No I do remember...And the one time I forgot...I did a BASE jump. No, I think Tandem is a GREAT thing for this sport. I just don't think Tandem progression is that good of a method. But I have seen several versions of it...from, I guess you guys do two? To 4 Tandems. And I NEVER said that...Hell, I have a tandem rating. I think it is a good thing for the sport. I personally think everyone should do one tandem, then go AFF, or SL. And I agree...Its not the tandem jump, but sometimes the reason that people go Tandem. You should have intended it...It was damn funny. Oh I agree...Students are passed WAY to fast today. But If my program was 20 jumps...and yours was only 7...I bet some people would go to you thinking its "better" Or the AFF guy is dependant on two guys saving his life? You got me all wrong.... I don't want dependent skydivers. However, you can jump whatever canopy you want....AFTER you have shown the skill to handle it. If a guy with 100 jumps has shown that he has the knowledge,skill and maturity to handle a 1.9 loaded X braced pocket rocket...Cool. What is this in relation to? I am not paraniod about small canopies...I had an 88 before the FX was released, and did several jumps on the 69, when there were only 3 or so that small. I have 2,000 jumps on a ST107. I just think people should not be allowed to do whatever they please, until they can prove it. And in this case, I think the Tandem progression brings people into the sport that would not any other way...And I don't really think that is a good thing. So in what way am I canopy paraniod? The point you seem to be missing is...That you may not have that choice. I had to land a 113 in a VERY small field with the approach being 120 foot trees on one side of the road, and power lines on the other side. A building with power lines on my right, and my left was 50 foot trees. About 30-40 feet from the road was a large pile of wood, and right after that was another building with phone lines running from my right and cutting accross the front to the back of the building. Well if anyone passes me in freefall, they will get a talk. However HD is much more likley to cause this situation. 1. A HD guy that is not HD, but tracking all over will cover more area than new RW guy will back slide. 2. It is harder to maintain "Line of flight" doing HD while you are learning than being flat. With these two it makes it much easier for a new HD guy to cover the distance between the groups. But its bad juju anyway. I have 6 rides.... The plan I have is VERY simple. I cutaway...As soon as I FEEL myself fall away and SEE both risers release. I roll belly to relative wind (NOT belly to earth), and pull the reserve. I "cat" roll, not arch to get stable. I twist to get this way, I don't wait to get stable....Way too many craters are made waiting to get stable. This takes around one second. PD113 at 1.6. I have six rides on this. I had dive loops on my reserve risers for 4 of the rides. It hooked ok. Cutaway at 600ish feet it opened great. Straight in it flew very well. My last cut away I had a braked approach to put me in a VERY tight area in DeLand. At around 50 feet I slowly let it fly, and got a very nice swoop to a stand up about 5 feet from a large pile of wood. I love my PD reserve.
