Perris isnt' too far; we get a lot of people from 29 palms out there, and you can be as uber conservative as you like - the landing area is close to 500 acres. Elsinore is a little more scenic and a smaller 'family' vibe, but it's about 20 minutes farther from you. I've got a Tri and I love it. It was my first canopy off student status, and she's really sweet to me. I've been unable to pack any hard openings but I have had excessive snivels. On mine, if I do _ANYTHING_ to the nose (roll, push in, whatever) it opens REALLY slowly; if I just let it hang, it opens slowly but nicely. The only slammer I got was a hop-n-pop from 13k which gave me a hell of a wedgie, but I also had my leg straps a touch too loose. I sent mine in and had the 4.0 line upgrade done on it, and they put on a larger slider for free, which I think helped the openings a lot... I had a problem with off-heading openings, but since I've been free-stowing the lines I haven't had more than a 10 degree turn on opening, which is nice, and as a bonus I can sink this baby straight in all the way down in brakes, and she's rock-steady. I bought my reserve with two jumps on it. I saved about $400, and if it's opened twice before, it's more likely to open again, I figure. Seriously, just have a rigger inspect it thoroughly and you're good. I've heard it's the repacks that wear out reserves more than the uses, so I think the real question is how many repacks has it had, and does it have all the required service bulletins done to it. I got nauseous a little on my first two (tandem) jumps, and so I took dramamine while on AFF, but never had a problem, and then stopped taking the dramamine and still no problems.. I had really bad linetwists a few jumps ago and got kinda dizzy kicking them out (had plenty of altitude and was flying straight), but no nausea. Jim Wallace told me that the 'sea band' wristbands work really really well for tandem students, so if you're nervous, that's probably a good way to go since it doesn't have the nasty sideeffects of Dramamine... 7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth

...Bought 10 cases of beer (and assorted mixed drinks), jumped the biplane, got my first kiss pass, learned how _not_ to do a reverse rodeo, showed Phreezone and Chasing Blue Sky what a REAL screwdriver tastes like (and how to mix one in a pitcher), got smacked in the head trying to hold on to an inflatable alligator (repeatedly), became a muff brother (#3345), flew a BigAir Sportz kite, partied like a Czar with SkymonkeyONE (I swear that stuff in the jar was syphoned out of one of the casa's), started free-stowing the lines on my main (or should I say, Phree-stowing them?), got drunk and missed my Rodriguez brothers' initiation , did golf cart CRW, started the Seven Cell Posse (Represent!), stood up every landing (ok, except for one that was more like a slider), introduced HeatherB to the RW-Grip-of-Death(tm), and met a lot of really great dot-communists that I hope to do a lot more jumps with in the future. Oh, and I kept anyone from sleeping in tent city on Monday night . All in all, the best time imaginable... I can't wait for the next one! In fact, the only real bummer was yesterday, when I went to Perris and did some jumps, I found a WFFC jump ticket stuck in my logbook that I didn't know was there. I did notice that at least while I was there, they were on a run rate to go through 200 kegs of the 'free' beer, which doesn't count all the beer and alcohol I (and everyone else) bought. One of the organizers told me that they were going through 7,000-10,000 jello shots a night. Cutaways? I saw a bunch of them, more than I'd ever seen in one place before, that's for sure. I zero mine before every jump (weather systems here will sometimes produce dramatic changes in barometric pressure which lead to off readings) and turn it on before boarding the plane, and leave it on until I land. 7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth
