Eugene skydivers in oregon do a chute, scoot and shoot or some variation of that for a boogie every year. last year it was a GI joe boogie, off DZ landing from 4 k , shuck your rig go to 3 different stations ending up at the shooting station with a glock and two clips. good fun, although we weren't allowed to jump with the weapons you could supply your own weapon if you wanted to. check it. blue skies jerry

You can't jump if you ain't there or play grab ass with all your buds. Go to the DZ what the hell are you thinking. blues jerry

Congratulations I'm coming up on 1 year this week, the wife said baby if you stop drinking beer I won't complain about you buying skydiveing gear. She keeps her end of the deal and I keep mine. I still buy beer for the firsts that I do. I enjoyed drinking beer, but I don't really miss it. blues jerry

HI Ann, there should be two nuts that hold the bar, 9/16 usually. and to adjust chain tension there should be a slot headed screw which will be inline with the bar. Loosen the two nuts, (but don't take them off) until you can feel a little play in the bar. Turn the slotted screw ccw a few turns,at some point you should be able to move the bar backward and forwards. I usually turn the saw upside down so I can see the chain sprocket and start by putting the chain on the sprocket first. Than I work the chain into the bar and finish up rolling the chain around the nose of the bar. Almost done, to complete the job you must next adjust the chain tension, by turning the slotted screw cw until there is about a 1/4- 1/2 inch play in the chain when you lift up on it in the middle of the bar. than tighten the two nuts. A couple of safety tips. Never straddle the saw , keep it off to the side of your body. Try to keep your work below you waist, once you get the saw above your waist you loose your leverage and kickbacks can be hazardous. blues jerry

Bush isn't sending them off to get killed. He's sending them off to fight terrorists. It's unfortunate that some die, but I'm glad that they are fighting there and not here. I guess guys like Osama Bin Ladin don't count, because last I heard they are not in Iraq. Oh wait, Afghanistan doesn't have a large oil reserve. never mind. blues jerry

Bingo, Fliegendewolf, It is a verizon phone and thats what its doing. I live out in the sticks so I'm not sure I can receive calls out here anyway. blue skies jerry

Student query: BOC/ROL/Chest?
b1jercat replied to timbarrett's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Skydive Oregon is strictly BOC. IMHO anything else is BS. blues jerry -
Wow. Your profile says you're also getting a PD193R in that I-55, which is so far off the published specs I wonder if I'm missing something. VSI says an I-55 will hold a 343 ci reserve, but PD says their 193 has a pack volume of 442 ci, and PIA rates that canopy at 471 ci. VSI says an I-55 will hold a 443 ci main, but PIA says an original Sabre 190 takes up 500 ci, and even a Spectre 190 takes 475ci. Am I missing something? Is there that much variation in container and canopy sizes? Is this just a testament to how tight you and your rigger are willing to pack? thanks, Spencer Spencer, when I looked into buying the container I called VSE and spoke to kelly and told him what I wanted to do, his reply was Quote " thats what its made for". I personally don't believe you'd want to go any bigger in that container, from what I understand the reserve is snug, but ok by whatever standard riggers go by. The main is snug also compared to say a Javelin JK5 with the same canopy. IIRC when they measure container volume they use strait lines which leaves a little bit of a fudge factor because the container is somewhat rounded. I have never seen a hard number for the saber2 and I don't know if its the same as the original saber. I would advise anyone making canopy or container choices to consult with the manufacturer before buying. blue skies jerry I do know I could drop to a 170 no problem in my container.
