i psycho pack my safire and have done many times to a xfire and jumped it. it was recommended to me by Icarus. it's way easier in my opinion than the normal S-folds on a new ZP canopy. I've also taught about 10 people to psycho pack who all swear they'll not go back. if you master the regular pro-pack, no need to try and switch... if you're struggling to get it in the bag, try psychopacking it, you'll save some blood, sweat and tears. the biggest advatage i think is putting the bag down over the canopy, using the ground and your knees to contain the canopy. whereas in the regular propack, trying to contain the s-folds and slide the bag under the canopy is the tricky part. also in my experience, every canopy i've psycho-packed has fit into the bag better and more easily than the owners best regular pro-pack. my psycho-packs don't leave any material hanging out. works for me. i would also recommend asking the canopy manufacturer, i have heard of some canopies that are not recommended to be psycho-packed.

i think you're misunderstanding me, or imposing your generalizations on me. please don't do that. speak about your world, and i'll speak about mine. i am rich becuase i am alive and becuase of the people in my life. skydiving is a bonus, which i love. i am very very fortunate that i have also been able to experience all that i have. your world is what you make of it. that is, the attitude you choose. to be happy with yourself. and that i am.

Nice! i gave my mom a tandem for her 53rd birthday a few years ago. She did it, loved it. she's awesome, and she figures, if I can do than she can do it. she hasn't done any other jumps since, but loves to tell people about it and show the video. you gotta get a video, and jump with her. dock on her... how many moms get to see us in that way. very cool. hope she likes it! i also gave my dad a ride in Mullins, that scared the piss out of him, diving with the door open past us in freefall while he's held in with a little seat belt. and he says he won't jump. he doesn't believe me that riding Mullins down is far scarier than jumping. lew

HOLY CARUMBA that's a lot of jumps gone.... if you have money to give away Yosh, just tell Jaime to put it on my account. i'm a poor schoolteacher you know. i make pennies to shape the future of america. my car doesn't have a window and it's flippin freezing up here... i shall not dispose of jump money carelessly peace lew

of course, i agree we are rich in that we something more valuable than money, flying and being free. i was just replying to the topic at hand. i was an engineer once also, made lots and lots of money, and i quit. you don't have to convince me that it ain't money that makes people happy. i'm a walking example of it. although, i'd like more money, so i could skydive all the time and get coaching to fly better...

Quatorze, still bitter that you're not cool enough to be a Rodriguez Brother? c'mon... you know those Muff dives are way better than any parties we have in RB land... Zen, i didn't know Kebe was having a contest on the baby board... I'm no skysurf goddess, i suck at it, and I'm not current at all. I've done maybe 10 board jumps this year. But it's fun. why won't you participate? lew

i'm going to have to dissagree with you on this one. next time you go to the drop zone, look at the automobiles, count how many "junkers" vs. how many "yuppie" vehichles you see. then, look to see what kind of equipment everyone has and visually equate that into $$$ inherently this is turning out to be "a rich person's sport" and most of the sky divers i know are professionals, or being educated to be one. i think there are plenty of rich people who skydive, but no one gets rich from skydiving. i think most instructors make money to pay for their fun jumps, the few full-time instructors i know... well, live in a trailer at the dz and don't have much money to do much else. someday i'll live in a trailer at the dz too that's what i've seen in my experiences... i'm sure there are a few exceptions.

saw it. i wouldn't recommend it. as for the ammount of skydiving and base jumping... very very very little. the only skydiving was in the very beginning while the credits were rolling to start, of which it wasn't that impressive anyway... focussed on one guy mainly flipping from belly to head down some... short clip. the only base jumping was one of the main characters who always wore his base rig (or something that resembled a base rig without legstraps, becuase he was just afraid. then the only base jump came from falling off a mountain when they were skiing to escape the bad guys. His legstraps appeared, thank goodness, and he opened, a round parachute, with a lot of line twists right next to the cliff. got hung up in a tree which was amusing, relative to the rest of the movie... it was mostly skiing and snowboarding, some decent shots of that, but too unrealistic for anyone familiar with any extreme sports. oh yeah, and they escaped from the Serbians, *few*... oh, sorry don't mean to give anything away, but it's pretty predictable anyway. the movie seemed targeted at teens aspiring to be bad-asses, with some cheesy scateboarding scenes and truth-or-dare to top it off. oh and they always held the camera in there hand, skydiving, skiing, kayaking, etc... amazing how they didn't drop it and it worked soaking wet with any waterproof case... you'd be better off getting a base video just for the content. just my opinion... glad i didn't pay full price to see it. peace lew

Too high, too low...need help with flaring
lewmonst replied to dzdiva's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
what canopy are you jumping? student gear? same canopy every jump? how high do you flare? one my instructors always said don't flare when you first think to, but when you get really scared... works for student gear. you can also start your flare, and do it slower if you're too high, or faster if you're too low. -
carrie, that sucks. we've all gotten speeding tickets. I've had 3 within a year a few years ago. but i payed them off however i could. if you cancel you vacation tickets you'll have money and save money by not jumping over the vacation. you could always drive to florida when you get out of jail but not too fast, of course

no sangiro, thank you.

C'mon CrazyThom, don't you feel the love?

Congrats!!! ooh ooh, can i show & tell? my brother recently gave brith to a baby girl. so i'm "aunt lew", although my brother i think is refering to me as "crazy karen" behind my back. i don't think his wife will let me babysit becuase she's afraid i'll drop the kid off things on purpose... anyway, look at me and the kid in the photo lew

free speech, no... not here free thought, sure, always... but everyone has a right to their opinion, as long as they don't impose it on others unwantingly. these forums are a tool for us, to learn from eachother and to make new friends. why not decide to use this in a positive way? you can make enemies... or you can make friends to jump with in the future what you make of this is your decision.

yeah, and i'm not using it... i wish i'd invested all that money and 4 years in skydiving, i'd be really good and have all my ratings already and make money instructing, and be happy living in a trailer down by the river but i can't complain, life is pretty awesome right now
