I have the reserve, so am going for the reserve but having a line over on a reserve and cutting the wrong line? nice. There is a very old thread here of somebody doing tests with line overs using the hook knife to cut the line and he said that in the test a couple of times he cut the wrong line, good thing he still had a reserve (he was using a cutaway rig or was trying it in a hanging harnes, cant remember). Anyways whatever I say here about that situation might be BS because nobody has an idea on how he/she will act in given situation. You can still cut the wrong lines and have a steerable canopy. we should have the intervention of Bill here or informed Moderator to clear this up and give a proper account of cutting the wrong line, finding the right one, just a general procedure would be good. Any CRW people would know this already.

Reserve lineover, What will you do?
TattooedMoFo replied to drenaline's topic in Safety and Training
On this part of a reply here lack of understanding of when to use your knife is apparent. You don't use a hook knife to cut a line on a line over on a main, you chop it. A hook knife is only used when you have a problem on a main reserve, like a line over ( okay i know excluding before anyone says it, cutting a riser or something of the sort on a main, after you have cut away but you still have your main dangling above you) -
UK Jumpers: I have a question
TattooedMoFo replied to AggieDave's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi Aggie in contridiction o this recommendation of Headcorn, from personal experiance, avoid this dropzone for this type of continuation your student has to do. I came back from the states qualified with my A license, had my own rig etc etc and still they wantd me to fork out to repeat another level and some other crap, even though i was current by a week, it was a BPA recommended DZ (Sebastian), never failed a level, did Skydive U, they are just full of shit, so don't go there. The place I would recommend is Sibson Parachutre Centre, great place and will help him out, as i have seen them do with other students in a similar position. -
Not sure about USPA, but BPA rules states it's madatory to have a knife before boarding a plane.
-
That could definitely be the start of a cool back piece....
-
PS: make reaching for your knife part of your emergency drills, and don't keep changing the location of your knife either...eg on your leg, then your chest strap etc..
-
Makes no difference where you have it, as long as it is accessible with both hands. Agree with Kris, try avoid using the plastice ones if possible, you never know when you will need it and for waht situation.

One thing you gfuys are doing wrong here in some of your thoughts and suggestions is "thinking to much". Just relax and let it happen naturally don't think about it ( thanks Max),the more you try force the position, think about what your amrs should be doing at a specfic time while your legs are doing something else, will just make it that little more difficult. Relax while doing this, it will come. SunnyDee another exit you could try if the plane has a rail on the out side is get out of the plane face the prop and and just fall off to the side. As you fall get into what you think your body postion should be, legs out straight to the side arms nice and relaxed. Is a very simple method as well. Remember you are looking for simplicity in starting off, not some thing difficult that makes you try remember a 100 and one things while learning, have fun, smile, breath and just relax. Thaks SSbc99 for your 90degree turn, mention that you made, very important and I should have included that, cheers.

Easiest solo exit to get into a headdown postion, is dependant on what plane you are getting out of. For side door exits, hold on to rail (if it's inside), crouch in the door with your back to the wind. Step off into a almost flat body position, tilt your head back slightly as you are falling (watch the plane) and let your body fall into a head down position with the help of the relative wind pushing you downwards. May sound a little complicated but it's not and you aren't trying to fly into a HD position because your body will fall into this naturally. Might take a little getting used to but like i said is a very easy exit to use on your own.

Update: as some of you may of read the "Need help from US people" thread, anyone who is selling gear in the UK watch out. A few people have emailed me now and have had the same types of emails from different people asking them exactly the same thing. Buying their rig , transferring the money and asking for money back. Damon Gant was the most common name on this. Beware this is a SCAM.

I wouldn't give out those details anyway, not to someone i havn't met and a need to trust on a financial basis like this. And yes there are already other possibly interested parties.

Well he said he is here in the UK now, so i'll take him to a DZ and let him test jump the Eliptical canopy and if he makes it down in 1 piece with his cash in hand then it's his....lol
