  6. At Symposium 2001, I asked Bill Morrisey (Strong - at the time), TK Donle (Relative Workshop - at the time) and Bill Booth (nuff said) about that exit. Each of them said it was an easy way to exit a ramp aircraft, and it was recommended by all of them. One caveat thrown in by Bill Morrissey was " . . . if you have a rig that stays closed." Obviously a premature main container opening would be a disaster in the middle of this exit. This is not intended to be argumentative; everyone has their personal preferences for exits, etc. That exit, "370 backloop," cheetah flip," or "froot loop" is my favorite ramp exit. I have done it from Casa 212s, C-130s and C-23b Sherpas. I discontinued that exit from the Sherpa - because of my size and having to crouch on the edge of the ramp, I have difficulty getting out far enough to be comfortably clear of the trail edge of the floor. Also important to note is that I had done a bazillion solo 370 backloop exits prior to trying it with a tandem, and the student I tried it with the first time had made two tandems with me earlier in the day. For me, it's about control. I can do a controlled Superman, poised, or 370 backloop exit from a ramp. I don't do front loops out of anything, or 370 backloops out of side dorr aircraft, because (IMHO) they are too difficult to control. Back to Symposium 2001: Bill Morrisey commented that they discourage front loops because they are too difficult to recover. Thanks for your great posts, Rob . . . I learn a lot from you. 7. It's the opposite of "Field Of Dreams." IF YOU COME. WE'LL BUILD IT!
  8. Thanks. I like you already! As far as the record goes, we obviously have at least a full otter load. A note for those of you who say "my belly-flying skills suck" (humble humble, etc. etc.) and don't think you can be a part of a record: Please leave that at home. Our organizer(s) will of course plan a safe dive, into which experience level will play some part. Otherwise it's not a political deal. Bring your breakthrough attitude, have fun like the rest of us, and you'll be in there! Arrive Safely John
  9. Pammi . . . I PM'd you my phone number. Call me about your kids!! John Arrive Safely John

  12. OK . . . my personal and professional schedules are very erratic right now, but my plan is: -Friday night beers at Aviator's with Monica in tow. -Saturday skydiving with y'all. I will hang around for a quick beer then I gotta head home. -Skydiving part of Sunday afternoon. More players: there are some lads at work that are semi-regulars at Raeford. Some are registered here but have not posted. I will fix that tomorrow. Is there anybody in the list above that can shoot good video AND stills of our inevitable record-breaker?? Arrive Safely John
  13. Damn! And I thought I had seen it all. I've got to go now . . . I'm heading outside to look for flying pigs! Arrive Safely John
  14. I don't know anything about the politics invilved in this decision, and I choose not to engage in that part of this thread. I will say that I did two demo jump there in 1992 and I'm sorry to see it go. It was a thrill exiting way out over Lake Michigan, with Soldier Field in sight during free fall. I was told by a local that Meigs was built on the rubble from the Chicago fire that happened in the mid-1800's. It was always a special jump memory for me. Arrive Safely John

  21. When I was in college it was a "Cruddy Buddy." One would gain access through devious means (no B&E) to someone's room, normally of the opposite sex, and steal all of their underwear. You would then bang on random doors all over the dorm, announce you are on a Cruddy Buddy mission, and leave a pair of the bloomers in the strangers' care. You would then deliver a note to the one whose drawers you pilfered, along with a list of room numbers, and sign it "Cruddy Buddy." The owner would then have two choices: 1) buy all new underwear, or 2) bang on all the doors and retrieve their skivvies. Poor college students always chose option #2. Cruddy Buddy's happened all the time; we seemed to always have a pair of undies hanging from our TV antenna. Arrive Safely John

  23. In my limited experience with LOs I have never paid one. I was under the impression that the DZO paid the LOs for their services to keep the customers jumping. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem kicking in a buck for a talented organizer that puts together fun, interesting skydives. Arrive Safely John
  24. Glad you're still with us, Dave . . . live and learn - literally! I acknowledge you for sharing your experience here in the forums so others might learn from it. Arrive Safely John
