  1. we are your parents and your brothers. and remember, if you're the base, you don't do the docking
  2. i agree with Yoshi....i'm not a canopy expert, but i'd suggest crossfire. I got a safire now with over 400 jumps on it, and my safire is a little tricky to get good flares out of. If you come straight in, don't add speed, the end of the flare is like a sponge. I usually front riser in some way to build speed to land nicely and get a decent swoop. I know several others at my home DZ who ordered a safire around the same time i did and have similar problems. These are safire 1's, made in spring of 2001. I haven't jumped the safire 2, but i've talked to many who have and the 2 doesn't have that common problem as some of the 1's did. I do a little skysurfin as well, all with my safire, no problem. But i do build extra speed to land, even with the board. I've also demoed crossfire's down to a 108, and all around I think it's a better canopy, from my experience. anyone want to buy a safire(1) 139 with about 400 jumps on it? I'll show you how to land it
  3. wal-mart makes a great versatile two-piece suit for like $20 total. Just get a sweatshirt and sweatpants to learn... You can wear tighter pants to learn to sit easier, and just a t-shirt with baggy sweatpants to learn headdown easier. suits are nice and warm, but annoying (to me anyway) to pack when still wearing... I have pants too, which i mostly only wear for headdown dives and are comfy to pack in. if you don't have to pay for it, try to get a sweet 2-piece suit. wish i knew that Santa Claus.
  4. i love this guy. and i am very fortunate... Florida crowd, nice hangin out with you all. CieloMadre, welcome to the brotherhood and be careful in your tent-hopping adventures i'm sure we'll meet in the sky again...

  6. Aw, trevor, man that sucks!!! So sorry! where are you now, still at Raeford? I'm driving from Ohio to CSS this wednesday, and back on sunday, let me know of you need a ride anywhere. seriously.
  7. yes, i'll see you in eloy. last year Kebe helped me a little on the board, he was quite busy with many people wanting to try it at the boogie. He's awesome, good guy. I had a lot of fun chasing him as he led a 12-way track dive on his board out of the skyvan. you'll definately know more than i do about it by the time i get to eloy. most of my board jumps are without coaching. Have fun, be safe! lew
  8. yo chuck, teach me. please. see you in CSS for turkey day? :) lew
  9. i only have about 25 board jumps, but it is quite a new rush the first time you lock your feet in and attempt to control it. I don't have too much experience with it, mostly becuase it is lonely... part of the reason i haven't focussed on it yet is that i'm still excited to freefly with my friends and I haven't mastered headdown by any means yet. So that's my challenge right now. btw, Diva, very nice website and impressive portfolio. how did you get into your business? lew

  12. yeah, thanksgiving at CSS was a great time last year... but i thought i was going to die... in my tent on the first night. It's too cold to tent alone without and electric blanket or heater. And besides, the wind on the tent makes you think the sky is falling... i got up to look outside a few times to make sure my tent and I didn't land in Oz... But the skydiving was great!
  13. yeah, what he (zennie) said you can find an equal, unless you settle for less
  14. so, anyone have any idea how many people are going to be there in total??? we seem to have 60+ from dz.com alone... whatdya think? 200? 300? 400? and what about the aircraft? same as last year? otters, skyvan, kingair, dc-3???
  15. uh-hum... did you call???? yeah. that's what i thought. besides, was it really worth $30, i mean, that's a jump and a half.
  16. ah, but i liked magnolia... the strangeness of this just didn't add up. I do agree with you that it gave Sandler an opportunity to play a bit of a different role, which was nice to see. but the reviews gave it 4 stars, more than any other movie out there, and stated: " Finally, a movie that gets to the heart of Adam Sandler's appeal. This way-offbeat and thoroughly original romantic comedy lights up with wit and compassion." I like to think of myself as somewhat intelligent, i mean, i have an iq of 13 or 14 , but i truly feel it came up short in the "lights up with wit"... i don't buy the hype, but i usually give some credit to printed reviews... to each his own.
  17. this weekend just sucked
  18. bad cinematography bad story line the only humor in it was the movie was SOO bad, you had to laugh sometimes bad Adam Sandler - acting like an idiot as in all his movies, but this time he's not the kind of idiot you laugh with, he's a real idiot, like an iq of 12, who smashes things for no reason, has no life and needs serious psychiatric help, instead he buys pudding. i don't know how the hell it got 4 stars.. there was some pretty colors and loud noises, maybe if you were on acid you might like the constant noise and annoying idiosynchrocies.
  19. by far the WORST movie i've ever seen. i'm angry, i want those 2 hours of my life back.
  20. we know... we know...
  21. skysurfers can deply on their belly with the beginner size board only, for a couple reasons... if you stand on the beginner board, it's so small that your fall rate is 150+, not ideal for deployment-whack. also it's small enough that you can fly it while on your belly and still pitch your pilot chute out far enough. The danger is the chance of your pilot chute going between your legs. On the intermediate and advanced boards (the longer boards), you must deploy in a stand to avoid the possibility of your PC going through your legs, and your fallrate is slow enough becuase the board is bigger. besides, it very difficult to fly a stable belly with that big surface area attached to your feet.
  22. do you have any idea... how much...how much i... i .... um... you know...
