  1. how were the openings? and did it fly like it was a katana? if those two seem ok then why wouldn't they release it?
  2. there are alot of good rigs out there, mirage rigs are just one of them. the g3 is a fantastic rig, so is the g4. but if i bought another mirage, I would buy a g3. just because it is as good as a g4 but cheaper. whatever you decide to do, defiantly check out skydive the farm when your down here. It is growing fast.
  3. *AggieDave looks down at his gut and grunts* I guess I'll go ahead and just buy a Velo 96 and load it 2.91:1 Or stick with my XF2 loading that out in larger sizes. Or just go Xbraced, which is looking like a serious option. thats my point. go crossbraced.
  4. this is speculation, so take it as such. P.D. will never release a Katana above the size that is out now, for the same reason they will not release the velo any larger. It is an ultra high performance canopy, and If you need one "in there opinion" larger than 120, you don't need that high of a performance parachute. but like I said, this is speculation. lets see if they prove me wrong. the fact that they say, "it is still in R&D" seems like BS to me, but thats just me. but then again, it may be opening problems, and if they tweak it to open properly, it no longer fly's like they think it should.
  5. if you have your log book, filled out by a current AFF instructor and you come to skydive the farm for the rest of your training, I will personally guarantee you get your refresher course at no cost. and if hans slaps me for that, "he won't" I will take care of it myself. just ask hans when the next AFF class is, and come sit in on it.
  6. I wouldn't try that if I were you. if it dives anything like the JVX you would need to be higher.
  7. it will most def. be over water, not sure how jim is wanting to set it up, but I suspect it will be similar, probably deeper out in the water. and yes the gates will be 10 ft, he may be bringing the flags for it though, so it wont be the same course.
  8. you got a slot brie, you can take my word for it if you don't hear from jim. or you can call hans.
  9. yes, that is correct. also the glx is similar to the JVX. if you can ground launch that thing one day and get about 1000 ft, do a hook turn and let me know how it swoops.
  10. line trim is the same. just the canopy material is different. It is made out of "spinnaker material" google it. Im considering getting an 85. might have it this weekend. but then again, I might just order a brand new one if the funds allow it in the future.
  11. I used to think that also, but have since changed my mind. I use it for everything now.
  12. the 2.0 cost another 500 bucks so if you paid 3000 for it instead of 2500 then you do have the 2.0. later you can also put 1500 jumps on the 2.0 and it will still have less "porosity " than a brand new "zero porosity " canopy.
  13. his canopy is smaller than mine, he has an 83, 85 and 87. I think the 87 and the 83 are sold. the 85 is his JVX 2.0.
  14. because there isnt many people jumping them yet. I'm willing to bet if Paul was there on his JVX 2.0 96, you might have seen something different. yes the lines on the JVX were the same as the lines on those velo's. but , my lines ARE STOCK. It was also an 87 square foot canopy, and yes I was loading close to 2.5. I can only fit a MAX 29 lbs in my weight belt, It is only made to hold 25. having experiance on this canopy now, Im going to stand behind the statement that somone with a similar sized JVX loaded similar 2.4-2.5, It would have been a HUGE "by far" difference. probably another 75 feet, and that is me thinking conservative. I think it could be more than that.
  15. Katie, make sure you don't tell chuck I think your HOT!....lol... i'm going to show him that pic this weekend of some random chick I met that looked just like you.
  16. katie, call me when you pass through ATL. Im leaving in the evening. maybe we can take a detour and start the party early.
  17. P.D. stays on top because of the way they have run there business, It is a great skydiving company for just about every skydiver out there, with exception to the pilots that want to be the best of the best. they are lacking in that department by only allowing there sponsored pilots to have the high energy low drag setups. everyone else can only get the stock off the shelf stuff, and is forced to choose aftermarket performance mods. I will make this statement and stand behind it 100%. when it comes to competition swooping, the JVX is the highest performing canopy on the market. I say that without bias of a sponsor, and also have put at least 300 jumps on each crossbraced canopy out there, besides the FX. P.D. will be tough to beat, for plenty of reasons, none of them are "because" of the velocity. although it is a great canopy.
  18. they sure did, but none of them were flying stock velo's.
  19. this is tricky.... because say the riser with your rsl. "assuming you have one" is the only riser that has come loose. you dump your main, then only have the non rsl riser attatched, so now you have a streaming main with an rsl that pulled your reserve... very very dangerous. I would go straight for the reserve if the handle was pulled that far and I had an rsl. if I had no rsl, I would push the cable back in as much as possible, watching altitude, then dump the main and see what happens.
  20. Deserve to stand up there? Yes. They showed up and performed the best. Deserve to get a fat wad of cash? At nationals? Nope. That's not what Nationals is about. so why is the canopy piloting side of nationals with the rest of nationals? why in a public forum? that is if it is "just nationals?"
  21. why do you want them to come out with their canopy? seems like the velocity is still very competitive, i mean: * the distance record is on a velo * the world cup is held by a velo flier * the winner of nationals was on a velo * and the top 3 spots on the PST points board from 2005 are velo fliers. like I said, anyone up for the challenge? yhe JVX is a bad ass wing, a full time pilot underneath it, they will go far this season.
  22. me also, what is it going to take for that to happen? anyone up for the challenge?
