  1. darn, no booties... you could get really skinny and tall by next weekend, but by the looks of your avatar, i'm not sure you should enter the comp. jk. how do you track now? do you roll your shoulders and cup the air, or do you just put your arms back and straighten your legs?... peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
  2. Well after spending a week with Lew, i think we all learned this. She reminded us many many times.
  3. actually, you can change the ISO on a manual SLR. it's called "pushing" or "pulling" the film. but you have to have it developed differently, so that the film developer time is changed. i used to push film when i shot basketball for a paper and we weren't allowed to use a flash, pre-strobes there... we'd take ISO 800 film and treat it like 1600 so we could use a high shutter speed. yes, play around with the aperture if you can, blurring more or less foreground/background. also, becuase aperture is balalnce with shutter speed, you can indirectly alter the shutter speed. That is, if you choose a wide aperture, like 4 or less, you will have a faster shutter speed than if you set the aperture to 16 or 22... have fun :) peace http://www.exitshot.com
  4. i love those!!! I do them in the store all the time. years ago my mom thought she'd stump me and bought me the Patience Puzzle for xmas, and I solved it in a few minutes before unwrapping anything else, that pissed her off. i've done the fish one too, but that was a while ago, i can't remember exactly how it was done, sorry i can't help ya. peace http://www.exitshot.com
  5. yes, you got all that right.... basically, it's all about light. good light will give you better quality. http://www.exitshot.com
  6. Hey Kev... I bet your camera will operate on all automatic settings, so you probably don't need to understand all those settings... But anyway, here's a couple quick answers to your questions... This is how I explain a camera to my students in my intro to photography class: The camera is just like your eye. Imagine you eyelid closed, and it opens and closes so you see a still image... ISO is the film speed, like how fast your brain/cornea can process the image Shutter Speed, how long the shutter is open to take the photo, is how fast your eyelid opens and closes Aperture, is how big the opening is, like your pupil. (When it's dark, you're pupil gets bigger to let more light in, and when it's bright outside, your pupil gets smaller to let less light in) Those are the three settings that determine the proper exposure (how much light to let in...) a little more info... The ISO is predetermined by what film you buy, but with a digital camera, it can change with each photo. You really don't need to worry about it. The only thing you might need to worry about it shutter speed. All three of those settings control the light, and the camera has a light meter built in to determine what the automatic settings should be... which is why when it's dark, your flash probably comes on automatically... You might want to worry about shutter speed becuase if it's too slow, you can get motion blur in your photos, whether your subject is moving, or your hand holding the camera is shaking... you'll want the shutter speed on a minimum of 60 (for 1/60th of a second) and for action/sports set it to 250 or higher (for 1/250th of a second to freeze the action)... hope that helps a little and didn't confuse you more... also, just a few tips in general... when you take photos of people, like snapshots, either take close-ups of their faces or full-body photos, but don't cut off their feet. that means the center of the frame might be their waist and not their head. also, generally have the sun behind you, so that it lights up your subject. and get closer. peace http://www.exitshot.com
  7. I know you're moving to Ohio to be closer to me but i hate to burst your bubble, I'm not staying in Ohio much longer... Seriously, why are you moving to Cleveland?!? are you crazy or something. As for the dz's close by... I've been to AerOhio a couple times and to Cleveland Sport Parachute Club several times. I like CSPC for it's friendly people and good vibe... They host a good boogie called the Goodtime Boogie in July, definately worth hitting for a weekend... AerOhio is a little bigger and flies and Otter in the Summer, also hosts RW competitions sometimes if you're into that. check them both out, see which one fits ya. peace http://www.exitshot.com
  8. yup.... on MSM, lewmonst, and prefer it over the others.... lewmonst at hotmail on AIM, iamalewser, so my students can IM me with questions, which they often do on Yahoo, lewmonst, to talk to one special person who is anti-AIM/MSM talk about going out of your way for someone... just to be available to chat on IM every once in a rare while... peace (btw, if i don't reply right away, i'm either teaching or in the middle of a really good game of collapse - which sucks when an AIM pops up in front of it) http://www.exitshot.com
  9. yeahhhhh.... right.... maybe if someone picks us up in their jet. um, seriously, we'd love to be there. i don't know if my school schedule will make possible, plus, it would help if we sold like 100 more copies of the eloy boogie video peace http://www.exitshot.com

  12. don't forget to keep your head on a swivel at all times. at all times. check your airspace before you deploy, right after you deploy before you stow your slider/release your breaks... peace http://www.exitshot.com
  13. ahh, but not in Eloy. That is the rule: follow the first on down if you plan to land in the main grass, whether they land downwind or what. If you're not happy with the direction they choose, land in the desert. it's just the rule. And during a boogie like that, 600+ registered jumpers, usually 3+ aircraft flying at once, it's in everyone's safety interest to follow the rules. Notifying the load wouldn't make it okay to land opposite the first one down. just the rule. and strictly enforced, for the safety of everyone there. peace http://www.exitshot.com
  14. yup, that looks like my brother Seis Segundos Rodriguez, but under his main canopy this time .... as for the landing direction, not being able to make it back from the spot is not an excuse to land opposite directions on the grass. "There is plenty of desert" the grass area has a set landing direction, east or west, by the first one down, thats the rule. stick to the rules, no circumstances should negate that rule. As for this incidence, who knows what way the first guy down landed. But in jumping with Pablo many times, I know he's heads up enough to know which way to land, i'd be surprised if he was going the wrong way. i don't know the other guy. peace http://www.exitshot.com
  15. Kevin, Thanks for posting. shit happens. hopefully someone will take a little more time in a pin-check to make sure shit doesn't re-happen, thanks to your openness. blue skies, glad you're ok! peace http://www.exitshot.com

  18. Have fun!!! Say Hi to MonkeyChucker and bye to Katie for us. We'll miss her and hope she has a good 100th jump and all goes great in Kuwait and come back soon and tell chuckie if he pukes again to get some video. party on monkeys peace http://www.exitshot.com
  19. you could post in safety and training and get much better responses from TI's. I'm don't have my tandem rating, but I've known several guys taller than that to do tandems. Also, if he is under 200 lbs, he's probably thin for a guy and hopefully flexible. The most important thing i think would be to get his legs up on landing... call the local dz and ask them. peace http://www.exitshot.com
  20. You can occasionally find a good buy on there... 2 and half years ago, I bought a Sony PC5 off Ebay for about $1000. It was a really good deal, open box kinda deal, "used once". I emailed the seller and asked a bunch of questions... such as, "why are you selling it?", "is there anything wrong with it", "how can I be sure of this?"... I got the seller to write in an email that he guraunteed it in perfect working condition, and if not, i could return it to him for a full refund, included his name, address, phone, etc... So i got it, it worked perfectly, all parts included. Only downside, not having a warranty, i did break it about a year later, and a warranty might have saved me the Sony flat fee of $287. *might*... i've gotten my money's worth out of it. But i bought my new PC120 from store with a warranty. good luck! http://www.exitshot.com
  21. Call em. You'll probably want to talk to Mike McGowen, I think he's in charge of all of it there... http://www.exitshot.com
  22. I've seen it. It's awesome, well worth the wait. VHS's have been shipped, and is available now if anyone wants one, go to http://www.martinishotfilms.com The DVD has special added bonus features which take additional time to edit. Authoring a DVD also adds more time to the process compared to producing VHS tapes. The DVD's are in the authoring phase, creating chapters, etc.... The editting is finished. Grant has worked very hard on this and it's good. When you see the video, please come back and post your reviews. peace http://www.exitshot.com
  23. Could'nt have put it any better then that.....here I am a weed in the garden... oh please... don't be talking crap like that Bets. you know better than that. http://www.exitshot.com
