I agree. It brings up an interesting debate that has been going on in Photo/Video in this thread... Did SunPath sponsor the event? If not, it seems to me they'd need a release from everyone in the photo to use that photo for an advertisement. I have yet to see the ad, but if that is the case, it dilutes my impression of SunPath. And I love my Odyssey... but in light of our recent fire losses and the responses from some gear manufacturers, I will consider all that has transpired when I make decisions next time I purchase gear. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

BumFart-Extreme magazine would have to obtain a release from you before they publish your picture in any magazine ad. Same with video ads. This is not really true . I photographed a event last summer that was used in a print ad that involved people . The ad was printed and here comes Joe Jerk and his Scottsdale lawyer taking us to court because he should be compensated . The case was thrown out and Joe Jerk was told by the judge that if he didn't want to be photographed to stay home and far away from events with corporate sponsorship as the sponsors have the right to publish without a release . Cross posting in reference to a thread about the recent SunPath ad in parachutist ... Seems to fit this scenario... Does anyone know if SunPath sponsored the event? If not, it seems to me they should have gotten a release from those in the ad, which would have been an issue as some of them do not endorse SunPath... peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

Hey girl! Wish I could have been there! Sounds like everyone had a blast. Although I wouldn't want to see Vern streaking... (Hi Vern!!! missing the richmond gang at all? doubt it with all the cool chicks in Z-hills...) So did you have time to get the shirts printed for the boogie? I knew it was a tight timeline. Hope to see you all soon! peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

Just another hole drilled to the side of the L-bracket. The sight is not super secure right now. I check it every morning before i start jumping and periodically especially if I think something might have hit it. My only method for doing that right now is having someone look into the video camera and help me center it. I've also shot a few photos off and compared them to what I thought I was looking at... peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

yup. In LA, that's almost southern Hemisphere right? jk, I don't teach geography. Seriously, never a dull moment. This is what I hear all day "Lew, Lew, Lew, Lew...." and yesterday I made a pythagorean triangle problem out of a base jump... If the talus sticks out 8 feet... "lew, Lew, Lew, Lew..." I love making skydiving math problems up. "Lew, Lew, Lew, Lew..." [I'm going to beat Cajones with my ruler now] peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

Elsinore Instructor Fundraising Auction - Open for bidding NOW!
lewmonst replied to westcoastchica's topic in The Bonfire
Speaking for Ed, no, basically he doesn't build websites. he does mostly hardware, building servers and systems (putting the little parts together) and installing operating systems and software. However, that brings Christiaan to mind, maybe Christiaan can also donate some time to the auction for basic web design... mandy? you reading this? what do you think? I know Christiaan has been swamped with work lately, so not sure he'd have time, but he would be the best at it. Michelle, i can do very basic webpage design. What are you looking for? peace lew http://www.exitshot.com -

Well I'd like to bid on this, and if I win does that mean that Cajones and Lew have to come to my place so he can get the work done on my computer? Mar, I'll drag Cajones out to Colorado one of these days so we can visit you! peace lew http://www.exitshot.com -
uberscuba, Your profile is not filled out. what is your name? did you used to jump? did we speak that morning? thank you for the work you did putting it out. I don't know when the call went in, or who finally got through. It wasn't me, and from everyone else's account, who was outside watching the fire for quite a while, they stated 15 minutes. One skydiver took some video when the fire department did arrive and the process it took to get the fire under control... thanks lew http://www.exitshot.com

Jerry!!! I hope you recover quickly and completely. I haven't seen you in quite a while or had the pleasure of taking out the base on a jump with you for a long while :)... I missed Richmond this year. I'm thinking of you and sending love your way. remember, look up when you are talking to me! peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

Anyone in SoCal fmailiar with this stuff? Can anyone recommend a good Insurance Agent or company to get renter's insurance from with all the extended coverage, god forbid this type of loss we've had should happen again? I'm stressing over how I might be able to replace things, and the little that I am trying to aqcuire now to keep up in the air, I'm stressing about protecting it asap. So any help/guidance would be appreciated. I'm trying to sort through State Farms website and get a quote... Also, any idea on what type of insurance someone can get if they neither rent nor own a home for this type of personal property coverage? In case Ed I and have to live in the camper for a while? thanks! peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

here's mine. 5 holes drilled in L-bracket. One obviously for the thumb screw. 4 for bungies, on either side of the camera, one on top and one on bottom. works well. I'm getting a stroboframe soon just to be sure I don't slightly twist anything peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

The Pro is also heavier than the Narrow. despite my size, I have a girly neck, so every ounce counts. The Narrow is perfect for me now. Eventually I'll upgrade to the Pro when i can get a new camera and flashes (and build my neck muscles?)... peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

ooooooooooh aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah now that's cool! I wanted to add flashes... but there's no use getting flashes now that i don't have any cameras! greg's helmet is the bomb. are you getting help from his machinist? i would like to go that route someday... peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

that's what CAjones and I are thinking about. We want one! Appears similar in size and weight to the 120, so it should fit in my d-box, since my helmet survived when my 120 died. if you find a good deal on them, let me know. peace lewmonster http://www.exitshot.com
-
why, what do you plan on doing? i know when i start putting flashes on, I will want a pro... but the narrow is good for now peace lew http://www.exitshot.com

I live in the Midwest, and I don't participate in winter sports!
lewmonst replied to Vallerina's topic in The Bonfire
Val, Get out there and try it!!! You never know you may like it. I do have to say though, happiness in skiing or snowboarding is all about clothes. If you are not properly dressed, you will be miserable. Get or borrow some snow pants, that means, nothing less than insulated and waterproof. Get or borrow warm waterproof mittens. Mittens are much warmer than gloves, and just fine for skiing and snowboarding. I have these old blue (men's) ski pants from Dick's Sporting Goods I got on sale, and because they are waterproof I am always comfortable in them. I bought mittens last year and love them. I get cold hands easily and actually have what's called Raynaud's phenomenon where my fingers lose circulation completely and it can get very very painful if I don't do something about it. I was able to manage it with insulated mittens and handwarmer packs. Although when I switched from skiing to snowboarding, I didn't need the warmers anymore because i was working so much harder to snowboard i kept very warm. Do not try anything in jeans, you will be miserable. layer up on top, and get lots of hot chocolate. Also, for your first time out, everyone is right, skiing is easier than snowboarding. they are both hard and awkward at first, but skiing is definately more enjoyable the first few days. If you have a few days to really pick it up, snowboarding is a blast. I will never go back to skiis, however, getting through the first few painful days of snowboarding is rough. If you try snowboarding, you NEED to wear kneepads and wristguards under your outside layer. When you fall skiing, it's usually to the side and you can slide. When you fall snowboarding, it's very abrupt and very hard, and either on your face or your ass. If you fall face-first, your knees take a lot of the impact. When you fall on your ass, if you put your arms back, you are very likely to hurt your wrist or worse without wrist-guards. and if you don't put your arms back, you take it all on your tailbone. Ed and I taught ourselves to snowboard last winter... well, kindof. Ed bruised his tailbone so badly he had to sit out a couple weeks then went back to skiis for a while. then when he tried snowboarding again, he fell and hyperextended his elbow badly and was done. He still can't straighten his arm all the way. I fortunately with the help of old rollerblading kneepads and wristguards made it through the rough part and was fine. (except the one time i almost knocked myself unconscious I fell backwards so fast i couldn't even get my arms back and my head was the first to hit a patch of ice... i layed there a while disoriented until i figured out what had happened... boy i had a headache) anyway, stay warm, take it easy. and GO! I'm jonesin to go snowboarding again but we're beyond broke with losing everythin in the fire so i won't get to this year. Take a lesson, whichever you choose, it's worth the money. If I had the opportunity, I'd teach you myself. Good luck with Erk. peace lew http://www.exitshot.com
