Since you haven't seen it yourself, you may want to take an eyewitness with you to support your cause. That way the information hasn't become inaccurate after being passed from person to person. Arrive Safely John

The Chief Instructor and DZO need to know about this. You being interruptive by letting them know this guy is executing dangerous maneuvers might save his life or the life of someone else in the pattern or on the ground. Let them know soon. Arrive Safely John

Anyone with a USPA Coach Rating can take the course. "There is no requirement to attend this course. USPA encourages all coaches and instructors interested in improving their training and evaluation skills to participate in one of the upcoming courses, even if they do not wish to become a course director. " As far as preparing graduates for a Course Directorship: "Completion of this course serves as an alternate requirement to have three years experience as an instructor before becoming a course director." FYI the BIC used to be a prerequisite to the Jumpmaster Certification Course under the old USPA rating system. I'm sure a lot of the content is the same; some of it really works well. I am told that Rob Laidlaw is the Course Director . . . he is a registered dotcommer ("sdu"), but hasn't logged on in almost three years so PMs are a poor way to contact him. His email address is rob@skydiveu.com. I sent him an email to ask the content question. I'll post the results when I get a reply. Arrive Safely John

From the Safety & Training Newsletter dated 18 August, 2004: That answers your question about requirements, but unfortunately says nothing about the course content. The first one I see on the schedule is in 08 - 11 January 2005 in DeLand: Arrive Safely John

Relative Workshop Tandem Rating Candidates?

Edited for the latest correction. I am NOT going at all now. Too many unknowns for me to drive down tomorrow. DeLand's Otter and Skyvan are at Raeford riding out the storm. Arrive Safely John -

USPA Awards - Options to Consider
slotperfect replied to BIGUN's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I am all about tradition. I say keep the awards as they are and charge a reasonable price for each one. I have a collection starded already, up to DDW & 48Hr Badge. I'd like to see them continue for myself, others like me wo already have the momentum started, and those who have yet to earn theirs. Arrive Safely John -
Relative Workshop Tandem Rating Candidates?
slotperfect replied to efs4ever's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I just talked to Mark Procos (Friday, 4:14 EDT). He says he will carry on with whoever shows on Tuesday. He knows of people already on their way. I will look at the weather Sunday afternoon and decide whether I am driving or flying. Arrive Safely John -

Sunday is not the day to have a flight scheduled . . . Check this out Arrive Safely John -
Unless there are other related medical issues, I would gladly take this person on a tandem. The decision to teach him solo free fall would take careful consideration between his doctor and the DZO/Skydiving School Owner. Arrive Safely John

Relative Workshop Tandem Rating Candidates?
slotperfect replied to efs4ever's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I shifted my travel plans to Monday because of the hurricane. Relative Workshop (and all of the other parachute manufacturers, I was told) was closed today to allow people to prepare for the storm. I plan on calling Mark Procos tomorrow to get an update on the TME Course based on the weather. I will post the result sof that conversation here. Arrive Safely John -

One lady I go to Church with got pulled over on the highway outside my neighborhood. She told him "I'm sorry, I'm having a really bad morning. I speed through here all the time . . . could you just give me a ticket another day?" The cop laughed, and let her off with a warning. Arrive Safely John

Relative Workshop Tandem Rating Candidates?
slotperfect replied to efs4ever's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
True! I will be there on Sunday the 5th. Mark shifted the course one day to the right to accomodate those who wanted to use Labor Day Monday for other things. Because my travel schedule is already set, I will be visiting friends on Monday, and apparently making a few new ones! Arrive Safely John -

I have read enough inconsistencies to ship my gear wherever I go. It's worth the expense for the peace of mind that it's gonna arrive on time and intact, as well as the insurance. Arrive Safely John

He just needs to talk to his Doc about it . . . mentioning that he will be in unpressurized flight up to 13000 FT (or whatever altitude the DZ he chooses flies to). Arrive Safely John

My reserve is currently a PD176R, and my main is a Sabre2 190. I have ordered a Stiletto 170, at which time my main & reserve will be dead even in size. I think most people's reserve is smaller than their main. Arrive Safely John

Thanks for the nice compliment! I continue to stay open minded and try to improve my skills nearly every jump. This course has been one of my goals for a while now. You're safe . . . we didn't see your "arrival" video. Arrive Safely John -
