  1. It took seeing a master rigger close a Racer to see that no matter how much muscle that you put in trying to pull the bottom flap grommet over a T Bodkin its just going to cause frustration until you use a pull up cord to help pull and lift it onto the grommet. Someone tried to tell me to use the pull up cord through the T Bodkin and all that made me do was pull it close but never over the top of the bodkin. The trick is to take a pull up cord just through the grommet and then pull it up and over to get the flaps easier to control. I'm getting an entire pile of things that are only used on Racers in my rigging box. Hemostats, Ghost loops, extra pull up cords, T Bodkins, etc. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  2. It does not work that way. The commands that are being sent to the camera are located in the controller unit. You need a Hypeye to be able to send the commands to the newer camera styles. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  3. Check the trim of the canopies. Odds are they have several hundred jumps on the canopies with out a reline and are out of trim. couple uneven trim on the canopies and other factors and you have the start of issues. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  4. On my inspection sheets that I give my customers I will tend to write the pull force down so that I have a check that its within limits if there was any question. Packing a Racer or Reflex is really a crap shoot since the force can be adjusted at anytime after it leaves my hands. On this note does anyone have a better scale option then a fish scale? 7. The one in ATL is really nice on the inside too, its got a great view of the airport and downtown. If they had built one in Deland i doubt it would have been over 125 feet, but the one in ATL overlooks a nice empty tarmac where they put the BA planes while waiting on gates to open so its a nice landing area Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

  11. The Battery is longer then that now. The Manual, the website and the FAQ all have different times on them but the site has a note that the battery is good for 10 years at max and at min you need to change it when it tells you to. 14. How about tandem AAD's? With out having every instructor in the plane move around to turn off the other AAD's how would you get those units to cycle? Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  15. A lot of this can be the conditions leading up to the jump. Tandem harness if incorrectly adjusted will actually cut off blood flow to parts of the body and that can lead to sickness. Also what type of plane were you jumping from? I have seen people that get motion sick due to the airplane ride in some of the smaller Cessna 182/206 planes. 16. Want to see something about MAB? Create these folders on drive: c:\Program Files\AntivirusPro_2010 c:\Program Files\AntivirusPro_2010\data And then create either of these registry keys: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AntivirusPro_2010 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\extra antivir It will report your system is infected with a virus even though all you did was create folders/empty keys. They use file/folder detection to get inflated detection numbers off a system in some cases. Most other AV systems will skip over this since its not really malware. 17. I can list a ton of enterprises that are not allowing outside browsers in their environments and actively remove them I know there are 2-3 people on these forums that are really plugged into the security sector and dealing with some of the largest names in the world for their security platforms. I deal in this area every day and the one thing that is driving the larger players is the demand for the deeper central management and reporting behind things like SEP 11 and ePO 4.5. The reporting and automation requirements are even being requested and utilized by companies as small as a couple of hundred nodes, its a basic requirement for every RFP/RFI I have seen. For home users having the ability to automatically send and SNMB messages to a trap on the network for automatic notification for any malware detection is something they would never use but for enterprise usage its critical. They really are targeting two different markets with their products. Its the same thing with Symantec and McAfee. They both have consumer products and enterprise products and have different feature sets in between them. Right now the MS product and a lot of the other players are offering up a great consumer product for someone looking to protect their home computer but once you start getting to more then a few dozen systems you need the reporting to make sure things are updated and if they are detecting anything. FEP (Forefront) is due out in Q3/Q4 this year but its still missing a ton of the basic items that even some of the niche players have in their product sets already so the only ones that will be jumping on that one are the ones looking to get it for free as part of their site license from Microsoft. 18. I was talking to someone and they were telling me about an event over the last few days where on a dropzone in California they experienced 2 AAD's in Student mode that fired on the plane decent since they were unable to get to altitude with their students. I guess there were 2 makes of AAD's on the airplane and only the one type activated and the other did not. I don't know what mode the other AAD was in so its possibly not an apples to apples comparison of AAD's. The question that I have for everyone is if you are riding the plane down do you turn the AAD's off on your students or other jumpers? I know this is not typical practice since most jumpers have their AAD's in Expert mode which needs a faster decent then the student mode to trigger but I am not sure about Student mode since that tends to be used less frequently. 19. In the enterprise... not really. In the home space, partially. MSE has no central reporting abilities, no manageability or anything else that the enterprise space has came to expect out of a product for the last 8 years. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

  21. $90 has a lot more going on then just making the skydive. To get the upper end of the pay you are looking at doing the HandCam video and packing each jump also. The average pay is closer to $35-40 for just a skydive and then you add additional income if you add more things such as like $12-15 for the pack job and then other 30-40 for Handcam video and editing it. Doing the handcam or the packing sometimes means you are not doing 10-15 jumps a day but instead only 6-10 since you are now needing to edit and pack also so that involves ground time. 22. The charts do not list a 135 for a M5. The M5 when it says "soft" is really soft and the closing loop is as short as it goes. Get used gear to get started. You are using rentals right? Those are used rigs If a rigger inspects the gear and its found to be in good condition then there is no reason not to get used gear.
