  1. I know of one DZ that has a sabre 150 as a student/rental rig. I'm not willing to bet money that it couldn't be fired. Heck Derek can fire an expert under his 60. Fly it like you stole it!
  2. I think the reason DZs are using expert rather than student, has nothing to do with students using them and more with the fact that they also use those rigs as rentals where the jumper could be doing things under canopy that might cause it to fire. Remember when it comes to DZs $$ comes 1st in decisions. Fly it like you stole it!
  3. Yep he has a V304, but he has already made up his mind to get a mirage. They already make the MZS, and there are several other things about mine he likes better than his. He was going to buy one in Eloy from the swiss team, but after they lied to him about jumps on it (told him there were ~10 and it was obvious there were ~200) he didn't want to deal with them. 4. I do have to say that my reserve pilot chute lauches farther than any of the other ones that Derek packs. Every packjob we have the person (or me if they just dropped it off) stand at the patio door (facing the door ofcourse ) and pull the ripcord Derek stands in the kitchen and "catches" the pilot chute. Everytime mine gets to bridle strech before it starts heading for the floor. Only other container that did that was my reflex. The others don't make it to bridle strech and he has to run and catch them before the pilot chute hits the floor. Derek has a micron, and while everything about it is as good as the mirage he wishes he could get a mirage reserve pilotchute for it (he isn't real keen on the meshless thing). Well that and they made a smaller main container. The only other container I've seen that looked good from the outside to me was the talon FS. One hasn't come threw for a repack yet so I can't say anything about the reserve, but I'm 99% sure it's the same as the talon 2. Of course my requirements for a container are an unexposed pilot chute, main pin protection like the above containers have, seconday riser covers (although I don't think the FS has them), "bullet proof" reserve pin protection. and integrated main bridle protection (sorry but jav's still looks like an after thought). I also really like how the main side flaps wrap around the bottom of the container keeping everything inside. On larger Jav's I've seen them not fit quite right and the main lines are coming out the side/bottom. Of course this is my opinion, so YMMV. Fly it like you stole it!
  5. yeah I charge $17 for mine which is a hemp necklace with 4-6 beads and a closing pin. Depending on the beads. From there the more beads or special beads it goes up. I also give discounts of $2 for people who don't want closing pins and want a charm instead. So both Pam's and Freaksis' prices are right in line with the cost of materials. Fly it like you stole it!
  6. You know I don't see anywhere the one simple thing that could have prevented the dog from being killed in this thread. TRAINING My dog will not get out of the car unless told to, will get in the car when told to, will sit when told to, will stay when told to. Any and all of those 4 things would have prevented the death of that dog. Who is responsible for the shooting?? The cop - yes....he shot it, wether he over reacted, I don't know The owners - yes....Proper training would have kept the dog in the car. Fly it like you stole it!
  7. Yep my vote is also for the canon S900, combined with our HP scanjet 3570. We are able to scan film and slides then print them out up to an 8 1/2 X 11 (printer can print to the edge). Use high quality paper and your prints should last along time. I have several that are about a year old that look as good as the day I printed them. Fly it like you stole it!
  8. Nope they are an option, Derek just ordered a new set for his container and had to pull the inserts out of the old pair, which he also put in after market, except he put mirage inserts in instead of vector since that is what he had on hand. I think mirage comes standard with them since they came with my container and I didn't ask for them. Also if you have a Jav, look to make sure they are tacked into the sleeve. When they 1st came out they weren't and Derek had seen one that had slid out and threw the loop of the 3-rings....if they would have cut away the riser wouldn't have detached since the tube was threw the loop. 9. You should try it before you comment, it is a very comfortable canopy at low wingloading. Breaths A LOT less than other "open nosed" canopies I've jumped at higher wingloadings. Personally I prefer the flatter glide angle of a 9 over a 7, I'm making it back from spots most people don't. Also the openings can't be beat by any other canopy I've jumped, that is quite a few now. Actually only non-crossbrased elliptical I haven't tried is the nitron and that is only cause PA never returned my email or call about getting a demo. Fly it like you stole it!
  10. heather, I have a new one...it was ordered like 3 months ago for someone who never showed back up at the DZ to pay for it, so I got it cheep....we have been thinking of sending it back since I have some down time with my broken wrist. Maybe it just needs a new/different visor. Fly it like you stole it!
  11. I have an MXS and had a crossfire 116 in it which actually packs up bigger than a cobalt 120. It was a pretty tight fit, but I had no really issues getting the canopy in the D-bag, it was brand new and the really slippery ZP. It took some work and careful packing but it wasn't that big of a deal. Also when closed off the container looked just fine, nothing was showing from under the main pin cover and I had a pretty long closing loop for a mirage. I now have a crossfire 104 in it which packs closer to a 120 and it's a breeze to get in the container. I have also had a stiletto 97 in it, and that was fairly loose...I wouldn't go down to an 89 stiletto with it, but I'm pretty sure an 89 crossfire would still fit ok. Probably way more than you wanted to know. Fly it like you stole it!
  12. I agree my stiletto 97 @ 1.3 breaths alot more than my crossfire 104 @ 1.3 (WL aided with lead). I've seen landing from the front of both...it really surprised me with the stiletto since it is a smaller canopy, but then again the closed off nose on the crossfire might have something to do with it. *shrug* Fly it like you stole it!
  13. I have a Z1 with about 5 jumps on it....it whistles/screams so loudly I keep thinking the hounds of hell are after me. Have yet to find the cause though...I'm guessing it's the face shield. Tried the boomerang last summer and if you have a small head don't bother the shell is HUGE, my motorcycle helmet is smaller I swear. Fly it like you stole it!
  14. I was not giving out kisses new year's eve...that is a vicious rumor. Fly it like you stole it!
  15. I agree with the Don part, I do not agree with the madolyn part, since she stated to our face that there is nothing the USPA can do to inforce BSRs Fly it like you stole it!
  16. Started getting a sore throat yesterday, and I slept most of friday. I'm feeling better today though, the vote for my sickness is drinking to much, staying up to late, and sleeping in a tent. Fly it like you stole it!

    ELOY numbers

0 jumps due to broken wrist, although we did bring out the NASA scissors several times with plans of cutting the cast off. 5 nights - ~50 coronas and misc other stuff consumed.....dead soldiers every where Saw hook drunk for the 1st time ever and I've known him about 3 years. He's a cute goofy drunk btw... 1 = number of nights I was cold in the tent...love my tiny tent and sleeping bag. 500 less $$$ spent since I couldn't jump Fly it like you stole it!
  18. My Crossfire 104 packs up about the same size as a Stiletto 120. Or I should say my 104 fits perfectly in my container made for a 120. So I think a good rule of thumb is go up one canopy size for pack volume. So a 129 which is closest to a 135 would pack about like a 150, give or take. On the other hand I use to have a crossfire 116 and was putting it in the same container I use now, it was a bitch, but I was able to do it. Container is a mirage MXS. Fly it like you stole it!
  19. I jump a crossfire1 @ 1.2-1.3 and a stiletto 97 @ 1.3 haven't had any problems with either other than the stiletto tends to open with closed endcells (it needs a new lineset though). Out of the 2 canopies though I prefer the crossfire, just get much softer openings. I've jumped the crossfire at both sea level and 6200ft, landings and openings at both altitudes haven't been an issue. Fly it like you stole it!

  21. Denver Colorado Springs I think it has more to do with the fact that you can't spit and not hit someone working out in the area, I know my own workout regimine has double just from moving here. I do a lot more hiking, biking, climbing, snow sports, although I also do a lot less skydiving Fly it like you stole it!
