    See what happens when you make relatively safe drugs illegal? You don't keep people from screwing themselves up, you just make them find alternative (and apparently more dangerous) ways to do it. The local hospitals are flooded every year with people eating jimson weed to get high. Those people seriously f--- themselves up, let me tell ya.     Mindwarps are OK; full face helmets are quieter overall. Most people can wear foam earplugs in freefall (and on the plane, which is even more important), which cuts down the noise a lot more than a helmet by itself will.     Sadly, although this is one of the principals our country was founded on, it's no longer always true. The order, which was originally supposed to apply only to 'foreign nationals' was almost immediately used against at least two US citizens. This is the sort of erosion of freedom that will eventually turn us into a police state, and the terrorists will have won.     While you're at it, why not require a 2/3rds majority vote of the state to create or raise any new taxes or fees? The right way to pay for this sort of thing is a usage fee - but the car tax goes into the general fund which lets the state waste it as they see fit - and that's not cool. It also hits you based on the value of your car and not how much you use it, which is inequitable. Make the car tax $0 - then pay for highway maintenace through a gasoline tax. That way, the people who want to drive gas-sucking giant trucks empty down the freeway at 100MPH can pay their fair share, and people who drive less, pay less.     Sendmail has been secured quite a bit over the years, but have you looked at the source? Buffer overflows are not really a surprise, it's still a mess in there. Which is why smaller, simpler MTAs are getting so popular. Sendmail is very robust, but easy to misconfigure, and yes, it's prone to buffer overflows and other security problems. There are more secure MTAs out there now, so IMHO, Sendmail is kind of obsolete.
