thanks, for the positve thoughts guys...We will still be in eloy, just for not as long, and I'll be making sure one of the bar stools doesn't move at the bent prop. Fly it like you stole it!

Well take me off of whatever lists I'm on for jumping. Broke my wrist today snowboarding, I'm grounded for the nest 3-4 weeks. Fly it like you stole it!

Hmmm...that reminds me I have to get a video tape for the after hours entertainment, cause pookie bear won't let me use the ones he has for videoing students or landings or other stuff. Fly it like you stole it!

This is not a stupid question at all. I as a small girl also have short arms, and while shorter risers can make things easier when collapsing the slider/stowing it, and working with the toggles they create one HUGE disadvantage. Finishing Your Flare Due to the canopy (links, guide ring) being closer to you, you have to flare that much farther on the bottom end, but due to you having short arms you can't reach that far. So to fix the issue of not having long enough arms to finish the flare girls like us have to go with longer risers to make up the difference. Personally I jump with 20inch risers and have no problems reaching the slider to collapse it and pull it down to stow it behind my head. So for comparison my arms (shoulder to wrist) are 20 inches. I've used 18s and had problems with flaring, used 22s and had to climb the risers to collapse the slider. Kelli btw....one of the reasons you might have been having trouble reaching the slider and toggles is because the student gear (main lift web, legstraps) was to big for you and they might have had the 22 inch risers. Actually I voted that I would quit if it ever happened, the only time it might be maybe is if it was due to me being knocked out in freefall. For me personally, if I hear my audible and haven't already turned to track or was in the process of it I mentally kick myself, because for me that is a form of loosing altitude awareness. If I start having a string of jumps (even just 2, depending on other factors) where that happens I quit for the day, because that is the 1st step for me to making bigger mistakes with altitude awareness. I'm 5'1 and 105 lbs, I wear about 8 lbs on every jump, I used to wear a weight vest but have since gone to a weight belt, much more comfortable and puts the weight where you need it most. The biggest thing is flexability though, you need to be able to get a strech in your upper theighs and hips. This will help you when you end up jumping with the big boys or if you need to sink into a formation. I agree with Kris, talk to Britney she doesn't (or she didn't anyway)do alot of belly flying but she does some. Also talk to Cyndi (tequilagirl), she is on the turkey hunters (or something like that) 16 way team, and last but not least Larry Hinson, he knows how I fly and maybe can give you some pointers about what I used to do. Although he will probably just say that one day I relaxed and no one could keep up with me anymore. Kelli Fly it like you stole it!

Collegiate Skydiving and a Military Academy

After seeing what their 1st jump program is I'm very very thankful I had a different option. Those kids that go threw it every year are definitely a special breed. Fly it like you stole it! -

Well, Derek can explain it better than me, but the ground speed is much slower, your recovery arc is shorter, your canopy will have a lot more flare. Basically though you won't have any problems flying at sea level, but you may have to take a jump or 2 to readjust to the higher altitude when you get back home. If you are down at Canon this weekend talk to Derek about it, or if you are at Mile Hi talk to Paul and Melibe since they just got back from LA (the state not the city ) Fly it like you stole it!

x-fire1 (not on mod list) 104 & x-fire2 108 Both have very soft openings. I usually am dumping in a track so it opens on heading or with a 90 to the right (probably due to how I'm sitting in the harness). I've had line twists once in almost 200 jumps and it was more than likely due to dipping a shoulder since it was my 1st jump in CO and the opening felt odd so I looked. (opening at 8000MSL is very different than sea level 2,500ft) Evened out the links and easily kicked out of the twists. The canopy is much more reliable than my stiletto which tends to snivel *WACK* compared to my crossfire which is snivel *AHHHHH*, Also even at my light loading of 1.2 I never have closed end cells or anything else odd happen on opening. I agree, Friday hurt like hell. A girl I skydive with is on the CU Snowboarding team so she gave me private lessons on Sunday, by run 3 I was crusing all over the mountain. It doesn't even really hurt when you are going fast, well unless you wipe out, but I must say catwalks suck big ones. I'm so stoked though, 1st weekend snowboarding and I've already advanced to the "easier" blues. Derek on the other hand is a frigging natural, 1st day out he did 5 runs and is cruising all over the damn place. If you are going to go again I highly recommend lessons. They teach you all about stability and stuff (or melibe did anyway), once I got it figured out I realized it's alot like harness shifting. If you are getting boots I recommend Salomon Ivy. I got a pair on sale from REI and they are so comfy, well other than the fact that they are snowboarding boots and not suppose to be really comfy Fly it like you stole it!

That's why I'm planning on relining my 97 with vectran. Plus that would put all the canopies in our house with vectran, which makes life easier when doing repairs. Fly it like you stole it!
