you, like most skydivers, are blunt. She probably can't take hearing that from you just as she can't take the comments and being hit on. If it makes her uncomfortable, maybe she's not used to the attention. She has 2 options, quit, or get used to it. I think just about everyone will say that it happens at their dz as well... there are several posts in the Women Only Forum which have discussed this. It would be a shame to drive off a new female skydiver becuase of this bs, that's the opposite of the guys' intentions... Attention can be good and bad. She must choose how she deals with it. I have told other females new in the sport to figure out where their comfort level is, and stick to it. Some women are comfortable running around half naked, and others get offended at even the mention of boobies... If she makes it clear where her comfort level is, the men at her home dz will likely get to know her and respect that comfort level... after they've pushed to see how far it will go. I don't think skydivers should change in this sense. i love the fact that skydivers are blunt and say what's on their mind. There's nothing more valuable than honesty. Most men everywhere probably have all the same thoughts going through their head, but few vocalize it. I'm glad skydivers feel comfortable enough to say what's on their mind around me. But I draw my line clearly, and I deal with the hassling well... if she's still unsure, she can PM or email me and I'd be happy to talk to her further. in the meantime, keep her away from Scotty Carbone edit to say: don't forget to tell her that skydiving is worth it!!! don't give up because of the guys! http://www.exitshot.com

i'll bring my harness, rope and grigri, i can share... don't forget the camera. http://www.exitshot.com

What an awesome idea! Can you integrate the figure-8, or whatever its called, into your container harness, or do you wear another harness underneath? No, you need to wear a seperate harness. (They make base gear with an integrated harness, but doubt you'd get that just for a balloon jump...) and you could use a figure 8 or a pyramid belay device, but if you have climbing gear, use a grigri, self braking so you can hang with your hands free if necessary, then slide off the end of the rope when you want to. Lance did that at Rantoul on the above mentioned balloon jump, got an awesome photo of Cajones and I jumping off the balloon, but we haven't seen or heard from Lance since, except that he wasn't sure where that roll of film was. So if anyone know's Lance, was shooting for Martini Shots, pass the message along. That jump was very special to me and I would love to have a copy of that photo. I would appreciate it very much. I'll pay for developing, shipping, whatever. I'd just love to have that photo. thanks http://www.exitshot.com

how about that show that was advertised as "extreme makeover"? they said they'd give a few women all the surgical enhancements and fixes they wanted, liposuction, breast implants, tattoo makeup, facelifts, hair, nails and wardrobe... i only read about it on a pop-up MSM screen, but it sounds like a sad reflection of our society. but, like Springer, i'm sure will get a lot of attention, and that's all the Networks want, viewers = consumers. it's all about money. i waste my time on dz.com, not wathcing tv http://www.exitshot.com

most people i know pack their pilot chutes that way. i happened to have been taught a different way, and it has always worked. a rigger once packed mine the way shown in the link, and i had a hard pull where my hand actually slipped off my hackey... so i'm sticking to my old method. point is, many ways will work. just watch everyone pack http://www.exitshot.com

can anyone explain the regulations for antenna lights? that is, can you tell by how many white strobes how high the antenna is? just curious... i don't plan on jumping any antenna's around here soon, but i'm curious if i can just tell driving by the height without an aerial map. thanks http://www.exitshot.com

oh balloon jumps... the silence when you step off the balloon echos the essence of how no words can describe the feeling. i've only done 2, but they are incredibly memorable... especially this last one at Rantoul, sunset load on the last Saturday night, with a couple new awesome people in my life. all week i wanted to do a balloon jump, but had to wait till it was the right time. Tuesday night, i stayed up with a handful of people around the fire, specifically, and musician named keith. as the crowd dwindled, keith busted out his magical guitar and amazing voice, and he played until the sun came up, the early morning balloons took off, and the first load landed... being out there for hours listening to a man's heart pour through his fingers and his voice was one of the most amazing nights of my life. He wasn't being payed, he had no good reason to play for a few of us other than he was so passionate about his music, and was so charged by a small captive audience. he lit us up... we lit him up... play one more... play one more... I get chills thinking about it. sometimes life directs our paths to cross with others in amazing ways... Keith only came to Rantoul to hang out, as a student with a dozen or so jumps, never been in a balloon, he lives in Quincy and is drawn to the convention for the people. we were lucky people... as the balloons rose that morning, i told keith i wanted to take him for a ride in the balloon when i jumped... i lost track of keith for the rest of the week, never did see him out by the fire as he was that night... finally saturday came, and i manifested for the sunset balloon jump. someone on our load did not show up, so i knew, i had to find keith. i did. he grabbed his camera and we ran to catch our balloon. the ride was sweet, and the jump with ed was breathtaking, above all, being able to share it with keith who had given me so much was just... (i'm stuck to find a word to do it justice) i think you get the idea. balloon jumps are amazing, people in skydiving can be so much more amazing... http://www.exitshot.com

i LOVE my Odyssey!! i had (really really old) used gear for two years. scary used gear with exposed risers and all... so i said screw it, and ordered all new gear, with all the bells and whistles on my credit card. and i'm so glad i did. you're going to love it. (next time you might want to ask for opinions before you order though, incase they're not positive responses) pull low, hook it http://www.exitshot.com
